‘You and I Don’t Live In the Same World.’

During a presentation at a conference in California (5 October 2024), Dr Gabor Maté was asked a question by a member of the audience. While he was answering the question, the woman kept interrupting him. At one point, he said to her:

You and I don’t live in the same world.

Why did he respond in this manner?
Watch this video to understand the context of his response.

Who is Dr Gabor Maté? On this podcast show (May 2021), Gabor described his background.

“I’m personally a Holocaust survivor. As an infant, I barely survived. My grandparents were killed in Auschwitz and most of my extended family were killed. I became a Zionist.

But then he began to understand what this dream about a Jewish homeland meant to another group of people. He visited the Occupied Territories (West Bank) during the first intifada. This was his reaction.

I cried every day for two weeks at what I saw; the brutality of the occupation, the petty harassment, the murderousness of it, the cutting down of Palestinian olive groves, the denial of water rights, the humiliations…and this went on, and now it’s much worse than it was then.

“It’s the longest ethnic cleansing operation in the 20th and 21st century. I could land in Tel Aviv tomorrow and demand citizenship but my Palestinian friend in Vancouver, who was born in Jerusalem, can’t even visit!……

He states his opinion about criticism of Israel and the term “anti-Semite”.

To say that Jews who oppose Israel are not Jews is a slander. And for him to say that anybody who criticises Israel is an anti-Semite is simply an egregious attempt to intimidate good non-Jews who are willing to stand up for what is true.”

Esme shared this post in the Open Thread. It contains a link to this speech by Irish Lawyer Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh KC where she dedicates her award to the women of Gaza.

To the displaced, the starving, the bereaved, the widowed and maimed.
To the daughters left motherless, and the mothers cradling their children’s tiny shrouds…
To the women doctors and nurses…
To the scientists, the engineers, the academics and the teachers…

By contrast, we can address the rest of the world about the crisis in Gaza and Palestine:

To the brainwashed, the gullible, the manipulated and the naive…
To the wilfully ignorant (despite ample available proof)…
To those who continue to support the side of evil…
When will you wake up to the reality of the crimes being committed?
When will you be prepared to call out the criminals who are responsible?

In the podcast interview, Gabor said:

You can get all the information you want, so if anybody these days doesn’t know it’s not because the information is not available. It’s not what you know, it’s what you could know if you wanted to find out.

Does evidence matter?

We’ve provided a great deal of material  on the situation in the Middle-East, for the past year. (Info and links collated here.) No serious reader of this blog can now claim that they do not know the facts about what is taking place in Gaza since October 2023, or the history of over 75 years.

Do you live in the same world as Gabor Maté? Do you understand what has been happening to Palestinians? Does your heart bleed for the innocent civilians?

Or do you live on that other planet – the one with the woman in the audience who asked the question about October 7? The one with a limited view and a refusal to look beyond the propaganda bubble?

Have you been prepared to listen to others about this ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to those outside your zone, because the truth matters above all else? Have you been prepared to speak out against the injustice, the cruelty, the atrocities taking place in Gaza? Or are you afraid that you will be un-friended, un-followed, shunned, mocked and rejected by some group that you belong to due to what they consider your wrong-think?

    A Doctor’s Testimony:
The Reality of Gaza’s Suffering by Dr. Tanya Haj Hassan

Dr. Tanya Haj Hassan, a pediatric intensive care doctor with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), shared a harrowing account of her experiences working in Gaza, where she bore witness to the devastating humanitarian crisis…..

She called for urgent global action, stating that silence in the face of such atrocities perpetuates impunity and signals the erosion of humanitarian law.

    What happened on October 7?

    1/
    Redacted

Israel stood down for seven hours on October 7th, allowing Hamas to attack. It’s now clear this was a strategic move to use the chaos as a catalyst for a permanent takeover of Gaza.

Just came across a link to this one:

Dr Gabor Mate and Daniel Mate on genocide in Gaza

Dr Gabor Mate and his son Daniel discuss the current context of genocide in Gaza and how bearing witness to that has affected them.

    ….

From Jews who don’t support Zionism

    Jews-1

Zionists are selling out the Jewish people by creating the false impression that Israel is somehow a ‘representation’ of Jews and Judaism:

    Jews-2

“As an American Jew, I beg you all – don’t call Israel a ‘Jewish State.’ Call Israel however you like, but don’t use the name of an entire religion!”

Some Jews, like Gabor Maté and Miko Peled, have acknowledged that they used to be Zionists. But after their personal experiences with the facts, they have become advocates for Palestinians.

Simone Zimmerman, also a former Zionist, changed sides.
    She shares her experience.

Some non-Jews (including this commenter) have admitted that we used to be pro-Israel. I haven’t visited those occupied territories to see what is happening there, but I have read info and watched enough footage. The proof is overwhelming. It has led to me (and others) changing our minds and opinions and switching over to the side of truth. We now understand that the Palestinian history is not what we were led to believe.

Jews like Gabor Maté, Miko Peled, Simone Zimmerman and others have been prepared to publicly state their former positions on the issue, and why they departed from Zionism.

Non-Jews have also publicly declared (on social media and other sites) how they changed their opinions. I have stated it on this blog.

It is not hard to do. To look at the evidence and then admit that one was wrong in the past due to ignorance, bias or some other reason.

    The Holy Land?

You cannot build a Holy Land atop the graves of babies and toddlers.
    You can’t. You just can’t….

Does that sound like any kind of Holy Land to anyone with common sense?…
Those things that are being done there, a God would not have it.

There are two videos in this link. Both speakers are not Christians but they understand the way that Christians are being used by Zionists. Meanwhile, the Christians continue under the illusion of some make-believe Judeo-Christian heritage.

    Two videos

The lady on the left is Genevieve Akal. Her ancestry is a combination of Lebanese and Irish Catholic. But she is now a “Gnostic priestess” in some Vedic tradition. I wouldn’t spend much time on that new age spirituality, but in the video she provides an explanation of the Zionist goals and history.

The video on the right is Anya Parampil, a Jew.

(If the info in the videos is wrong or incorrect, please go ahead and provide the correct info and links.)
