A few thoughts on where we are as viewed from a coastal resort town:
Cafes and restaurants that advertise their boutique brand of coffeee are incapable of making a decent pot of tea.
You can’t order a simple sandwich anymore. Everything is on Turkish bread or sour dough.
There are a lot of fat people about who, judging by their clothing or lack thereof, feel no shame. No doubt the epidemiologists and their political enablers will get back to that public health crisis when covid resolves.
Some shopkeepers have taken it upon themselves to become enforcers of the mask mandate. Others aren’t bothered. The book shop owner looked askance at me as I entered sans mask. He lost a sale.
There was a bustling street market this morning with over 100 stalls, many with signs saying “cash preferred”. Being no fan of the tax man I would have happily obliged them if only I could have found something to buy. My wife, of course, had no such problem.
One gets the sense that people are quite happy to pay the price Palascczuk asks just to have a more or less normal life in the bubble of Qld (as they appear to be in WA). Perhaps they’re pinning their hopes on the vaccination program? The politicians are going to have difficulty managing those expectations when that fails to deliver the promised result.
And dissent lurks: someone has painted “Covid 19 The Big Reset” on the side of a building.

WTF are you talking about. I’m pro vaccine but concede there are issues with the vaccines.
The issue for me is the chunk virus was developed in a bio warfare lab so there are bound to be issues with the vaccines. But generally vaccines are great. I’m so in favour in vaccines that I give myself a needle every day just for practice.

Numerous times, Harry said that in the main few people change their position. That means you’re not going to change his mind or anyone’s point of view, and even the undecided, if there’s really any of them left in the place, must have no interest at all, since this debate has been going on for decades.
Saying, therefore, that physics hasn’t changed since 2007(?) when the IPCC report you were quoting from came out, didn’t sway Harry and I doubt it will convince anyone else: for Harry, 14 years is a long time and the average person doesn’t think in epochs.
So wouldn’t it be better to point out the nine(?) claims in the Gore movie that came a cropper in the Court – since everyone who cares about the subject knows about that movie. In fact, when I was listening to you, I thought, tell me about those errors.
Fabrications and lies tend to wake up people and showing that the other side fabricates should help the global realist position – you’ve got to chip away at the beliefs underpinning the position. Think about Quine’s Web of Belief, which is why Rowan Dean has done so well on his weekly segment on Global Warming.
Does anyone outside of science care whether man made CO2 is only 3% of the total output – really, how many people can do basic maths anymore to understand what that means? So bring your argument down to their level. What about the relationship between CO2 and what we eat? What about the greening of the planet increasing food production yield per hectare, thereby helping more people to be fed with less fertilisers, which is a positive story – we’re helping out the reef, doncha know! 🌈.
And one more thing…
well done, today 😁

From the Hun.
“Australia’s gender wage gap doesn’t discriminate by age, with boys receiving more pocket money than girls each week.
Comparison site Finders Parenting Report 2021 reveals parents give their sons and average of $10.30 a week, while their daughters received $9.30 – amounting to a yearly difference of $52.
The national poll of more than 1000 parents with children under the age of 12 also found that covid had not completely stifled pocket money growth, with many receiving more cash then they did a year ago.
All those who receive a weekly allowance, one in 3 were lucky enough to get a pay bump. More than half were receiving the same amount of money, while almost 1 in 10 were being given less.
Dr Kimberley O’Brien, principal child psychologist at the Quirky Kid Clinic, said she didn’t believe paying boys and girls different pocket money amounts would be accepted in most families.
“It’s possible some families pay more than others and then, overall, boys are getting paid more,” Dr O’Brien said.
“But if it does exist, I think over time that gap will decrease … because so many girls are aware of the glass ceiling and pay inequality, and they’ll be starting to push back on this earlier in life.”
So there you have it, misogynist parents as well. Strangely omitted by Dr O’Brien would be the type of chore performed and how often chores were done by the boy or girl. My head hurts.

