This article is well worth reading and compares normal/expected average death rates across age ranges with deaths across age ranges attributed to/or with Covid, The author is German and uses figures for that country, but as he states, the analysis could equally be applied to most western countries. Importantly if we apply the same analysis to Australia we get a similar finding.https://brownstone.org/articles/a-closer-look-at-germanys-covid-mortality/

Lizzie was subjected to some satire for some of her self-referential anecdotes. It was genteel badminton compared with the ultimate cage fight nature of much of the Open Thread but it prompted an astonishing rush on fainting couches and smelling salts. There used to be a thing called a “sense of proportion”. I’d have no problem with anyone asserting that the satirists were overreacting if that’s what they thought, but there seemed to be a demand that commenters were under a moral obligation to treat Lizzie’s autobiographical propensities with the reverence of the North Korean media towards Kim Jong Un.

This can’t be right! Aren’t the Greens perfect in every way?

Senior NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge is facing allegations he bullied former female colleagues and staff over a decade, leaving one woman feeling “unsafe” and driving party members to write a formal letter of complaint.

The Australian can reveal multiple incidents where women in the party were allegedly targeted and belittled by Mr Shoebridge, who holds the No 1 spot on the Greens’ NSW Senate ticket.

Greens sources said Mr Shoebridge’s alleged bad behaviour contravened the party’s core principles of respect and nonviolence, and was well known among Greens staffers.

    READ NEXT

Review or no review, Teague is doomed
    JON RALPH
Lauren Gillin, a former policy and communications adviser who spent three years working for Mr Shoebridge, alleged in a series of tweets published on July 23 that her former boss had stopped a meeting to call her “unattractive” after she laughed at him.

In the subsequently deleted tweets obtained by The Australian, Ms Gillin said she was “far from the only woman in the party to take issue with him”.

“But it’s not ok for a guy who sells himself as a hero for workers. To (sic) humiliate his young female staff on the basis of appearance. Lots of workers have it way worse than I did but the greens and the left should expect better from their representatives,” Ms Gillin wrote. “(He told me) he was sorry I thought the comment was sexist and the(n) accuse (sic) me of starting a whispering campaign against him.”

The Australian is not suggesting the allegations are true, only that they have been made.

The allegations made by Ms Gillin, who worked for Mr Shoebridge from 2017 until early 2021, are considered serious enough by the Young Greens that they have drafted a formal complaint letter against Mr Shoebridge. They are considering lodging the letter, addressed to the Greens NSW convenor, with the party.

“It has come to the attention of the NSW Young Greens by social media that there have been bullying and unethical conduct allegations raised against Greens NSW member of parliament (MP) David Shoebridge,” the letter says. “The NSW Young Greens request that an external review of the allegations made against David Shoebridge are undertaken forthright.”

Given the pivotal role the Young Greens play shaping policy and cultivating support on the left wing of the party, the revolt against Mr Shoebridge could prove problematic for his attempt to enter federal politics.

After entering Macquarie Street in 2010, Mr Shoebridge won the NSW Greens’ top Senate ticket during preselection in March. He will look to become the party’s second senator in the state alongside Mehreen Faruqi.

In a statement, Mr Shoebridge didn’t deny using the word “unattractive”, but disputed Ms Gillin’s version of events, saying it was used in reference to her “argument”. “During a discussion about a media strategy I described the communications approach of a staff member as an ‘unattractive argument’. When a concern was raised I apologised at the time, and have reiterated my regret since,” he said.

Ms Gillin said she stood by her accusations. She said there hadn’t been an official approach from the NSW Greens about the allegations. Attempts by the Young Greens to secure an external review have been unsuccessful. Greens sources said there was disagreement about whether the Australian Greens had the power to compel the NSW division to launch a review. Others said there was an effort within the NSW branch to protect Mr Shoebridge. The incident involving Ms Gillin was not isolated according to other allegations made by several current and former members of the Greens who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

They said they had either personally experienced or witnessed Mr Shoebridge bully parliamentary colleagues or staffers.

