If we’re not prepared to change our minds in the face of a test that demonstrates the opposite, then we’re embracing a story.

    Seth Godin’s blog.

One of the problems with this is that we have been programmed to believe that acknowledging objectivity, evidence, or truth, depends on the source of the information, rather than the content. If the information comes from a discredited source, it cannot possibly be true. This interpretation then reinforces all future analyses (as such) of information from the same source. Thus NOTHING from a discredited or distrusted source will EVER be interpreted as truthful, regardless of how, when, and by whom, it is delivered. The only effective response to this is to challenge/reposition the source’s reputation. Tweaking the content in any manner will not bring a change to the outcome of the messaging, if the perception of the source remains negative.

  7. Muddy says:

Another part of the problem (see above) is that humans are wired to respond to and believe in, stories. It’s how we make sense of the complexity around us.

The message being that our opponents are so much more effective at story-telling (which ‘we’ regard as negative, despite the regular outcomes), than we are.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A week after abruptly canceling plans to attend the United Nations climate summit in Scotland, California Gov. Gavin has receded from public view to deal with unspecific family obligations.

When the surprising announcement was made Oct. 29, his office said Newsom planned to participate virtually in the conference this week. But he did not. Spokesperson Erin Mellon now says he will appear virtually next week.

Newsom’s last public appearance was Oct. 27, when he received a coronavirus booster shot. His office did not respond to questions Friday about what the governor has been doing this week.

While sustainable aviation fuel and more efficient planes would be key components for the shift, Ms Hrdlicka said the airline would “look at every single lever in the mix of emissions and offsets to try to get as close to net zero emissions well before 2050, wherever that’s possible.”
The Cruise Line Industry Association also announced it would pursue a net zero goal by 2050.

Much like Obama’s party, the sophicated set in Australia. The Hun:

‘There are fears of a growing Covid cluster from lavish Melbourne Cup victory celebrations.

The winning owner Ozzie Kheir tested positive to Covid-19 on Friday with at least two other linked cases confirmed on Monday.

But there are now reports as many as 15 guests who attended the function have now tested positive.

About 100 guests were at the celebrations, including high-profile sports stars and business heavyweights.

Health officials have told those who attended to monitor for symptoms.

Mr Kheir, the Verry Elleegant owner, told the Herald Sun he was feeling well and has been isolating at home with his family.

Mr Kheir, a prominent property developer, said authorities were unsure where he had been infected and there was no evidence it was during Cup celebrations at lavish restaurant Society on Tuesday night.

“I tested positive on Friday evening and I’ve been isolating ever since. I actually feel perfectly fine,” Mr Kheir said.

“I thought maybe it was alcohol withdrawal after Saturday and Tuesday but the test came back positive.

“In all seriousness, though, I have no symptoms and feel perfectly fine.

“I’m not sure what has happened; they said it could have been from anything and they just don’t know. Obviously all my friends and family have been tested.”

Fellow owner Brae Sokolski returned a negative test, as did other members of the syndicat, who partied for several days after the historic win.

He said the Covid cluster was a “storm in a teacup”.

“I’m fine, I tested negative. Absolute storm in a teacup,” Mr Sokolski said.

“I’m aware that there may have been some instances of positive tests … but that’s no one that I’m familiar with.”

The Department of Health has urged all party attendees to monitor for symptoms as investigations continue.

“If anyone has Covid-19 symptoms, they should get tested as soon as possible,” they said on Monday.

“Stay alert for updates as details of exposure sites are subject to change based on new information.”

While restaurants are not considered high-risk locations, all dine-in patrons and staff are required to be fully vaccinated.’

Military onlookers will be intetested in this. I am not one but this looks an exercise in cover thy arse:

The father of an Australian soldier killed in 2012 during the Afghanistan conflict has claimed families were threatened and intimidated by an Army brigadier to keep the circumstances of the attack a secret.

Hugh Poate’s son Private Robert Poate and two other ADF soldiers Lance Corporal Stjepan ‘Rick’ Milosevic and Sapper James Martin were killed and two others wounded when rogue Afghan soldier Hekmatullah turned his gun on them in the troops’ base in Uruzgan.

Mr Poate has told a parliamentary inquiry into Australia’s 20-year Afghan engagement, Defence had abandoned all the families and sought to, at best, obfuscate and, at worst, hide critical facts about the 2012 incident.

He said the lack of transparency continued today and questioned whether Defence still lived up to its famous decree that it had “a contract with the nation”.

But his most damning evidence related to alleged bullying by a high ranking ADF officer as they sought to limit the political fallout from the murders by Hekmatullah, who earlier this year was released from jail and is being hailed a hero by the Taliban now back in control of the country.

Hugh Poate, whose son Robert was killed in Afghanistan by the Taliban, was the first witness at the Public hearing into Australia’s involvement in Afghanistan at Parliament House, in Canberra. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Gary Ramage

According to Mr Poate’s evidence today to the defence and foreign affairs committee, at the end of his son’s inquest – the only coronial inquest into combat deaths in the 200-year history of the Australian Army – he was approached by Defence with an extraordinary demand.

“During the inquest, on the final day of the inquest, families were intimidated and threatened by the head of the chief of the defence force’s personal staff that if we disclosed any of this contrived secrecy – that had been shown to be contrived – to the media we would face action by the Attorney’s General,” he told the committee in Canberra yesterday.

“That’s the way the families of fallen soldiers were treated by defence at that time.”

The contrived secrecy he referred to was an internal military inquiry into the incident that Defence had so heavily redacted it barely made sense; the same report was included in the coronial inquest and was largely not redacted.

The brigadier who made the alleged threat was referred to the ADF Inspector General’s office which concluded matters could have been dealt with better.

“It’s unreasonable and unfair that all the facts are still being covered up in this internal inquiry report,” he said.

Sgt Hekmatullah, the Afghan soldier who murdered three Australian troops. Picture: Supplied

Mr Poate, a former agricultural economist who with his wife Janny now work with dozens of veterans battling mental scars, also said there was a “feudal system gap” between officers and ranks, particularly with job preparations for after military service.

Defence has defended how it managed the evacuation of Kabul prior to Taliban control, including how it managed to airlift 4100 people.

It revealed in the immediate period before and during the evacuation, Defence received over 15,000 emails in 10 days seeking “locally engaged employee” queries from Afghan wishing to flee the country.

It declined to comment on the threat posed in Kabul by al-Qaeda and Islamic State Khorsan Province (ISKP) due to it classified national intelligence.

It also formally stated it had no details of Hekmatullah after his jail release by the Qatari government, as negotiated by the Taliban and US force.’

Truth be told. If Heller was to be invited to a public debate on anything, he’d run amok. Data wins the day.

    You-don’t-shoot-your-mouth-off-unless-you-know-what-you-are-talking about.

Tim Flam would be destroyed in under 5 minutes. Considering Heller is data cruncher, good luck to the jab pushers. Yet to see a formidable foe against Heller. None, Zip, Zilch, Zippo… Nada, exist!

I wonder if Heller has received his YT plaque for achieving 100k subs?

It’s all coming to Queensland, mh, as we knew it would. People to be forced to have this distressing injection with unknown side-effects, or simply become shut-ins and eventually prohibited from attending the GP or a hospital or paying extreme amounts of money to do so. Frightening situation.

The Singapore government is simply scapegoating the few unvaxxed.

The reality is Singapore had one of the highest vaxx rates in the world. Then the restrictions were lifted and Covid ran rampant over there, filling up the hospitals with fully vaxxed patients.

Rather than admitting that the Covid vaccines are rubbish and the government got duped, they blame those that they label as “hold-outs”.
