Potentially The New Cat – First Open Thread 31 July 2021

Hi Cats,

As you can see I have created a copy of the Cat for you to continue to bicker, argue and occasionally make a reasonable point.

I do hope a solution is found with the original Cat but just in case Sinc doesn’t want to transfer the site to a new generation I have built a replica before the closure so we can migrate as many of the community across as possible.

Programming Note: I rushed out the site so there will be bugs. I can get them fixed but did not want perfection to get in the way for progress.

Community Note: Please let as many cats know of the new blog as soon as possible so we can capture the magic of the original. In particular would love for the original posters to continue their great work here.

Ideological Note: I am an infrequent poster but long time reader of the Cat. The discussions there have been a huge part of my own ideological growth on many issues. In particular free speech is key for me so will have a very similar light touch to the original Cat, potentially adopting my one policy on an earlier forum I built: “No D***heads” which is subjective but surprisingly easy to implement.

Website Note: I will run the Cat as close to possible as the original because I don’t believe in re-inventing the wheel. However if the community so wants I am happy to make changes to improve the experience so if you have any ideas let me know. For anything specific hit me up at the contact form, else go nuts in the comments.

“”The eugenicists/global elite/Klaus Schwabs/George Soros/Bill Gates et al do not believe in Climate Change™ . They invented the nonsense as a vehicle to deliver their plans.””
This is actually provable. I had a paper (long since lost) of a report on a meeting in, I think in Austria, in the 1960s chaired by Maurice Strong where they were discussing how to bring capitalism down, and wasn’t it their duty to do so! I thing that’s when they plumbed for CO2 as the method. If you recall, originally it was to be global cooling but the normal weather pattern stymied that so they went for warming. Now they just go for whatever actually happens. No evidence required. Anyone who still “believes in” (sounds religious, doesn’t it) climate change after climategate lifted the curtain is just not looking or very bright.

I didn’t realise until later that the ozone hole scam was just a dry run for this. And very profitable it was, too, forcing companies to change to more expensive and volatile gasses to “save the planet”.

Understood, but it isn’t just that, curating a blog also involves ferreting out new writers, content, etc.

I hadn’t thought that far, to be honest. Let’s just get something going which works without bugs and doesn’t feature constant blood libels of the sons of Abraham, then we can get to the other stuff.

….curating a blog also involves ferreting out new writers, content, etc.

Eliciting varied contributions is a constant requisite. Even more time will be spent on sourcing other content. A blog, especially one that is moderately successful, is a lot more than just sitting back and occasionally moderating the more lunatic posts on an OT.

You’re right. He should have said “*all* vaccines are a fraud”.

You cannot acquire immunity to viruses because they do not infect us on an acute basis. Indeed immunity isn’t just impossible but a category error.

The moment doctors discovered viral “infection” wasn’t typically (if ever) acute they should have abandoned the concept of immunity (and hence vaccination). Indeed they should have jettisoned germ theory entirely.

They didn’t. Because disease medicine is a cult.

You guys have seen the effects of this cult like thinking steamrolling all logic the past 18 months.

    I’ve seen it for decades.

Dan, in case you haven’t noticed it, there’s a handy blocking function in WordPress.

Go to the menu in the left gutter, click on SETTINGS, then DISCUSSION. Scroll down when the page loads and you’ll find two boxes ready to be filled with banned words and, in the second, offenders’ URLS.

Simple, easy and, judging by some of the brains posting their thoughts today, overdue to be used.

Yep – Rorschach & Bruce of Newcastle, me too. I have been hoping that this would be an acceptable choice ever since the govt put it on the list.

However, it appears that the company has not brought a previous product to fruition (!) & they currently have “production” issues. Geez, our CSL could have helped them out if this was the problem. Something is not quite right. Even the US Stock Exchange is not sure which way to go on Novavax.

What do we “vaccine sceptics” (not “hesitant”) have left?

As much as it pains me to say, I am actually glad to hear (despite that Mushroom person’s cryptic comments) that Pfizer is keenly developing the antiviral agent which sounds suspiciously like an Ivermectin type early treatment.

Yes, it is infuriating, since we know why that this is “suddenly” being pursued, just as we know why Merck (who developed Ivermectin) is also said to be developing ANOTHER similar type of product……the DOLLARS from a brand new patent.

But hell, if it means I can easily procure an early treatment (or even prophylactic) against the virus… what the hell. The truth is that, barring administering our cattle’s Ivermectin pour-on drench, it is damn near impossible to procure Ivermectin (as in, for example, Stromectol) online without an accompanying prescription.

Cash Cow #2. Saturate the market with poorly functioning vaccines that [inevitably] cause the original virus strain to mutate, and then come up with a treatment. [something like an ivermectin / hydroxychloroquinie with antibiotics and steroid cocktail]

And charge $150 a course on the Public Health plans [or better yet get the Govt to lock in bulk buy contracts for 20 years worth … which can then be destroyed on the quiet like the Tamiflu stockpiles] 🙂

At the entrance to Woolies is an employee with an electronic gadget taking down your details if you don’t have a QR code phone. The government has put the onus on businesses to comply or else they will face a huge fine.

