Young Turks admit they were wrong about Rittenhouse.
    Young Turks don’t do research:

‘ Speaking about the currently ongoing trial during a show last week, the Young Turks co-host explained that she previously thought Rittenhouse chased after a man named Joseph Rosenbaum before fatally shooting him.

However, video of the incident shows Rosenbaum chased Rittenhouse as a third person fired a gunshot into the air, causing Rittenhouse to turn around and shoot Rosenbaum.

“I was wrong about that, okay, so I want to correct the record,” Kasparian said. “Look, these details matter, because if you’re going to make an argument that you acted in self-defense, there needs to be some proof that there was an imminent threat.”

“Now, what really mattered to me was how all of this unfolded,” she continued. “What was the thing that sparked it, what started all of it? And, initially, I was under the assumption that Rittenhouse was the person who was chasing after Joseph Rosenbaum — that’s how it started. But I was wrong about that. I was in fact wrong about that, and to show you the evidence to reinforce that I was wrong about that, I want to go to this video.”

Thank goodness this kind of thing doesn’t happen anymore:

A statement by former Australian prisoner of War, Captain John J. Murphy, about medical experiments conducted on himself and others whilst held prisoner at Tunnel Hill Camp, Rabaul (New Britain):

“Dr Hirano conducted malarial experiments on myself and others. We were carefully examined, blood-slides taken twice daily and results recorded. I and another had positive results, about six others had negative. These men the Dr collected [from those held prisoner by the Japanese at Rabaul] and told them that he was going to inject the blood of healthy Japanese into them.

Two of the men were very weak and sick and the experiment was generally conducted without proper medical supervision and in the absence of decent medical conditions. Myself and Sgt. Palmer of the USAAF who had shown a positive daily result to malaria tests were injected on two occasions with 20 ccs of a serum which the Dr had said had been formed in live sheep. His object was to try and immunise Palmer and myself against malaria. Speaking for myself I was willing for the experiment to be conducted.

The two sick men injected with blood died a few days later and the Dr was not present, and although telephone for did not arrive. Some of the other men developed malaria and did receive a little quinine. Before the experiment the Dr informed them and particularly me as the senior officer of the prison camp that those men had been many months in prison without mosquito nets and with poor food and that they had no malaria. He considered they had developed an immunity and was anxious to see if he could promote malaria by injecting them with the blood of those Japanese soldiers.

After the two men died he expressed his regret and said they had malignant malaria and their death was not due to the blood injection. When peace was declared he congratulated us on our survival and again referred to his experiment and carefully informed me in the presence of the others that the Japanese soldiers whose blood he had used had developed and [sic] immunity to malaria and he thought that by injecting their blood into the prisoners-of-war he could induce a similar immunity in the prisoners. He was very careful to make this point clear and that the experiment was for our benefit and health.”

Terry McCrann asks a pertinent question.

‘Why hasn’t adjunct professor John Skerritt resigned or been sacked as head of the Therapeutic Goods Administration, the body that approves – and supposedly monitors – the Covid vaccines?

Back in August, when approving the Moderna vaccine, while standing next to the prime minister at Parliament House, Skerritt made a patently false – and what’s more, a ludicrously false – claim about its effectiveness.

It was a claim that has not been withdrawn or ‘clarified’ by the TGA since. It throws into serious question the competence of the TGA and our ability to trust it to provide effective regulation of the vaccines and Covid medications more broadly.

Skerritt said that the vaccine was 100 per cent effective against death. Not 99 per cent or even 99.9 per cent, or even a more generalised ‘almost 100 per cent’. But an absolutely unqualified 100 per cent.

These are his exact words, taken from the transcript of the press conference at the PM’s website. “Moderna is even after six months, it’s proving to be 93 per cent efficacious against any infection, 98 per cent against severe disease and 100 per cent against death”.

For the more visually inclined, you can Google “Morrison, Skerritt and Moderna” for the YouTube video and watch as those words emerge from his mouth.

As stated, Skerritt’s claim can have only one meaning. If you get the Moderna vaccine – whatever your age, whatever your medical condition – you will not die of Covid. I’ve been waiting to see if any so-called ‘experts’ would call him out on it.

