Rudd MUST be sacked as US Ambassador

Newly unearthed webinar footage shows Australia’s US Ambassador and former prime minister Kevin Rudd calling recently re-elected Donald Trump a “village idiot” and “incoherent”.

Sky News host Sharri Markson revealed exclusive footage of Mr Rudd making the comments, which come from the years after Mr Trump’s first term in office and add to a growing list of Mr Rudd’s public criticism of the US president-elect.

Despite describing Mr Trump as a “political liability”, a “problem for the world” and a “traitor to the west”, the former Labor prime minister was appointed US Ambassador in 2022. …

As Trump moves to consolidate his power in Washington, the president-elect is expected to appoint his former immigration adviser, Stephen Miller, as his deputy chief of staff for policy, giving him an expanded role to carry out the Republican’s second term agenda…

The only intellectually honest reason to support Trump is because you’re a garden variety Republican and you support standard Republican agendas like lower taxes on the rich and low tolerance for human diversity. There is no honest basis to support Trump on antiwar grounds, or because you want the swamp of corruption to be drained from Washington. This was obvious to anyone who paid attention the last time he was president, but it is glaringly obvious now from all the warmongering swamp monsters he’s been packing his cabinet with.

This narrative so-called “MAGA Republicans” have about themselves as some new special breed of Republican who are meaningfully different from the Republicans of the past simply is not born out by any kind of material evidence. They’re not draining the swamp. They’re not fighting the deep state. They’re not ending the wars. They’re doing all the gross stuff Republicans have always tried to do while LARPing as brave rebels.

I despise the entirety of the Republican Party; it’s one of the most evil things humanity has ever produced. But in a sense I actually respect the Republicans who don’t pretend to be anything different from what they’ve always been more than I respect the frauds who pretend they’re waging some kind of populist insurgency against the establishment. At least the Ben Shapiros and the Fox News weird hair pundits are honest about who they are.

    By Manouk Akopyan

YouTube-sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in their heavyweight fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night.

Fans seemed less than enthused by what they saw, with some people booing in the crowd.

Round 8 recap: It’s rinse and repeat for Paul, who outboxes Tyson in the last round, just like he did in all of the rounds before. It was a unanimous decision win for Paul. Tyson likely won only won round — the first round — at the best. Paul landed eight of 43 in the eight round. Tyson landed only one of 6.

There was audible booing from some fans during the Israeli national anthem ahead of the game and, about ten minutes into the first half, confrontations broke out between scores of matchgoers.

Videos shared on social media showed Israeli fans, some with their faces covered and with Israeli flags draped on their backs, attacking French fans …

Another smug-seeming woman journalist in the background, a troublingly familiar suggestion of going looking for something, and people being nudged to come forward. Different people, different cases, of course, but it isn’t easy to forget the images of Cardinal Pell for one, and Craig McLachlan for another, going to and from the “courts of justice”, seeing the effect the process had on them. And it isn’t hard to see why many sniff yet another ideologically driven show trial.

I agree, Esme. Whilst I have been aware of media reports accusing Jones of distasteful conduct in the past, I am deeply suspicious of the publicity and public recital of allegations. Jones is entitled to his day in court and a jury empanelled to determine if the allegations are proved and whether these were illegal. I will not be reading any media reports of the trial proceedings as I do not consider these impartial.

I am not in favour of censoring news. I do think that the presumption of innocence is not served by spreading unproved allegations and innuendo for profit.

This is why we’re on the verge of nuclear war

The Biden administration’s decision to permit Ukraine’s use of American missiles against Russia is the most evil and reckless policy development of our lifetimes.

It could lead to a nuclear war.

This didn’t have to happen. Had it not been for America’s foolhardy leadership, this conflict would have ended months ago and more likely never would have started in the first place.

You won’t hear that from the mainstream media, but it’s unquestionably true. Glenn Greenwald joined today’s Tucker Carlson Show to explain why, reveal the profound hidden significance behind Biden’s action, and preview the hurdles Donald Trump will need to overcome to get this resolved.

    Glenn Greenwald tells Tucker:

“The Ukrainians can’t use those missiles on their own. In other words, if they want to launch these missiles, it’s not just the U.S. giving them the missiles and telling them, ‘No problem, go and use them.’ It requires the direct involvement of the United States and/or a major NATO country.”

