In more cricket news, I expect a show of solidarity from the Ladies Big Bash League. The Hun:
‘Afghanistan cricket chief as Azizullah Fazli says women’s cricket will be streamlined under the Taliban.
Fears have increased that the women’s game under the hard-line regime will be outlawed, a prospect that has sparked calls for the country to be banned from the international arena.
“Our government is streamlining things, and women’s cricket will also be streamlined,” Fazli said.
Australia’s cricket chiefs have threatened to cancel a historic maiden Test between the two countries – set to take place next month – after a senior Taliban official said it was “not necessary” for women to play.
Before being out in 2001, the Taliban banned most forms of entertainment, and stadiums were used as public execution venues.
Women were banned from playing sport altogether.’
So I expect a Commonwealth Bank advertising pitch featuring Megan Schutt and Jess Jonassen that women’s cricket is great and inclusive. To be filmed in Kabul. Because they like to grow the game yeah?

‘Australians want action on climate change. And so do I.

But they also don’t want their electricity bills to skyrocket, the lights to go off, for their jobs to be put at risk or for the way of life in rural and regional communities to be sacrificed.

Australians want a 2050 plan on net zero emissions that does the right thing on climate change and secures their future in a changing world. They also want a plan that is fair and practical.

People in rural and regional areas know the impacts of climate change far better than those of us living in the cities. But the burden of taking action on climate change should not fall unfairly on rural and regional Australians, especially those dependent on traditional industries such as mining and agriculture.’

  6. Black Ball says:

‘Only the Liberals and the Nationals working together can be trusted to get this balance right.

We understand the threats faced but also the opportunities that can be realised.

There have been few issues more challenging for the Liberals and Nationals during the past twenty years than addressing climate change and its impact on rural and regional communities.

Our decision to now agree to a plan to achieve the target of net zero emissions by 2050 has not been taken lightly.

We didn’t just agree to this without carefully thinking through all the consequences and impacts, especially in rural and regional areas.

We have not and would never make a blank cheque commitment or impose new taxes, as Labor has, to achieve net zero. That would leave Australians footing the bill.

Decisions overseas are bringing about major changes in the global economy that will impact on Australia’s future prospects, both positively and negatively.

As Prime Minister I am determined to shield our nation from the negative impact of these changes while positioning us to take advantage of the many opportunities presented, especially for rural and regional Australia.’

  7. Black Ball says:

‘At Glasgow I will confirm that Australia will continue to play our part. We will set a target to achieve net zero by 2050, and have a clear plan for achieving it. I always said I would not set a target to achieve net zero by 2050 unless we had a plan to achieve it. We now have that plan.

We will do this the Australian way. Through technology, not taxes. By respecting people’s choices and not enforcing mandates on what people can do and buy. By keeping our industries and regions running and household power bills down by ensuring energy is affordable and reliable. By being transparent about what we are achieving, and expecting the same of other countries.

And we will invest in rural and regional Australia to ensure they succeed and are protected under our plan.’

    Report comment
  8. Black Ball says:

‘I will remind the world that emissions in Australia have actually fallen by more than 20 per cent on 2005 levels. That is more than New Zealand, Canada, Japan and the United States. We have beaten our 2020 emissions reduction target and are well on our way to meet and beat our 2030 target.

We won’t be lectured by others who do not understand Australia. The Australian Way is all about how you do it, and not if you do it. It’s about getting it done.

We will also not be breaking the pledge we made at the last election by changing our 2030 emission reductions targets. I said we would meet and beat this target and we will. So at Glasgow I will update what we now believe we will achieve, demonstrating that performance is worth more than empty ambition. That’s the Australian way.’

‘The path to net zero is also not a straight line. In fact, as Bill Gates argues, forcing outcomes by 2030 with unrealistic targets can divert resources from technologies with longer lead times that will be essential to achieving 2050 objectives. So we will keep making sensible commitments and doing our best to exceed them.