Greens sources pointed to the experience of Jan Barham, a member of the NSW Legislative Council from 2011 to 2017. They alleged Mr Shoebridge’s behaviour towards her was part of a broader campaign of intimidation by the Greens “socialist” faction and a major reason for her departure from state politics.

The Australian has confirmed that Ms Barham was referring to Mr Shoebridge and his supporters during her valedictory speech in 2016 when she pointed to the “fraught” internal debate over the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions policy in 2011 – a Greens policy which sought to protest Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian Territories. “It led to the circulation of misinformation that inflamed some members and led to me being abused at a state delegates council meeting. The bullying and conflict involved in that situation left me feeling unsafe,” Ms Barham told the NSW parliament on November 17, 2016.

“In recent times there has been public exposure of some of the nastiness that has emerged in the Greens and it saddens me that some members exhibit behaviour contrary to the core principles of the Greens.”

In response to questions about Ms Barham’s speech, Mr Shoebridge said he had “disagreed with a former Greens MP” on the party’s response to Indigenous children being removed from their families.

“With the situation growing rapidly worse, I felt compelled to work with affected families to do what I could to ensure families weren’t torn apart,” he said.

Asked why Mr Shoebridge’s behaviour had not previously been made public, Greens sources said his political talents meant many MPs were willing to tolerate his alleged bad behaviour as they considered him indispensable.

Also, there was a fierce factional battle for the heart of the party which saw Mr Shoebridge and his allies on the “socialist left” wage a campaign against the “environmental right”. The battle saw many members of the latter leave politics, leaving Mr Shoebridge in control of the party.

Internally, grievances have been raised in the past. A 2017 partyroom meeting ended with Newtown MP Jenny Leong reportedly yelling “f..k you” at Mr Shoebridge, before storming out. She was joined by Senator Faruqi, who was then a member of the NSW Legislative Council, and Byron-based MLC Dawn Walker.

The allegations against Mr Shoebridge come just three years after Ms Leong used parliamentary privilege to accuse then MLC Jeremy Buckingham of committing an “act of sexual violence” against party aide Ella Buckland in 2011. While an external review found there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the complaint, Mr Buckingham was eventually forced out of the party. He denied the allegations, accusing his own “corrupt and rotten” party of running a “diabolical smear campaign”.

A spokesman for federal Greens leader Adam Bandt said the party wasn’t aware of any complaints being made against Mr Shoebridge. “The Greens have zero tolerance for bullying or harassment and treat all complaints seriously,” he said.

The NSW Greens said they had not received “any complaint, formal or informal, from the staff member in question or any party member on their behalf”.

If and when the Cat gets going again..I will strictly limit my comments on the open thread…..I will however comment on the other more specific threads…which is how I discovered the Cat to begin with. I don’t mind the OT being a rough and tough place….like a bar room saloon…it should be a place of humour, self-deprecation and also where people confront and are confronted…it is just that the OT has, of late, descended into a forum of vicious personal insults..dominated by a gang of four or five bullies…hypocritical bullies at that. Having experienced a pile on……it is not pleasant…but at least I was lurking on the site…and I could respond. It is not appropriate that LL (who has made himself master of the Cat), Nick, KD and Notabrain spend their time smearing people like you, Ellie, Lizzie and others when you are not around. Also Nick’s comments on Lizzie during the week were bordering on the obscene, were defamatory and were untrue. There was a nastiness on the site that I had never seen before.

I think that Sinclair…correctly…is giving a few people a much needed fright. And Sinclair…a few week ago, posted a comment where he asked that everyone try and be civil to each other…a rather reasonable request given the Kung Flu world we are currently living in….and those aforementioned names just ignored him….and then yesterday afternoon Sinc again requested some civility and once again…those same aforementioned names again flagrantly ignored him. Sinc is probably (and rightly) angry….it is his blog..not LL’s, not KD’s, not Notabrain’s and definitely not Nick’s.

