Where Do We Stand?

At the European Parliament Roundtable, in Brussels, earlier this year, Miko Peled opened his speech with these questions:

How are we going to face our children and our grandchildren when they ask us how did we allow this to happen on our watch? Where were you? Where were we? Where did we stand?

Peled, an American-Israeli author and Palestinian human rights activist, was referring to the genocide taking place in Gaza. He called out the narrative about the actions of the Israelis and the resistance by the Palestinians. He went on to describe the huge hypocrisy about the discussions that take place around the assaults committed by Israel and that there is an ignorance about the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

1. Roundtable Speech on Palestine: Brussels (January 2024)

He repeats his question:

Where do we stand?

This is not a difficult question. Where do we stand? It is not a question of politics. It is not a question of religion. Where do our values lead us? You ask the question of yourself. Do you support racism, apartheid and genocide? Then, yes, support Israel….

Or do you believe in justice, in humanity, in democracy, in human rights?

In which case we need to do everything we can to dismantle the apartheid state and allow for a free democratic Palestine to take its place and the sooner the better…

2. Speech on Palestine: Seattle (October 2012)

This is a speech given by Miko Peled, at Seattle, on 1 October 2012

    What ‘genocide’?
    What ‘crimes against Palestinian people’?
    What ‘apartheid’?
    Bloody hell…I’m lost for words.
Some 13% (last time I looked) of Israeli citizens are Arabs. They even have their own political party, with representation in the Knesset (Parliament of Israel).
    Where’s the ‘apartheid’?
The so-called ‘Palestinians’ are Arabs. Same ones as those in neighboring Jordan and Egypt. Why don’t those two countries take them in, if they are so hard done by?
Those same ‘Palestinians’ keep voting for Hamas, a movement whose stated goal is to wipe Israel out. Regardless of the recent war, just why would Israel not have a right to exist?
Israel handed Gaza back to the Arabs more than 20 years ago. All it got in return was more terrorist attacks.
You know what: Islam is NOT compatible with democracy. They even say so themselves.
There are NO democratic islamic states. The only democratic state in the Middle East happens to be Israel.
Your falling for the ‘Jew bad, Arab good’ narrative, is regrettable. Certainly not something that should be posted on a site that pretends to be the successor of the old Catallaxy Files.

I don’t like listening to or posting videos where swear words are used repeatedly. But people who understand exactly what is taking place are livid about the ongoing crisis and the role of the media in it.

Yuli Novak is an Israeli human rights activist. But if she is fighting for human rights of the people in the Occupied Territories it means she is not a Zionist.

    Does that make her anti-Jew, anti-Semite, anti-Israel?

Our ABC posted an article on the weekend. It is being called out on social media for being 10 months too late.

    Max Blumenthal posted:

Haaretz accused me of a “masterclass in manipulation” and called me a “conspiracy theorist” for reporting in October 2023 on Israel’s mass Hannibal operation.

Now, Australian state media is saying it.

Remember how we keep being reminded about October 7 and evil Hamas, Israeli deaths, hostages? It is as reported by the controlled MSM.

I am going to add links from social media mostly connected to 7 October 2023. It is too much for me to provide details on each or put them in any logical order.

A history lesson – this article was written in 2021.

Douglas J. Feith, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute, served as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from July 2001 to August 2005. He is writing a history of the Arab-Israeli conflict – this article is adapted from it.

The Forgotten History of the Term “Palestine”

Some think of the Palestinian-Israeli dispute as a clash of nationalisms. Others stress religious antagonism, while others yet see an East-West power struggle. But it is roundly agreed upon that a key element of the conflict is land. That land, for many years by many people, was called Palestine.
