What this basically appears to be is an attempt to retrain the public to change their speech to appease delusional people. The language that we were trained in over many years of our lives now is not sufficient for them.

It is widely accepted by scholars that Aramaic was the primary language that Jesus spoke. He would have also spoken a few other languages, including Hebrew and Greek, but he spoke with his disciples and his followers in Aramaic. And this is the language in which he taught his disciples, the Our Father.

I decided I wanted to learn to say the Our Father in Aramaic. So I began my research to find the right version. I checked out many sites and listened to many videos. There are several variants labelled Syrian Aramaic, Jewish Aramaic and other alternatives. Ancient versions and newer versions. Dialects and variations. All claiming to be the THE correct version.

Finally, I came back full circle to where I had started. I found a version – the text and vocal – and set about listening to the video, reading and learning it. I can now say the prayer – not perfectly. I’m sure there will be a few pronunciation errors. But I am still practising to improve and say it confidently.

Any wannabe learners, out there? Here it is.

The Lord’s Prayer (the Our Father) in first century Aramaic translated by Rev. William Fulco, SJ.

    Abun di bashmayya nethqadash shmak.
Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name.

    Tethey malkuthak.
    Thy / Your kingdom come.

Newe tzevyanak aykan di bashmayya af ba’ara.
Your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Lakhman di sunkanan yamana hav lan yoma dheyn.
Give us (this day) our daily bread.

Wa-shbuk lan khavine aykana, d’af hanan shbukan l’khayvine.
And forgive us our trespasses/ debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Ulo ellan lanisyana l’heyn atzeyl lan min beesha.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us /protect us from the evil one.

    Amin.
    Amen.

    The Our Father In Aramaic

It is prayed in this video by Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus in The Chosen. The prayer begins at 2:48.

Lord’s Prayer In Aramaic Chant – Pray Before Sleep

This is a compilation of some of the Syriac versions from the Eastern and Western Syriac churches. The prayer in Syriac is called Abwoon D’ Bashmayo.

Throughout ancient times, the churches in the East have been reciting the Lord’s prayer, each with their own distinct melody. While there are variations in the tunes, the rhythm and the pacing of the words remain the same. The Western Syriac churches, located in Syria and Palestine, sing the prayer to a harmonic minor melody, whereas the Eastern Syriac churches in Iraq sing it in the Phrygian mode.

While former President Donald Trump maintains a commanding 40-point lead over his Republican primary challengers, Vivek Ramaswamy has surged over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to take second place, a new Echelon Insight poll found.

Trump is the clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination, with 55 percent of likely primary voters supporting the former president. However, the longstanding second-place option, DeSantis, continued his descent in the poll, falling into third place.

‘Statue for fourth is nuts’: Matildas’ ‘over the top’ World Cup tribute criticised

… Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk unveiled a plaque featuring a photo of the Matildas’ reaction to Cortnee Vine’s matchwinning penalty against France.

Palaszczuk said the iconic image would be captured in a new statue outside Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium in honour of the Matildas’ World Cup campaign.

The Matildas will join the likes of sporting icons like John Eales and Wally Lewis to be immortalised in bronze outside Suncorp Stadium.

But not everyone is happy with the tribute. Former Australian basketballer Andrew Bogut and tennis player Nick Kyrgios said the Matildas’ fourth place finish didn’t justify a statue.

Bogut tweeted: “Matildas did well……Statue? No. A Gold/First Place is a statue and over the top celebration worthy achievement.

“Anything below is good, have a celebration or two, then move on.

“This goes for all Sports btw. A for effort, N for No statue.”

Kyrgios responded: “Agree. Great effort! Statue for fourth is nuts but they had us all on the edge of our seats! Next time.”

Ms Palaszczuk said: “There are plenty (of statues) there, celebrating our male sporting champions, it’s time we celebrated women as well…you deserve your place amongst the greatest.” …

Unvaccinated COVID deaths data was wrong

The Victorian Health Department wasn’t being completely transparent with some of its reporting of COVID-19 deaths data, information obtained via a freedom of information request has revealed. According to an update from the chief health officer in January, almost 47 per cent of Victorians who had recently died from COVID-19 were unvaccinated, despite that group comprising a tiny proportion of the population. The Age can now reveal that data was incorrect by a large margin.

The Health Department included the deaths of people whose vaccination status was unknown in its public reporting of unvaccinated COVID-linked deaths, including many vaccinated people whose status would later be confirmed. The public update said that of the 958 COVID-related deaths reported in the state in the previous three months, “46.9 per cent were unvaccinated”, representing 449 people. More recent data from the same period shows just 239 people were unvaccinated or their vaccination status was unknown.

Mike Jones: Reds under the Bed (and breakfast) in Britain? | MOATS with George Galloway Ep 265

George Galloway & Mike Jones were puzzled about the origins of the strong English anti-Russian sentiment, from where did this originate?

I think that the English Russophobia originated many years ago, around 800 BC, in Samaria in northern Israel. The English (Angles) were then known as the Aegels, a Hebrew name for a bull calf, the tribal symbol of the Israelite Tribe of Ephraim. They were the last defenders of Samaria, the capital of the northern tribes of Israel after the northern tribes seceded from the rulers in Jerusalem.

They were defeated by the Assyrians and taken into captivity in Persia, the other northern tribes had been taken captive in earlier Assyrian raids and they were taken through the Caucasus to the steppes above the Black and Caspian Seas.

The exiled Israelite tribes later overthrew their Assyrian lords and masters and setup their own kingdoms, the Aegels ruled over Persia for many years and established the Parthian Empire till the native Persians kicked them out and they migrated west until they ended up in Angle-land.