Key to this approach is investment in new energy technologies, like hydrogen and low cost solar, to ensure our manufacturing, resources, agricultural and transport sectors can secure their future, especially in rural and regional areas.’

We have taken the time to deal with the hard issues that need to be confronted to get it right. We have listened carefully and understand both the concerns and the strong aspirations that Australians have when it comes to dealing with climate change.

At the end of the day it all comes down to whether you have a credible plan to get the job done. It’s no longer about the ‘if’, but the ‘how’, and Australians can always trust the Coalition to have the right economic plan to enable Australia to deal with the challenge of climate change.’

‘It really is quite extraordinary – the way almost the entire political class has declared economic war on their own country and not just the current 26m Australians but all future generations as well.

By ‘political class’, I most certainly do not mean only the politicians.

The term also encompasses big business, the business lobbies, almost all so-called think tanks, academia, almost the entire media, social media techno-dictators, the ‘twitterati twerps’ that infest their platforms, mixed assorted commentators, and of course all those main-chancers greedily eyeing the tens, maybe even hundreds, of billions of dollars of your money that will mandatorily be channelled their way.

They are all united in seeking to attack the Australian economy, plain and simple; to permanently and significantly reduce the standard of living of all present and future Australians.

It is bad enough that with a handful of very honourable exceptions, the entire political class has signed up to the national suicide note that I wrote about first with Kevin Rudd’s carbon tax, by abandoning the use of fossil fuels which have provided the plentiful, cheap and reliable power on which not only all economic progress but indeed our very civilisation has been built.’

    Report comment
  46. Black Ball Black Ball says:

‘But it has now become an exercise of criminally irresponsible suicide-on-steroids by refusing to aggressively embrace the only mitigating alternative to the mindless mass hysterical stupidity – the nuclear power that I wrote about last week. If we are to, mindlessly, abandon coal and gas, we have to – we have to – embrace nuclear power and do so very quickly and by sweeping away the unnecessary road-blocks that render nuclear supposedly ‘uneconomic’ by turning what should be 6-10 year builds into 20-25 year ones, and so impossible.

Historical analogies – especially those built on a certain former German dictator – tend to be the first resort of the simple-minded sloganeer and fraught with non-sequiturs.

But in this case it is hard to avoid the comparison with the 1930s. That what almost the entirety of the world has embarked on is the energy equivalent of that decade’s appeasement.

Indeed, worse than appeasement: across the developed world, it’s unilateral energy disarmament in the face of the 2020s version of Hitler’s Germany – President Xi’s China. Back then, the political class turned a blind eye to Germany’s re-arming; now the far more numerous – and believe me, greater numbers do not spell greater cognisance – political class turns a similar blind eye to China’s energy re-arming.

This is a China which not only already has the world’s biggest ‘fossil fuel armoury’, so to speak – emitting close to 30 per cent of all global CO2 emissions. But a China which is intent on building its ‘fossil fuel armoury’ ever bigger; is embarked on building, according to Global Coal Plant Tracker’s mid-year analysis, a further 88GW of coal-fired power.

Not planning, not ‘thinking about’, but building, right now – more than three times the entire generation capacity of Australia’s brown and black coal fired power stations.

According to Global Tracker – to emphasise, an anti-coal site – China had another 159GW proposed for construction. And behind China, follows India, Indonesia and Vietnam – a total of more than 250GW (around 10 times Australia’s fleet) either constructing or planned outside China.

And let’s not forget Vladimir Putin’s Russia, maybe prepared to pump a lot more gas, to fill, so to speak, the depleted energy armouries of western Europe as they’ve energy-disarmed themselves.

More CoverageGreen option as Origin offloads APLNG stakeWoodside plans ammonia plantMinRes jumps as Wodgina restarts

Maybe, pump more gas; and at a price – at least financial and potentially also political. The developed world’s energy suicide pacts is all built – in the absence of nuclear – on fantasies; the newest of which is hydrogen, supposedly in turn produced by massive either wind or solar installations.