I’ve been waiting to see whether he would personally ‘walk the claim back’; or whether the TGA would ‘clarify’ it; or try to get around the ‘problem’ by ‘updating’ the data on the Moderna vaccine effectiveness.

There hasn’t been a peep. It stands today as the ‘official’ TGA assessment of the Moderna vaccine.

As such, it should also raise the huge question of why we are therefore still using the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines.

No-one would sensibly claim they are 100 per cent effective against Covid death. So why aren’t we using exclusively the only one that the TGA asserts IS 100 per cent effective against death? Especially, as it must mean – as stated by TGA head Skerritt – 100 per cent effective against death, even for the very old or the immunocompromised or with serious co-morbidities?

It was a nonsense claim when Skerritt made it in August. That not a single person among those in the US who had already received the Moderna vaccine had subsequently died of Covid. A study by the CDC – the core US government organisation, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention – found that 9 per cent of the deaths in a sample of 6748 Covid-associated deaths between April 4 and June 19 in the US (616) were of fully-vaccinated people.

These were people who would have received mostly either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or, a smaller number, the AstraZeneca-like Janssen vaccine.

A more recent study, published last week in Science, of the vaccination status of 780,000 US veterans, showed the Moderna vaccine was 85.1 per cent effective against death among those aged under 65 and 75.5 per cent effective in those aged over 65. Earth to Skerritt: that’s not even 90 per cent, far less the 100 per cent you so ludicrously claimed.

That was precisely an example of the sort of exaggerated and obviously false claims from supposed experts that provide such fertile fodder for conspiracy theories and anti-vaxxers.

It would be bad enough coming from a politician or a generalised ‘expert’; but coming from the head of the TGA it is totally unacceptable. Skerritt must resign or be sacked.

Otherwise, how can we trust the TGA about anything?’

These issues are not just about the environment. They will have profound economic implications.
There are great opportunities associated with these changes, but there are also great risks for Australia. It’s not a one way street.
Taking action on climate change is extremely important for the health of our planet.
Australia is doing its part and we will continue to do our part to achieve our target of net zero emissions by 2050.
Australia has already reduced our emissions by more than 20%. Now, I’m not sure a lot of Australians know that.
Our emissions are going down, not up. They’re down by more than 20%. You may say to yourself, or others listening in, “oh yeah, other countries, they’re doing so much better than that.”
Not true, as Angus Taylor and I had the perfect opportunity to share directly with them, whether it was in Rome at the G20 or at COP26, because a 20% fall is broadly in line with what’s being achieved across the EU. While reducing our absolute emissions by more than 20% since 2005, our economy has grown by 45%, proving that emissions reduction need not come at the expense of economic growth. And at the same time we developed one of the world’s biggest LNG industries.
Our latest projections show our emissions will fall by up to 35% by 2030, and it may well exceed that. But, what I do know it exceeds is the Paris commitment that we gave of 26 to 28%.
A lot of people are making a lot of claims about what they’re going to do about this. What I know is what Australia has done, and what Australia will continue to do. Now, this is happening because Australians are making their own choices, you’re not being told what to do by government or international bureaucrats overseas. That’s not the Australian way.
There is no better example than the fact we have now hit 3 million rooftop solar energy installations in Australia.’

‘Aussie rooftops are now the nation’s biggest power station, reducing carbon emissions in 2021 by more than 17.7 million tonnes. And this will owner increase more and more in the future.
More than one in four houses and many non-residential buildings have installed small-scale rooftop solar. And we’re adding up to 2000 small solar installations every business day.
Now, some of you might have heard I was in Rome and Glasgow recently for the G20 and COP26. A little bit went on while I was there.
The pandemic, economic recovery and the global response to climate change, that was my focus in my engagement with leaders while I was there.
My discussions at these events, and indeed Angus’s, reinforced my core beliefs about how we, as a free, open and enterprising society, should approach these challenges.
No one passed a law or introduced a tax or passed a resolution at the UN that led to the world developing a covid vaccine. No one passed or introduced a tax for the world to move from analogue to digital. Google and Cochlear were not invented at a UN workshop or summit.
Just as the animal spirits of enterprise have worked together with scientists and technologists to change a world in the past – and we’ve seen that here in this very city – through advances in medical science and digital technology, I am more than convinced they also hold the answer to solving the challenge of a decarbonised economy.’

