Potentially The New Cat – First Open Thread 31 July 2021

Hi Cats,

As you can see I have created a copy of the Cat for you to continue to bicker, argue and occasionally make a reasonable point.

I do hope a solution is found with the original Cat but just in case Sinc doesn’t want to transfer the site to a new generation I have built a replica before the closure so we can migrate as many of the community across as possible.

Programming Note: I rushed out the site so there will be bugs. I can get them fixed but did not want perfection to get in the way for progress.

Community Note: Please let as many cats know of the new blog as soon as possible so we can capture the magic of the original. In particular would love for the original posters to continue their great work here.

Ideological Note: I am an infrequent poster but long time reader of the Cat. The discussions there have been a huge part of my own ideological growth on many issues. In particular free speech is key for me so will have a very similar light touch to the original Cat, potentially adopting my one policy on an earlier forum I built: “No D***heads” which is subjective but surprisingly easy to implement.

Website Note: I will run the Cat as close to possible as the original because I don’t believe in re-inventing the wheel. However if the community so wants I am happy to make changes to improve the experience so if you have any ideas let me know. For anything specific hit me up at the contact form, else go nuts in the comments.

What’s actually crazy is in The Hockey is that the Australian women lost 0 – 1 to India yet the men beast Germany 3 – 1, with a rather pusillanimous deflection from the Lithgow Lad in the dying minutes.

Belgium have had a lot of development in the EHL.

BEL and AUS are nearly equal in the mens with 1 draw each, no losses, 4 wins and BEL have a slightly better for and against, in an arguably stronger (GER & NED) pool.

Perhaps the penalty shootout against the Dutch was the real decider.

Some historically minded people suddenly realised articles that supported this financial friendship were all deleted from the NYT files but they’d taken screen shots.

You might be thinking of me Mark, but I was quite careful in what I wrote.

Greg Hunt has said he understands if GP’s write scripts of ivermectin, but that has not been widely reported and ivermectin clearly isn’t being encouraged. HCQ as far as I know remains banned in Qld, with really serious penalties attached.

What I said was GPs risk losing their medicare numbers if they prescribe it, which I think is a real risk. A suspension alone would be pretty catastrophic to their reputations and businesses. Hunt would not back a GP if the woke health system goes after a heretical GP. Which is quite likely in the current environment.

Five days a week, 9-5 for a year, Ragu, and another year for a thesis, plus hospital internships in a rural area, and completion of an original research thesis, all for the p/g medical degree of MPH. That actually means quite a lot when it comes to epidemiology. My endocrinologist also has the same degree, MPH. He said it is very useful in getting his research work recognised. Hairy thought what I did was an outrageous amount and would get me a PhD in any other field. Work that I did for my thesis got me an invitation to the School of Public Health at Stanford, and to The Kings College, London. I was also told by a supervisor that he could probably get me a Fellowship with the Centres for Disease Control in Atlanta in the US, given that I did top the year in Epidemiological Methods. Note that the ‘Centres’ is plural. Belittle all of that if you must.

I do have some reasonable background in making any research assessments that I make. Mostly, I lay off doing that here. I have a six page CV in matters academic, including publications and held a Senior Lecturship in a major university.

I’m only stating this because Johanna has made such a ridiculous set of accusations against me, constantly. She is, as Hairy puts it, a lightweight.

History buffing is my hobby. 😀

Not quite true, Mark. At least not in QLD. However, finding a doc who will actually prescribe it for you is another matter. However, there is a simple work around.

Chemist Warehouse (chemistwarehouse.com.au will happily sell you the same thing for dogs . Then it’s just a matter of adjusting dosage for weight.

But given that the so called “pandemic” is following Farr’s Law and is already well over the Bell Curve apex, you can probably give yourself far better protection against all colds and flu simply by taking a daily dose of vitamin D3, vitamin B complex, and Zinc. plus a decent multivitamin.

If you want to be really on the safe side add in Coenzyme Q10 and Magnesium.

    I liked this one today.

Hillary Clinton’s old campaign law firm uses China excuse to avoid Carter Page lawsuit (2 Aug)

The Perkins Coie law firm that helped Hillary Clinton’s campaign fund the now-debunked Steele dossier is using a China excuse to avoid being sued for defamation by former Trump adviser Carter Page. And so far, it is working.

“Three Perkins Coie partners are ‘stateless’ U.S. citizens domiciled in China,” the lawyers representing the firm and the Democratic National Committee argued in an appellate brief earlier this year. “That statelessness is imputed to Perkins Coie and forecloses the existence of complete diversity of citizenship in this case.”