I know…but tonight he sent me threats to release the emails….so I’ve done so beforehand. For someone who claims to care about a woman’s mental health…..he doesn’t care about mine…..but I feel good now I’ve released them.

I don’t think someone like him warrants being on a public blog. I had some compassion for him but every time he’s here he makes a fool of himself. The above is the sum total of our email correspondence…I didn’t post his emails because I actually respect his privacy….there were also two or three emails that incorporated other people like Struth and Cardi and one or two others.

    Agreed MT.
Who cares what people said in a supposedly private email exchange.
Only a complete arsehole would threaten to publish.
It’s the equivalent of a bloke venting to a mate in the pub because he is pissed off with his missus, then “mate” feeds it back to her.

It was last year and I was cross about the pile ons……so I apologise to the gang of four and anyone else who was involved.

And just for the record….when I received his threatening email tonight I sent him this..

“Why would you do this Peter? You’d be breaking one of the cardinal rules of blogging? It is very unkind and mean…something you accuse others of.

I reiterate what was said earlier, the lockdown had nothing to do with Ellie…it was because of an out of control fight between [ ] and [ ].

As I wrote tonight, the blog was rancid at the time…I experienced a pile on and Lizzie did. I don’t recall Ellie being around at the time of the great lockdown.

I don’t wish you any harm and you should also not wish me any harm. But you’re fixated on something that didn’t happen…..Ellie was not the reason for the lockdown. For someone who supposedly cares about Ellie’s mental health, this threat shows a callous disregard for my well-being. I live alone and, like Ellie, I’m also vulnerable.

You’re an adult….you should behave as such and respect private correspondence…which I always have. I most certainly don’t wish you any harm…….I don’t want to get involved in any of the spats….my comment earlier was to clear up the idea that Ellie was around during the lockdown. She wasn’t. I wasn’t being mean to you.

Last year, I emailed you, Cardi and Struth with the idea that it would remain private. This is very unkind and I don’t believe you’re an unkind person.

I don’t wish you any ill-will and I hope you will be a gentleman and just leave our correspondence private.
    Regards

    Cassie”

But he’s clearly not a gentleman.

The two greatest threats of our time (according to the Left) – so they are thumbing their noses at the restrictions that they demand of everyone else so that they can have a holiday and a chat:

”Overseas delegates for the UN’s COP26 climate conference in Scotland will be subjected to more relaxed coronavirus travel rules than normal travellers, an official has confirmed.

Up to 25,000 government figures, media, and environmental campaigners from around the world will descend on Glasgow, Scotland, in the first two weeks of November for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson determined that, despite the ongoing Chinese coronavirus pandemic, a meeting in person would achieve more than an environmentally-friendly virtual summit to stop alleged manmade climate change.

Easing of restrictions for those attending the climate conference, many of whom will be flying to the UK in aeroplanes emitting massive amounts of CO2, will include a shorter quarantine period for vaccinated delegates travelling from red list high coronavirus-risk countries and no self-isolation for those coming from amber or green list countries.”

The CDC actually put together a document to discuss putting high risk people into camps to “shield” low risk people from them.

This certainly doesn’t conflict with my impression that Mel Gibson has a much bigger, deeper, wider, fuller view of The Big Picture than most come close to.
He has to show it in images that speak directly to the spirit because the scholars bicker over jots & tittles so loudly that they too often drown out The Word.

Judicial Watch and The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) announced today that they received 252 pages of new documents from the US Department of Health and Human Services that reveal nearly $3 million in federal funds were spent on the University of Pittsburgh’s quest to become a “Tissue Hub” for human fetal tissue ranging from 6 to 42 weeks gestation. These documents were obtained as part of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in which Judicial Watch represents CMP and is suing HHS after it failed to respond to an April 28, 2020, FOIA request seeking among other things, the grant applications for a University of Pittsburgh “tissue hub and collection site.” (Center for Medical Progress v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services(No. 1:21-cv-00642)).