Biden pledges to battle ‘too high’ prices as inflation surges

‘In many respects, Glasgow has marked the passing of the baton from political diktats of targets and timetables, which have had their place and are necessary, to private enterprise and the millions of dispersed decisions, choices and flashes of inspiration that make up consumer-led technological progress.
We believe climate change will ultimately be solved by “can-do” capitalism; not “don’t do” governments seeking to control people’s lives and tell them what to do, with interventionist regulation and taxes that just force up your cost of living and force businesses to close.
“Can-do capitalism”, not “don’t do governments”. I think that’s a good motto for us to follow not just in this area, but right across the spectrum of economic policy in this country.
We’ve got a bit used to government’s telling us what to do over the last couple of years, I think we have to break that habit. It’s had it’s place, sure.
The issue in responding to climate change is no longer about if, or why or when, we’ve had that debate. It’s all about the very practical question of how.
The world does not need to be punished for climate change, we just need to fix it.
    And it will be fixed.’

‘And it will be fixed painstakingly, step-by-step, by the entrepreneurs, by scientists, by technologists, by innovators, by industrialists, by financiers, by risk-takers.
That’s the Australian way. That’s the way I’ve been championing on the world stage. And like-minded capitalist market-based economies should be doing the same.
As Liberals and Nationals we have far more trust in those who will risk their own capital to bring about these innovations then governments using your tax dollars to tell you what to do.
And I think Australians, after almost 2 years of governments telling what to do through this pandemic, they’ve had just about enough of that approach.
That approach does not come easy to us as Liberals and Nationals. It just doesn’t. Every fibre of our being in many of the decisions we’ve had to take, it goes against our instincts, it goes against our grain, but it was necessary.
But what you can take from that is we’ll reset, back to letting our economy do the work and let those who drive it be able to do that work as quickly as we possibly can, because that’s how you will see the Victorian economy roar back to life.
As we work to secure our economic recovery and future, we must secure Australia’s place in this new energy economy.
Again, my time in Glasgow affirmed my belief Australia can – and must – chart its own unique path for achieving net zero emissions by 2050.’

    Below* From Dover’s Cat;
I mentioned that I couldn’t sign the petition against Daniel Andrews newest, Hitler-esque Powers being made “legal”.
I wasn’t the only one who needed more than a few attempts but I was the only one told off for bringing this to the cats attention.

I fully believe that these pathetically low numbers are a combination of the multiple, changing ‘glitches & bugs’ that prevent people from signing, that they actively remove numbers and that those not already spooked by Daniel Andrews Dictatorial Powers become worried about being put on a “List” when they try & fail to sign the petition & so give up trying.

*”I still can NOT accept that this petition is kosher.

The many attempts by many just to sign, is a good enough indicator that many who wanted to, would give up, but the numbers also going backwards, well add that into the mix and that’s where we need serious investigative journalist with wide & popular reach digging deeper

    E-petition Number 402
    Title
Reject the Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021

    Grievance
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the community opposes the Andrews Government’s Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.

The Bill hands enormous power to the Premier of Victoria, possibly perpetuating a pandemic dictatorship. It is undemocratic and a complete tyrannical overreach of political power. It inhibits proper Parliamentary scrutiny, transparency and potentially impacts scheduled state elections.

The Andrews Government has not consulted with the public on its powers.

The community specifically objects to the Bill granting the Premier wide sweeping powers to declare a pandemic despite low case numbers in the state of Victoria and potentially in the absence of cases, issuing pandemic orders for a period of time without the support of state parliament, and having the power to apply pandemic orders to classes of persons who can be identified by their characteristics or attributes, including but not limited to race, gender, religious, political belief or activity.
    Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council reject the flawed Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.