If already posted, here it is again. If not, it’s worth a read.
this goes to the question many have asked, what are the legal boundaries that may have born crossed in e.g NSW where Brad Hazzard is using Public Health Orders
The Curious Case of the Unlawful Public Health Orders
Davey Boy, thanks for sharing this article link.
Even though the lawyer, Peter Fam, says it is his personal opinion, he has provided several links to back his opinion on several aspects of this “curious case”. Some important points from the article:
《I also want to draw your attention to the two sections which immediately follow the sections about what a Control Order can do.
Section 94 says that, even if a Control Order is issued in relation to Section 90 (examination), Section 91 (body samples), Section 92 (vaccination or treatment) or Section 93 (medication), that Control Order must be carried out in a manner consistent with both “appropriate medical standards” and “appropriate other relevant professional standards”. It would be fair to say, for example, that an “appropriate medical standard” is the doctrine of informed consent, so arguably, a Control Order could not be carried out on an individual who did not offer this consent.
Secondly, Section 95 says that force “must not be used against an individual to require the individual to comply” with any of the measures listed above.》
《But, the blanket directions to do the above in NSW are not consistent with the strict requirements associated with those restrictions or mandates in the BSA.
So, any direction purported to be made under the PHA, which goes beyond the scope of the BSA, is invalid.
So, on that basis, if someone has been told they must get vaccinated, or tested, or even to wear a mask, and they haven’t received a personal biosecurity control order, which itself is compliant with the various checks and balances in the Biosecurity Act, telling them to do so, then that mandate is not valid.》

Yep, that was going to be the guts of my argument, those 9 errors which really create a narrative. But I distracted myself by attempting a segue from a previous boofhead caller and then got further distracted by talking about the 2 issues about CO2, the small human contribution and whether CO2 is the main GHG. For someone who’s always followed the laws and was very worried and happy to have everyone locked down last year, his opinion has shifted 180. Yesterday, he said that Gladys has got to go and he no longer has any faith in Morrison. That’s a huge shift in position.