    Why?
They told us it would be happening on their own websites and videos.
Scott Morrison and the rest, many WEF induction course winners like Greg Hunt…..are traitors and are at war with us and want us dead .
They will not tolerate a democratic election!
Didn’t tolerate it in the USA and it will be even easier to pull off here .

I can’t wait for the COP-OUT farce to end so that we get some relief from the tsunami of lies about climate currently blasting through the MSM to support The Cause.

Today, I present TheirABC’s so-called ‘fact-check’ unit doing dirty deeds about polar bear numbers, while taking a swipe at arch-enemy Gina Reinhart along the way:

Mrs Rinehart’s claim doesn’t check out.

Reports on populations of polar bears produced by leading experts do not provide a time series for global populations of the species.

Rather, they group polar bears into 19 subpopulations ringed around the Arctic circle.

For a substantial number of these subpopulations, the short and long term trends in population growth or decline are unknown, and for four of them, there is no data to even make an estimate on the size of population.

Quelle surprise! They are doing the same as they do when temperature data don’t fit the narrative. If you read down, they say that they are now ‘adjusting’ some of the previous estimates of polar bear numbers because they were too low – so the apparent increase in numbers is conveniently wiped out. Where have we seen that trick before?

Alternatively, they claim that in some locations there is insufficient time series data to make an assessment – which would be much more convincing if they hadn’t been telling us confidently for the last 20 years that ‘da bearz is doomed.’ Now, suddenly, there isn’t enough data that they approve of to make a call.

Oh, and the international body they cite is firmly and unashamedly in the catastrophist camp, yet they call themselves scientists.

What a bloody farce it all is.

Dude, any and all civics lessons in this stupid country will inform you that the gov’nor signing off on a bill is convention. I am unable to identify the era when our learned betters could be reliably relied upon to stop stupid law. Regrettably, the last time it happened the left lost their shit because a sovereign continent should be able to borrow off a fella running a pyramid scam.

Without the evidence that govnors have always acted in the interest of the omnibus ticket holder, then it is beyond reasonable to say that a position has never existed and the gov is just a rubber stamp. A horrible position to be in personally, if you had ethics.

Thats one fatal flaw in this country, figureheads can always be got around. The english parliament is proof of that. The other one is our authority bodies are put in place by the politic, and the people have no say or recall.

I must say I’m enjoying the mid-evening Bond films with Roger, Sean and George. Cheesy by modern standards. Last night’ villain was Jaws, Richard Kiel. Biting through steel cables with just his teeth. I was a late teenager when this came out and in the local pub was a lad who had had his teeth knocked out. He had a mouth full of temporary silver teeth that looked just like them. Drove him nuts with everyone calling “Jaws” across the pub. Now I would never do such a thing cos insert grievance here.

    In Circle The Wagons noos:

‘The assistant director who handed Alec Baldwin the loaded weapon that killed a cinematographer had been sacked from a previous production for gun safety violations, the company said.
The news came as it was reported crew members use that same weapon for live ammunition target practice on the day Halyna Hutchins died.
It was also revealed a Baldwin was practising drawing his gun from his holster and pointing it at the camera when he fatally shot Hutchins, according to a search warrant affidavit.’

    Further:
‘Attention has focused on Halls and 24 year old are Hannah Gutierrez-Read in the wake of the tragedy on the set near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
An armourer is tasked with supplying and keeping weapons safe onset, ensuring they are accounted for at all times, and locked away when not in use. But entertainment trade website The Wrap reported on Monday crew members had been using the weapons just hours before Hutchins was killed.
“A number of crew members had taken prop guns from the New Mexico set for the indie Western, including the gun that killed Hutchins, to go ‘plinking’, a hobby in which people shoot at beer cans with live ammunition,” the website said, citing an individual with knowledge of the set.’

So Baldwin will walk. But we knew that.
And just why crew would just pick up the gun without consulting any bastard is baffling, considering the gun laws.
