    I just went out to the back verandah for a smoke and found the finches busying themselves with my hanging baskets. They were pulling up loose strands of coconut fibre, must be nest building time again.

    1. Hollow out your industrial base and send everything to China.
    2. Jig the world economy in such a way that everyone wants to buy your assets at stupid prices.
    3. Scare everyone out of investing in local energy production.
    4. Allow Marxists to take over education and journalism.
    And finally…
    5. Make enemies all around the world forcing the creation of an entirely new and competing global system, to which you will even lose countries like India who on the surface were at least neutral towards us.

    You keep livestock in highly unified accomodation, with the emphasis on efficiency. The smallest inputs in food and energy to keep the animals alive and producing.
    Do we now understand why YOU have to build exactly the house THEY want you to live in?
    Arky, I’ve said it before. They are consciously farming us. Farmers of human beings. S.M. Stirling wrote a series of alternate history SF novels about that sort of thing. The Draka are not nice people. Worth your time to read. “The Domination” SM.Stirling and a follow up “Drakon” which would make a great action movie.

    Very soon they are going to ask young American, Australian and UK men to protect this system.
    And the people they have been sourcing for their stupid wars have already worked out there is very little in this current system they feel like defending with their lives. Their answer to the call is going to be “How’s get f***ed sound”?

    “Don’t Give Up” is a song written by English rock musician Peter Gabriel and recorded as a duet with Kate Bush for Gabriel’s sixth solo studio album So (1986). The single version was released as the second single from the album in the UK in 1986 and as the fifth single in the United States in 1987. It spent eleven weeks in the UK Top 75 chart in 1986, peaking at #9.

    Gabriel drew inspiration from Dorothea Lange’s images such as this, her most famous: “Migrant Mother”.
    The song was inspired by the Depression-era photographs of Dorothea Lange, showing poverty-stricken Americans in dust bowl conditions. Gabriel saw Lange’s images in a 1973 book titled In This Proud Land. He felt that a song based on this was wholly appropriate to difficult economic conditions in England under Margaret Thatcher. He composed lyrics within a situation about a man whose unemployment causes stress in his domestic relationship. The verses, sung by Gabriel, describe the man’s feelings of isolation, loneliness and despair; the choruses, sung by Bush, offer words of hope and encouragement.

    I’ll second that. Australians are their own worst enemies. They wouldn’t know freedom and liberty if they tripped over it. They’d pick themselves up and go on as if nothing had happened.
    It will be interesting to try getting people to defend this militarily. I’m sure not going to.
    China has a social credit system that they make no bones about. The Australian one is just as bad but a little more subtle. It has been around for a long time. One version is “tall poppy syndrome”. This has become more severe with all the deplatforming, denigration of views outside the mainstream etc in recent years.
    Covid or rather the reactions has been an interesting test.

    Here is an article about the “Migrant Mother”. There was a series of photographs from the camp and they finally prompted assistance for the poor people.

    It makes a mockery of the “white privilege” argument today blared out by pampered imbeciles.

    Former world number one Novak Djokovic will miss the US Open, saying he will not be able to travel to New York for the tournament, having chosen not to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

    Current rules require travellers to show proof of full vaccination to board flights to and enter the United States.

    “Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open,” Djokovic wrote on Twitter. “Good luck to my fellow players! I’ll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again.”

    Police responded to a false 911 call at the home of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene early Thursday morning, the second “swatting” call targeting the Republican congresswoman in two days, authorities confirmed.

    Two officers showed up to Greene’s home in Rome, Georgia, after receiving a call at 2:53 a.m. ET Thursday about “a male possibly shooting his family members and then himself,” according to a report from the Rome Police Department.

    The suspect, who called through an internet chat that appeared to be a suicide crisis line, falsely told police responders that a man “came out as trans-gender and claimed they shot the family” at Greene’s address, the report said.

    “If anyone tried to stop me from shooting myself, I will shoot them,” said the caller, who gave officers the name Wayne Greene and warned that “they would be waiting for us,” according to the police report.

    The officers went to Greene’s house and met her at her front door, where they explained the situation, the report said. They “confirmed this was a second false report,” the department said in a press statement.

    Steve T, reality is rapidly closing in on the electric car proponents. It would take massive subsidies to make it work – to purchasers, providers of charging stations, and last but far from least, electricity suppliers.

    These people seem to have no grasp of history at all. When petrol cars began to take off, there were no subsidies to purchasers, petrol stations or oil companies. It grew organically because they supplied what people wanted and needed. The companies (notably Ford) innovated to supply what people wanted at an affordable price.

    Top down manipulation of the market gave the world the Lada.

    There’s another problem with electric cars. Storage. At any time with IC cars there is fuel in the tanks at the ports/refineries, fuel in tankers in transit to servos and fuel in the tanks at the servos as well as fuel in the private cars. With electric you really only have the last of those without lots of pumped storage hydro or grid scale batteries (joke). The system is somewhat resilient with IC cars and brittle with just electric.

So as my electricity metre spun frantically all night, I asked myself, did he come to see me, or was I merely a convenient charging location? Perhaps the new norm will be to have friends evenly spaced at 250 kilometres along the main highways? And did he even consider for one moment that his efforts to save the planet were at my personal cost? He left, 96 per cent charged, with a cheery wave as he silently headed for his next charge – perhaps a long lunch at a friend’s home.

    It is a good idea. At the power point where the charging takes place, the host puts up a big sign “Vehicle Charging Station – Rate per hour is …..Pay cash before use.” The friends/relatives/guests can see the sign and then decide whether they still want to save the planet.