Taliban Morning Show
So, Gooooood Morning, Afghanistan, I’m your host Mohammad Ka-lishni-Kov or as some like to call me, ‘Freakin’ Big Beard’.
It’s sooooo good to be back with you after the loooong break. And goodness, I do mean loooong. Not your usual 30 second CM break by any means. No, sir, Omar! But who’s counting, eh? Anyone can be away for 20 years, right? But don’t worry, we’ll soon be properly thanking the guys responsible for that. Yup, very, very soon. And if you already see spray paint on your doors, you’ll know who we mean.
Now, for those of you thinking we are the same old, same old Taliban – boy, have I got news for you.
We are ‘21st century Taliban’ and we did our homework, we did our Focus Groups’ surveys and we know now just what you want, or should I say, we now know what you need to want. But patience, patience. We’ll get back to flogging and child marriages to dirty old men in our ‘Here’s Kabul Today’ corner of the program. So, keep your eyes peeled for that – or we might do it for you. Hey, no, just a little levity there. Chill, people. Uh, oh, too, late. Afaziz there, actually did peel some eyelids off. Naughty, naughty Afaziz, you have to wait for the gun you know. Oh, you did. You peeled his eyes off with your gun. Right. Well, let’s not be quite so hasty in future, eh. That’s why we have kangaroo courts, OK?
Now, don’t forget, we are looking to feature your videos on the program, and if you have questions for any of guest former cave dwellers, we are waiting to hear from you. And don’t forget to include your address and the time you will be at home too, so we can send a special prize to the winner of the most revealing questions.
Coming up next, our long-term screen beauty, Niloofar, will give you the WhatsApp address to send your questions to.
Before that, though, we must consider, that renegade bunch of no-gooders at Kabul airport, ISIS-Korasan, right? What a bunch of losers, yeah? They didn’t care who they killed. Talk about lack of moral clarity, wow! Soooo glad we are not cut from the piece of sackcloth. Pariahs, to the core! Glad we, at least, are sticking to the straight and narrow. The day you catch us doing something like that, you can string us up by our womenfolk and throw all the stones you want. Boy, let that bloodletting begin. Yeah, or maybe not.
So, with that said, Niloofar, over to you for the WhatsApp address….
AD: Silently Gestures….
Host: What?
AD: She’s covered up.
Host: What? Oh, for Christ’s sake. I mean, yes, of course, Allah be praised, you won’t actually be able to see Niloofar, of course, under her burqa. Oops, sorry forgot that. So, Niloofar, let’s hear it from you…
AD: And voice.
Host: What?
AD: No, voice.
Host: FFS, oh, yeah, right, of course, Goddit. OK, now, we know you all wouldn’t want to be immorally aroused by her voice, either, so we will be substituting Niloofar’s voice with your favorite Imman, ‘Gratingz.’ That should be a real treat for you lovers of the Top Ten Chanters of the Call to Prayer. Bet you can’t get enough of that, right? So, stay tuned.
Coming up next, though is our Special Report, ‘Your Prayers Are Answered.’ In this segment, we are going to show you just how wonderful a medieval belief system can be when it comes to fixing the problems of the modern world. And in our first report, we are going over to the little-known, Afghan National Nuclear Power Generation System, now fittingly renamed the ‘Oh My God, It’s A Nuclear Power Station!’ Our reporter on the ground, in fact, ‘Ground Zero’, very soon quite probably, is Aziz Dimwit. Aziz, can you hear me? What’s the situation like there?
Aziz: Well, Mohammed, since our brave and fanatical fighters had to execute the chief technician and her assistants here as they were all women and, shame on them, working, there is some concern that our divinely inspired warriors might have been a little hasty in their judgment when they machined-gunned everyone in the main control room.
And, that is also why you might be having a little difficulty in hearing me over the rather insistent alarm bells that are, quite frankly, ramping up a terrible headache I have after last night’s overindulgence in peppermint tea at the ‘Martyr’s All-You-Can-Slaughter-Is-Yours Buffet and No-Dance Family Get-Together.’ No family allowed, though, of course. But boy, was that ever a riotous loll-on-the-cushions and choke on the hookah event or what?
Now, I think I should warn you that the fervent prayers we are offering up here at the ‘Oh My God It’s A Nuclear Power Station’ are perhaps taking a little longer to be answered today than we might have hoped, but what with all the other calls being made on Allah’s time at the moment it’s probably only natural. There’s almost certainly a switchboard of some sort and menu options you have to go through to get to the Great Man, so let’s just be patient, OK? In the meantime, if you have any leverage with the helicopter pilot on the roof of your building you might want to think about initiating your evacuation plan very soon. Looking forward to seeing you with all the virgins in the place where working women..aren’t……allowed, er, probably?? Oh, wait a moment, that..doesn’t..make….a lot of sens……….
Video and audio are suddenly replaced by a static buzz and microwave background….
Back to the studio…
Host: Bejesus, the dear prophet! Well, that was shorter than I’d expected. And it seems that with my heli warming up that’s all the time we have today. Stay tuned for the next program, ‘When Immans Make Lunch Doilies’ followed by ’Tell Us Your Associations With The Last Government And We Will Let You Keep Your Hands.’ Or maybe not. So, enjoy the afterlife, suckers.

“Churchill, Roosevelt and Eisenhower were all war criminals”
CL would agree with you on this, not that I’d dare speak for him.
You need to move out of the past. It’s over, Squire. We are facing more pressing challenges now. Like dealing with Standartenführer Klaus Schwab of the Davros people.

Ok, you heard it here first. The Old Coast long weekend superspreader event/fair. Thousands attending, masked 5% including 3 portly guardians of the law who clearly didn’t want to be there. Even the poor sod whose job it was to hold up the QR code for scanning took the day off. I think, though it’s hard to remember, that this is how life used to be. Should be an interesting week in Qld poliartics.

*We’ll get back to flogging and child marriages to dirty old men in our ‘Here’s Kabul Today’ corner of the program.*
Um, our allies were doing that, with boys chained to beds.

Bunnings , you now need to be a tradie with a trade card or have a trade card to enter, with Mitre 10 you don’t need to be a tradie or have a trade card card to enter.
Having been to both I believe Bunnings are the Neville Chamberlain of hardware stores.
The name Bunnings even sounds Nazi-ish.

It has been epic, Rupe. No quite up to OldCat standards, but they’re getting there.
That’s what I love about both – unherdable!