The Assyrians migrated north, up the Don and Dnieper Rivers, and their descendants now occupy European (western) Russia, the exiled Israelite tribes moved westward into western Europe and the British Isles.

Carl Jung coined the term “collective unconscious” and that is what causes the Russophobia in western Europe and in Britain, their ancestors were defeated and taken captive by the Assyrians and so the fear and loathing remains in their unconsciousness.

I’m with Hermoso on this. Kissing someone on the lips without invitation is taking a liberty, and doing it in a context where the deserved smack in the chops is not much of an option is doubly so.

When I was working, it never ceased to amaze me how many men thought that being introduced to me in a professional setting was an invitation to hug, even kiss, me. I noticed that they didn’t try that on my male colleagues. I quickly learned to stick out my hand for a handshake before they even finished saying my name, with matching eye contact of the ‘don’t even think about it’ variety’.

There is a list of people who are allowed to do that, and strangers are not on it.

Yes, we have some chats and responses – non-abusive. But it is mostly about coming in and sharing whatever we want, on whichever topic we like. News, info, opinion, experiences, feedback. And it is not an echo chamber. You can have views and opinions on issues that differ from the rest of the blog. I know that well. I am probably the only one on this blog who has certain views, opinions and conclusions related to the US 2024 Election.

We sometimes arrive at a point where we realise that what we thought we knew about someone or something was incorrect, as we did not have enough information to reach the factual conclusion.

As I have explained, with links to match, one of my errors was Andrew Tate. He seemed to be someone who had this clear vision of life and the reasons for Western decline. Turns out his philosophy is empty talk – it contradicts his lifestyle.

I’ve had some regard for Tucker Carlson because of his stated quest for the truth. But now, he has slipped a few notches. I’d read in the past that he gave people on his shows an opportunity to speak even when he didn’t share their views. Sounds good in theory. Free speech. But sometimes, in practise, a high profile interviewer can provide legitimacy to the wrong kinds of people.

This coming week, the first debate among Republican presidential contenders is scheduled to air at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 across Fox News platforms (US time). I am waiting to see if the rumours* are true. It will show whether Tucker Carlson is a believer in America First or Tucker Carlson First.

(*I came across some info today that states Tucker has already taped an interview with one of the candidates who will not be taking part in the debate. Tucker’s plan is to stream this on twitter at the same time as the debate on Fox.)

Alex Jones is widely derided in mainstream circles as a crazed conspiracy theorist but this reputation is belied by Jones’ record of accuracy in many of his predictions. Now Jones is telling anyone who’ll listen that the powerful elites who actually run things are planning to bring back pandemic restrictions including compulsory mask-wearing and other lockdown measures.

Guest host Craig “Pasta” Jardula, along with Jimmy Dore and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger, discuss the likelihood that Jones’ predictions, based on confidential sources, will prove accurate.

Is this an isolated case? I heard someone say that they knew of an aged care home that would be getting its dementia patients to vote Yes. The lady was not willing to provide further details.

‘Sound of Freedom’ Humiliates Blockbusters, Passes $175 Million

Currently, Sound of Freedom is the 9th biggest moneymaker of the year. Number eight is John Wick: Chapter 4, with $187 million. In its 7th weekend of release, Sound of Freedom cleared $2.6 million. There’s still some gas left in that box office tank, so there’s still a chance it could pass John Wick.

Wow, isn’t amazing what happens when you make a quality movie aimed at the other half of the country, the half that mainstream entertainment treats with neglect and contempt?…

Sound of Freedom has already announced some distribution plans in foreign countries. This will bring in more millions. Another lucrative source will be what’s known as the ancillary market: home video, cable TV sales, streaming sales, foreign TV and streaming sales…

The next BRICS Summit will be held in October 2024 in the Russian city of Kazan, President Vladimir Putin announced via videolink at the leaders’ gathering in South Africa on Wednesday. Putin noted that the chairmanship of the group will pass to Moscow next year.

Russia’s chairmanship will be held on the theme of “Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security,” the president said, adding that some 200 political, economic and social events will be held throughout the year and hosted by more than a dozen cities.

“At the same time, we plan to hold a BRICS Summit in October 2024 in the city of Kazan. We will agree on specific dates with our colleagues through diplomatic channels,” Putin said.

The Russian leader added that there are plans to hold several events in the “BRICS plus/outreach” format, which has so far proven successful.

I haven’t had the time to watch the Fox News GOP debate or the Tucker Carlson sideshow (mh link above). I’ve gone through a quick skim of short debate video snippets, articles and feedback/opinions from others across the media. I’ll have to view the debate and interview to get a complete picture, but I don’t think I have a total of 3 hours to spare.

An article in RedState – First GOP Presidential Debate

Opinions will vary on this, of course, but one of the main things I look for in a candidate for public office is authenticity. Do they come across as genuine, as someone who really cares about America? Are they someone who passionately wants to advance conservative ideals in order to put the country we all love back on the right track?

Further, I want to believe that the candidate is in the race for the right reasons – the betterment of their country and its people, and not themselves.

A Presidential debate and the covid vaccine is never mentioned.

    How out-of-touch are these people!?

A few comments in that thread.

    – The Fox News questions were written like you’d expect a NYC liberal-posing-as-a-conservative would do Because that’s what they were

    – They’re not out of touch they just don’t want to talk about the elephant in the room and some of them are probably responsible for it

    – About as out of touch as @TuckerCarlson
It was never mentioned in the Trump interview either.

    – Fox must be sponsored by Phizer!

    – Tucker didn’t ask Trump about it either. What a disappointment. I thought Tucker was better than that.