In a little noticed ruling in late June, the 7th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago accepted the Washington D.C.-based firm’s claim that it was a “stateless” entity that can’t be sued in federal court.

So the Perkins Coie swampies are claiming they are Chinese, in defense of a defamation lawsuit by Carter Page where they accused him of being a Russian agent.

    That’s a good one!

If I was a GOP Senator I’d be referring a treason investigation of Perkins Coie to the DoJ right now, since they appear to’ve admitted they are Chinese agents.

It really amounted to reporting propaganda in the worst instances or piffle with Iraqi backdrops at best. But people believed CNN through hardnosed dealing had secured a much coveted spyhole into the country. For a while it added to their credibility…until it cut it right out from under them.

“What?” she asks again, looking twitchy nervous.
“Iverme .., oh sorry, the one for allergies, sounds the same.”
Her deep & obvious relief left me thinking that others had come asking for Ivermectin and likely caused big scenes when denied.

Never been employed as an epidemiologist, then. What does ‘university teaching’ where you ‘used’ it mean? 20 years ago?

You claimed to be an epidemiologist.

I’m almost of the same opinion as Dr BG, that is let the loons come out in the open and defend their lunatic claims, then we can either refute them or submit.

None of that is happening only repeating the same mantra over and over, worded differently. plus the gross personal insults spewed by Bird is not only disgusting but maybe against the law.

All for keeping diverse opinions but as I said prove it!
Repeating it ad nauseum is not proof.
They do not argue facts, they work on feels.

Birdy is obviously beyond help and redemption.

A few things here. Bird’s comments have definite legal ramifications; and he is paranoid. Alternatively, ridiculing aboriginal activism which not only lies but harms aboriginals as the great Jacinta regularly notes, is the measure of freedom of thought and speech against woke lies and damaging activism.

If you have an example showing otherwise please put it up.

I haven’t accused you of anything. I’ve simply said that you are not, as you claimed, an epidemiologist. Which you are not. You have plenty of form for lying, and here we go again. Like TheirABC, the pattern of your lies always goes in one direction.

There’s been nothing BUT adhering to and giving aid and comfort to the WEF/Davos etc. folks for years now. When was the last time you thought your politicians actually represented you? And that extends worldwide. Just look at the U.K., U.S., Canada, France etc. etc. When you consider the damage that has deliberately been done here and elsewhere, treason is an understatement.

    Fantasist,

I remember well a few years back – you were misbehaving much as you now are.

Having lost badly in the interplay of words with others, you retreated to attempting to tug at our heartstrings. Maudlin words ensued about how you were sitting alone in the garret – there you were forlornly dabbing at faux tears while gazing wistfully into the dark of night – lamenting how badly you thought you had been treated. Ignoring, of course, your constant reversions to the gutter language of the places from when you came.

When your painful entreaties fell on deaf ears, you did the flounce of all flounces – said you were leaving, and actually did so. Then, after two weeks – when it was clear that no-one was missing you – you pleaded with Sinclair to help you return. Regrettably, back you came to continue your fanciful nonsense and bogan behaviour.

I have to say that no-one really missed you back then – and no-one will really miss you if you go elsewhere now.

“Greens in hunt for candidate as Julian Burnside quits

Melbourne barrister Julian Burnside has formally abandoned his attempts to win Kooyong in a blow to the Greens’ attempts to seize the heartland Liberal seat.

It comes as Mr Burnside has been embroiled in controversy over family tweets targeting Israel over its treatment of Palestinians and Josh Frydenberg’s ethnicity.

Mr Burnside told The Australian he had let the Greens know last month he wouldn’t be contesting the seat, which has become increasingly challenging for the Liberal Party because of changing demographics and a greater focus on climate change among well-heeled residents.

Asked whether he would be running again in Kooyong, Mr Burnside said: “No I’m not: I gave them my decision a few weeks ago.”

Someone recently posted that Greg Hunt said that doctors can prescribe Ivermectin if that’s what the doctor and patient want.
    ——————————————————————-
That’s not what my doctor told me. Perhaps things have changed since then.

    ——————————————————————-

Greg Hunt grudgingly acknowledges in writing that Doctors *can* write “off-label” prescriptions for Ivermectin. The trick is finding one who will do so. All it takes is a complaint from a pharmacist working from National COVID19 Clinical evidence taskforce recommendations & then you’re being investigated by APHRA. It’s why so many people are taking the veterinary option (the equine formulation seems better value for money than the canine).