The intention of this post is not to curry favour or seek allegiances.
JC/RC seems to have some emotional problems for which, he needs professional counselling.
His constant harassment of numerous contributors over many years – on the original Cat; this forum and now, Dover’s New Catallaxy is pretty nauseating.
Poor widdle JC/RC felt the need to carry his vendetta (I call it stalking) across to New Cat. I have ignored JC/RC’s rantings about me there, which has obviously enraged him. (I didn’t take his bait!) I have respect for Dover. Apparently, JC/RC doesn’t.
I don’t expect for one second, readers would be bothered in the slightest to revisit the thread where poor JC/RC melts down and subsequently launches a barrage of attacks upon me – lasting weeks, so I will save you the hassle:
The thread in question relates to Adam D’s opening of this particular Cat. The majority of posters are in praise and support of Adam’s effort to get a Cat up and running at very short notice
Let’s throw the window open, allowing the stench to escape and the truth flood in.
I won’t be linking to the thread. JC/RC can do that, if he has the balls.
Here we have JC/RC questioning Adam’s bona fides.
At 6.32 pm JC/RC said this:- “Can I ask…
I’ve been commenting at the Cat since about 2004. I knew Jason Soon as he was was reasonably well known in the Ozblogosphere. After he decided to give it in, Sinclair took over the site until now.
Who is “Adam” and what are his beliefs? A decent bio would be great to introduce himself.
The first time I’ve heard of Adam was when there was initial discourse between him and Dot. Now it just appears to be an Adam show. Who is he?”
Yes, I defended Adam D and I am now a target for JC/RC’s vitriol for this!
At 6.59 pm I said “Ruprecht says:
August 1, 2021 at 6:48 pm
“Rosie’s clue is correct”
And it matters? How and why?
Adam has done all of us a massive service – for which I am very, very grateful. Those questioning his bona fides – fark orf.”
At 7.11 pm JC/RC says this: “JMH
You fuck off. Doubly. You obviously don’t understand the query even though it’s clear enough that a 5 year old would understand. You moron.
At one stage monster wanted to take over the site by hosting it. How did you feel about posting there?”
I fired back at JC/RC at 7.24 pm, obviously ruffling his not so lustrous plumage “You fuck off yourself, you twat. Monster’s “attempt’ to host the site was a clear shitestir and has nothing to do with calling for Adam’s credentials. You gormless wannabe. Now piss off and do not respond to me again.” (My bold)
More abuse from JC/RC at 7.44 pm “JMH
I’ll respond anytime I want fuckhead. I would like to know who is this Adam. You obviously don’t care because you’re shallow imbecile.
Stop pretending you can dominate a discussion, you flea-rake
Fuck off and stop talking.”
LOL me trying to dominate the discussion! Too bloody funny.
My reply at 7.56 pm was “English is not your first language, obviously. I said do not respond to me and I meant it.
At 7.59 pm JC/RC then launched this ethnic attack on me. (My bold)
“JMH
Thanking KC doesn’t support you argument, you good little German fuckhead.
My comment about Monster taking over hosting the site was a parallel argument asking how would you feel if you found out later who he was. You moron. Get off your knees as it’s disgusting.
A major Australian right wing blog is essentially being taken over by someone I don’t know much about and neither do you. Before telling people to fuck off after blowing the new guy it’s best to find out who he is.
You dickhead.”
JC/RC to this day, is still raging about my so-called ethnic slur against him – but lookie above! The hypocrisy is scalding!
JC/RC went on to attack other posters for standing up for Adam.
And on and on it went for weeks. The all-knowing JC/RC seems to think I am a poster by the name of Marcus Adonis and (PMSL) living in Queensland. Poor deluded ‘tard.
I do not expect the rabid cur to acknowledge his hypocrisy nor manipulation of the truth, nor do I expect an apology. Gutless grubs don’t admit when they are wrong.

*********************************************
I’d say this blog here should be referred to as Copy Cat – because Adam D said he had taken a copy of the original Catallaxyfiles – apparently with Sinclair’s blessing. None of the others is an actual copy/
Yes, I know – folks here refer to this one as Dash-Cat – because hyphen.

The label ‘yob cat’ was a self labelling by an inhabitant here of dash cat.
Not sure who, Dover’s was called wanker cat by the same person.

I wouldn’t worry too much about nicknames.
Trying to herd Cats is fraught. Best not to try it.