Legally, is all this permitted? Can you be forced to give your details? If it was writing in a book, you can scribble Mickey Mouse. But with the store employee actually tapping in the details, what is the option? And now they want security guards?

Coles has these big screen security cameras at the entrance so someone must be monitoring who is scanning and who isn’t.

Vaccine technology is 100 years old, mRNA technology 30 years old. Liability is an issue not just for COVID vaccine but all vaccines. Trials have been conducted. Methinks getting your facts straight is rational. Assuming that because people choose to be vaccinated they are being sucked in is a remarkably supercilious attitude.

There are hundreds if not thousands of chemicals released into the environment and some present in our bodies which have not been subject to any testing, not even for basic toxicity, so perhaps you should think about wrapping yourself up in a big bubble.

This is not free speech. This advances no insight. It is pollution.

Winston – That’s surreal! They look to be pommy magpies. I’d be putting a strip of something along the top of that fence: they must try to perch on it then slip down.

Not much of note regarding the Cafe Bruce magpies, although the southern female is currently building a nest in a big eucalypt in the neighbour’s yard. She seemed to’ve found a string of Christmas lights, maybe 80 cm long, and it was hanging from the half constructed nest. But this afternoon she decided she didn’t like them so removed and dumped it on their lawn.

I don’t like her chances. Not only because her hubby is her dad, and the genetics are awful, but the crows often sit in that tree of a morning.

That is an admitted conspiracy theory because unlike what else I report, I have no proof. “”

Quite frankly, I was astonished. Since it’s inception, the main point in Israel has been to protect it’s people, to minimise the loss of life in all the various, unending wars and skirmishes. And now, suddenly, their own government is using them as guinea pigs for an untested chemical concoction, to the point of coercion. And it’s both sides since there’s been a change of government in the meantime and the new one is on exactly the same path. Quite extraordinary.

“Out of curiosity, you’re brother is a medical specialist. (ENT) Does he know your views on stuff like vaccines and the Spanish flu? If so what does he say and is he still speaking to you.”
    ——————

Can his brother be persuaded to help him?
He needs more medical treatment I think.
My bipolar son can get quite like this at times, about things on the net, thankfully not anti-Semitic ones. He goes haywire in his thought processes, up all night for days, they turn in on him. When he really really wants to sudddenly ‘save’ me in spite of heaping loads of abuse on me for days, I know he is getting desperate. As he gets desperate his concern for me grows because his dependence on me is coming out. Then his mania dies down and he is like a little puppy, glad to see me. I try to make him as independent as possible. But his life is one of rise on a high, flail, collapse, depression and finally, reaching out for rescue. Like many, he resists his meds.

It’s genetic, my dad was highly volatile like that, not vaccine linked.
Similarly for autism traits in my other son and his son.
There is an autist genetic patterning in their father (not Hairy) and his family.

    You do what you can.

Much better than any current one, I can assure you. I signed The Great Barrington declaration some months as ago, as an epidemiologist, joining in with renowned epidemiolgists totally against lockdowns. It was open also to signings from non-health related people: did you sign it? ”

You are not an epidemiologist, you studied epidemiology 50 years ago and never stop talking about it, especially how brilliant you were back then. Doing a degree half a century ago doesn’t mean a thing. Tell us – when were you last employed (if ever) as an epidemiologist?

Joining with ‘renowned epidemiologists’ (reflected glory) to sign a petition – whoopdee doo. I bet they thought – thank heavens we have Lizzie’s signature, or the whole exercise would have been greatly lessened in importance.

BTW, I hope you didn’t use too many big words in your no doubt minatory email to poor Adam. After all, to quote you, you need to use words that he can understand.

On such things the Frog/Spain/Portugal grid went within a nanowhisker of collapsing in the last week of July. Renewables are big in Spain especially. Betcha the ABC doesn’t mention this.

Power Grid Expert Warns: “Signs Being Ignored” As Europe’s Grid Teeters On The Brink (3 Aug)

The root of the problem on July 24th appears to be a firefighting aircraft unloading its cargo directly above an extra-high voltage line, causing a short circuit, during a wildfire.

“This apparently triggered resonance effects, which one minute later led to an overload of the coupling points and to the disconnection of the grid between France and the Iberian Peninsula,” reports Saurugg here. “The Iberian Peninsula was short of energy from around three large power plants, which could not be compensated for in the short term by other power plants. As a result, automated load shedding was triggered, leaving around 2 million people in France, Spain and Portugal without power for up to an hour.”

Swift action in the nick of time kept the blackout from spreading even further. Numerous services like commerce and IT still got disrupted.

The upside to all this is grid engineers’ pay will start to rival that of air traffic controllers.
