We have friends currently living in Portugal and their kids traveled from the US to spend time with their parents.

The rally met a blockade at parliament –  and to prevent attempts at passage, the police started spraying.  Good optics, as they say.

Yet the entire and large rally simply turned around and walked in the opposite direction, peaceably, and for a long way after.

There was some mention of false flags amongst protesters, I don’t know. But one fellow smashed a parked police van and then passed us by, ever so smartly, carrying a large metal frame he had used for the vandalism. He was on a mission, but not clear at whose behest.
So even if not false flags, they were two incidents from a distressed population.
Later, though, in the vic market area, massed police appeared on foot focussing on stragglers – some who were fleeing were let into the foyers of apartment blocks by residents.
Conjuerer, even I know that things are not always what they may appear to be, so it’s surprising to think you would attest to the truth of the particular footage.

I attended the Melbourne protest. I’m not good at estimating the number, but as the crowd moved it covered 1-2 city blocks. The media and Vicpol will naturally lie about the attendance. Groups gathered at a few intersections then joined up together at 12pm, going along Lonsdale St, across to Spring St, then turning back down Bourke.

I didn’t see any violence whilst i was there, people were vocal but didn’t threaten or harass anyone. As Franx mentioned above, it seems Vicpol flexed their muscle once the groups began to split up as things were ending.

There was one moment that made me a bit uneasy. I separated from the crowd and went down a side street. As i turned to back into the main street, the entire crowd was right behind me. I felt like i was leading the march.  I blended back into the crowd quick-smart.

It’s really heartening to see the people who attended. There are fighters out there.

Australians are being deliberately and methodically terrified, while enforced isolation weakens our resilience. It renders us more susceptible to the howls of panic, unchallenged by normal debate and conversation, forbidden to meet, discuss or express our disagreement.

We are turning on each other like medieval city states, while our basic human decency dissolves into brawls over toilet paper.

Two weeks ago I watched people having their behaviour shaped at Bondi, as two mounted police rode their large horses south along the middle of the beach, stopping at the towels of two young mothers and their four toddlers, tiny beside the horses’ hoofs, to order them to pack up buckets and spades and leave the beach. Thanks for keeping us safe.

The madness toggles between sinister and comical. Especially hilarious are the comedy stylings of the bullying dolt who is turning Victoria into a post-apocalyptic wasteland: it’s acceptable to remove your useless mask to drink coffee on the street, he declares, but an offence to do so to drink alcohol. It must be excruciating for black-clad Melburnians, paralysed indecision warming their espresso martinis.

Victoria’s Health Minister, not to be outdone as a stand-up comedian, alerted citizens to a prostitute’s positive test. “If you have employed a sex worker in the St Kilda area,” he said on Wednesday, “you need to come forward and get tested.” Employed? What, to do some gardening? Imagine the negotiation: “I don’t mind mowing, but it’ll be an extra $50 if you want full weeding.”

From vaccine hesitant to neo N A Z Is in less than a few weeks.  Ummm … OK.  Whatever labels you like.  Do your best.

    *********

One side is using armed force to try to prevent people from peacefully protesting against being held under house arrest for 22 hours a day on an indefinite basis, having their movements tracked, and being denied basic freedoms unless they consent to be injected with an experimental substance for which no-one has any liability if it kills or permanently disables them.

And the protesters are the “neo-Nazis”.

Where is the mirror image Spock with the goatee?

    — Abraham Lincoln

So damn appropriate at the moment.

    Indeed.

But it’s not from Abraham Lincoln.

    It’s from Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

Lincoln suspended habeus corpus to suppress dissent against his war, making him no friend of free speech. I’ve pointed this out a number of times here yet the incorrect and egregious attribution of these words to him still stands.

It’s an example of “fake history”, like much about Lincoln.

Bell’s aint a joke … got me a permanent hemi-facial spasm that is quite debilitating without botox to stop the twitch.

been nearly 20 years now so I’m kinda used to it.

obviously the botox helps to keep me looking hot as .

“It’s a bit like yesterday, enquiring of our mechanic about replacing a reported noisy engine mount in my wife’s CRV – I know nothing of the subject but it simply did not occur to me to make any enquiry about it here. Intelligent readers will understand that.”

    ********

Mick, would you still defer to the expert if he told you that the best way to fix the problem involved you letting him sodomise you?

A lot of what goes on here is the equivalent of people saying “hey guys, check out this link – there’s a qualified mechanic who says that engine mounts can be fixed without the owner’s spouse being sodomised”.

That’s info I’d prefer to know than not know.

Yes there’s a lot of dross here, but it gets back to the old issue, if we start restricting freedom of speech, who decides what’s really good intel and what’s banned. We can all see what the problem is just by looking at the ABC or the artists formerly known as Fairfax. If you’d rather trust people like Maximum Leader, Sutton, Weimar, Patton and Cornelius, go ahead. I’d at least want to cross-check with one of the few places where dissentient views still get published.