Israel has condemned Australia’s decision to deny a visa to former Israeli justice minister Ayelet Shaked on character grounds, warning in a statement on X that the decision was deeply offensive and would harm relations between the two countries.

‘Mothers of all Palestinians should also be killed,’ says Israeli politician

As the situation widely deteriorates in the Gaza Strip, Israeli parliament member and law-maker Ayelet Shaked has stigmatized all Palestinians as terrorists, wishing death on all Palestinians while supporting the Israeli military assault.

On Monday Shaked quoted this on her Facebook page: “Behind every terrorist stand dozens of men and women, without whom he could not engage in terrorism. They are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads. Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.”

“They have to die and their houses should be demolished so that they cannot bear any more terrorists,” said Shaked. Standing behind the operations on Gaza, “they are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers of the dead terrorists,” Shaked added.

A day before Palestinian teenager Muhammad Abu Khudair was kidnapped and burned alive allegedly by six Israeli Jewish youths, Shaked published on Facebook a call for genocide of the Palestinians.

The posts were considered as a call for genocide because it declared that “the entire Palestinian people is the enemy” and justifies its destruction, “including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure.” she also called for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to “little snakes.” …

Alan Jones was the only decent commentator on Sky News during Convid

I came across this article by Bettina Arndt when browsing, which reinforces my unease at the process Alan Jones has been subjected to. Bettina blogs at bettinaarndt.substack.com

This week’s arrest of Alan Jones shows just how we have strayed from the principles of justice, with our media and police heavyweights flagrantly ignoring the rules we have in place to ensure a fair trial. This has all the earmarks of a hit job led by feminist journalists determined to take down the man who for decades was king of the airways, hugely influential, with a massive following.
Centre stage is SMH journalist Kate McClymont revelling in her ongoing #MeToo campaign targeting prominent men. She was glowing as police acknowledged that her four-year vendetta against Jones had prompted the police campaign to go after him. In classic trial by media, McClymont published an article last year full of graphic allegations of sexual misconduct. The NSW government followed up with a task force, which has spent months beavering away digging up dirt, with the help of McClymont’s efforts to recruit more “victims”.

Do taxpayers really approve of the spending of hundreds of thousands from our police budget trying to prove some decades-old claims of gropes of bottoms or other bits of husky young men by this 83-year-old? If Jones was not such a prominent figure, would police have expended these resources on allegations of this nature?

For the #MeToo mob, Jones is the biggest scalp of all. “The left has long despised Jones for his contempt for progressive politics, uncompromising social attitudes and influence over national and state politics,” wrote Aaron Patrick in The Nightly.

“The Get Jones campaign is nothing new in my life,” commented Jones last year, as he emphatically denied the allegations when they first surfaced.

The presumption of innocence? What a joke! This week we saw the media alerted in advance of Jones’ arrest and public shaming, which allowed the feral journalists and photographers to go on the rampage, staking out his apartment and police station where he was ultimately charged with 24 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching. There have been press conferences, with the Assistant Police Commissioner commenting the bravery of “the victims” and the Commissioner Karen Webb keen to encourage more: “There is no better time to come forward.”

Even The Australian descended into the gutter, leading their news with a tragic video of Jones pursued by the media scrum. And now Jones is out on bail – but under house arrest, which is a most unusual, draconian move, my legal friends inform me.

At the heart of it all is this extremely popular man who has spent much of his life getting up the noses of the chattering classes by campaigning for causes they despise, while endlessly putting himself out to help charities. Alan Jones first interviewed me over 40 years ago, and he’s supported me and my work ever since. He was one of the very few to give me a platform after attempts to cancel me.

I’m incensed at this gleeful targeting by the State and the media of this decent, principled man. And the underlying message makes me shiver. We are being shown that no one is safe in a system where accusers are celebrated as victims and allegations suffice for evidence. The bigger they are, the harder they fall; and the louder the celebration.

That statement’s probably a little harsh. There were other commentators who raised some objections. So he wasn’t the only one. It was just wrong that they sacked him – apparently for being too truthful.

    this article by Bettina Arndt

As a woman, and having experienced a bit of life – a few different “stages” and “players” (in the Shakespearean sense) – I can try and put myself in the hypothetical feminist journalist’s shoes for a moment. I can sort of see – hypothetically – the seductive pull of a years-long mission to “take down” a grotesque caricature of the “predatory, abusive male”, especially if he’s of a different – and tribally loathed – political persuasion. (Obligatory disclaimer: real, serious abusers do exist. They may not be paraded in front of us by the media, for whatever reason.). The influence of ‘cliques’ and ‘clubs’ – ideological or otherwise – can be as strong in the adult world as at high school. Perhaps stronger, when you add the promise of professional accolades and other perks to the mix.

We’d seen the “spending of hundreds of thousands from our police budget trying to prove some decades-old claims of gropes” etc, before, and the dirt-digging “recruitment campaigns”. To me, this sort of apparently belated harvesting and piling of accusations onto one individual seems a not-so-distant relative of Hollywood’s unsubtle efforts to minimise and dissipate claims of abuse within the acting industry by seeking to #MeToo in every other faintly similar experience, in every other industry or non-industry all over the world. The one seeking to ensure that, whatever happens, some mud will stick; the other, hoping that the mud spreads so far and thin as to become barely perceptible.

Even so, if you’d asked me five years ago, I probably couldn’t have imagined the presumption of innocence being tossed out the window quite so brazenly and cavalierly as this, with “There is no better time to come forward” sounding more like a dodgy advertising slogan than a sober statement of policing.

Now, a bit older, a bit sadder but wiser, I no longer expect much of any of the “trusted institutions”. I already know none of us are “safe” with them. If the last half-decade didn’t teach us that then we weren’t really paying attention. But, for so long as we have some semblance of “free speech” – that too now silently slipping away – then we can still at least raise our little voices of support, or objection.

    Victory for Free Speech

Nation First celebrates Labor’s Misinformation Bill finally being abandoned.

    Dear friend,

The Albanese government has officially abandoned its anti-free speech Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation Bill after facing overwhelming opposition from the Senate and the public.

This dangerous legislation, which sought to give the government unprecedented powers to regulate online content, was rightly labelled “extreme,” and “state-sanctioned censorship” by critics.

The bill’s vague definitions and sweeping penalties drew criticism from across the political spectrum, including the Liberal National Coalition, One Nation, UAP, Senator Gerard Rennick, and even the Greens, and crossbench Senators like David Pocock and Jacqui Lambie.

During Senate hearings, expert after expert—from the Human Rights Commission to the Catholic Bishops Conference—warned that the bill posed a serious threat to free expression.

One of the best interventions was from CitizenGO when their campaigner Brian Marlow pointed out that the government was one of the biggest purveyors of misinformation and likened the bill’s effect to putting an arsonist in charge of dealing with bushfires.

Ultimately, the government admitted defeat, acknowledging there was “no pathway” for the bill to pass. This is a major victory for free speech and a reminder that Australians will not tolerate government overreach into our fundamental rights.

But the fight isn’t over. The government has already signalled plans for alternative laws targeting online content. This means we must remain vigilant to protect free speech in the face of new threats.

For now, let’s celebrate this win—one that belongs to all who stood up and said, “Enough is enough.”

Until next time, God bless you, your family and nation.

    Take care,

    George Christensen

Thanks for sharing this song, Esme.

There is such a subdued and low key manner to her appearance, and yet her voice shines through. Lovely and soothing to listen to. It is poetic; so, too, are some of the comments.

    – What a charming, enchanting and timeless song. And Enya sends it aflutter into eternity on silver wings

    – Absolutely beautiful. Enya ‘s voice, which has a great impression of vulnerability, seems to inject a whole new tragic and cathartic story into the song.

    – She captures the longing I feel in my heart for my lost love. And yet, it soothes the pain.

    – Can’t stop repeating the song. It is so melancholic and beautiful as the same time.

    …..

That you loved me, you loved me still the same.

Speaking of love, can harsh words spoken to a loved one be retracted and forgiven?

That’s what I thought, kaysee. I don’t know a lot about opera but found it interesting that her rendition was so moving while perhaps lacking the technical perfection of operatically trained singers.

As to relationship advice, I’m not sure I’m best placed to provide that on here. I don’t know about the whole “spectrum” business – they seem to use that all over the place these days. But no-one can be all things to one person, so I think it would be unfair to expect that and unreasonable to try. I’m sure you’d agree there’s always room for forgiveness in a relationship, especially a marriage.
