The famous poem, Nada Te Turbe was written by St Teresa of Ávila (1515–1582), the great Spanish Carmelite nun, mystic, and Doctor of the Church.

Here is the poem written in her own handwriting.

    Translated in English, it reads:

    Let nothing disturb you,
    Let nothing frighten you,
    All things are passing,
    God never changes.
    Patience always conquers.
    Whoever has God
    Lacks nothing,
    For God alone suffices.

The poem is sung as a Taize chant. I do not know Spanish, but it was easy enough to learn to sing along or just to listen to.

    Taizé
    Nada te turbe

It has just two verses. They are repeated as a chant.
The English translation is in brackets

Nada te turbe,…………(Let nothing disturb you)
Nada te espante………..(Let nothing frighten you)
Quien a Dios tiene……..(Whoever has God)
    Nada le falta………….(Lacks nothing)

Nada te turbe,…………(Let nothing disturb you)
Nada te espante………..(Let nothing frighten you)
Sólo Dios basta………..(For God alone suffices)

And, yes, today is the feast day of St Teresa of Ávila. 👼

Are you pro-vaxx and anti-butter? Pro-jogging and anti-weightlifting? Pro-Ukraine and anti-Hungary? Pro-BLM and anti-PBA? Etc. Holding the right opinions—i.e., adherence to the doctrine—is the defining characteristic of our elite. We should stop vilifying people based on their political views.
We should avoid tribalism like the plague, and when we feel impelled to voice our views do so with patience, humour and assuming that this may be the first time any listener has been exposed to centrist or slightly right views.
Above all we should avoid the libertarian model of debate that resorts to mockery, abuse, accusations and misrepresentations of others views.
Read this account from Wikipedia of James Cagney’s political journey and remember that you may be speaking to similar people with genuinely held beliefs. I can’t help but think that Cagney’s friendship with a good man like Reagan had a positive effect on him:
    ..

Cagney was accused of being a communist sympathizer in 1934, and again in 1940. The accusation in 1934 stemmed from a letter police found from a local Communist official that alleged that Cagney would bring other Hollywood stars to meetings. Cagney denied this, and Lincoln Steffens, husband of the letter’s writer, backed up this denial, asserting that the accusation stemmed solely from Cagney’s donation to striking cotton workers in the San Joaquin Valley. William Cagney claimed this donation was the root of the charges in 1940. Cagney was cleared by U.S. Representative Martin Dies Jr. on the House Un-American Activities Committee.
Cagney became president of the Screen Actors Guild in 1942 for a two-year term. He took a role in the Guild’s fight against the Mafia, which had begun to take an active interest in the movie industry. His wife, Billie Vernon, once received a phone call telling her that Cagney was dead. Cagney alleged that, having failed to scare off the Guild and him, they sent a hitman to kill him by dropping a heavy light onto his head. Upon hearing of the rumor of a hit, George Raft made a call, and the hit was supposedly canceled.
During World War II, Cagney raised money for war bonds by taking part in racing exhibitions at the Roosevelt Raceway and selling seats for the premiere of Yankee Doodle Dandy. He also let the Army practice maneuvers at his Martha’s Vineyard farm.
After the war, Cagney’s politics started to change. He had worked on Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential campaigns, including the 1940 presidential election against Wendell Willkie. However, by the time of the 1948 election, he had become disillusioned with Harry S. Truman, and voted for Thomas E. Dewey, his first non-Democratic vote. He would also support Ronald Reagan in the 1966 California gubernatorial election.
By 1980, Cagney was contributing financially to the Republican Party, supporting his friend Ronald Reagan’s bid for the presidency in the 1980 election. As he got older, he became more and more conservative, referring to himself in his autobiography as “arch-conservative”. He regarded his move away from liberal politics as “a totally natural reaction once I began to see undisciplined elements in our country stimulating a breakdown of our system… Those functionless creatures, the hippies … just didn’t appear out of a vacuum.”

This will probably go on for quite some time, but many people still seem to be of the mindset that things will return to “normal” quickly.
Will the libertarians who repeated the “inflation is transitory” line admit they were wrong and reflect on why they were wrong?
Interest rates may come down. May. If they do, then the next wave will likely be even higher.
I think the rest of the 2020s will be about inflation, interest rates and war.
The millennial generation is coming of the age where they need to consume, form families and careers, but ideologically they think all that will destroy life on Earth. When needs meet ideology, slowly, slowly ideology will slink away.
We watched as the baby boomers went in the space of a decade from hippydom, communes and peace and love to “greed is good” and yuppiedom. Their children are even more f*caked up, and the transition will be an even more violent convulsion to the dark side and quick abandonment of childish innocence.

Just finished reading one of Michael Connelly’s crime novels which is set in the Dec 2020–Jan 2021 time-frame.

On one hand, we have Bosch who seems to be uninterested in wearing masks and getting jabbed. I supposed Bosch was supposed to represent the ignorant, bad, anti-vaxxers. Then, there is Ballard who is pro vax, pro masks, pro social distance. She is such a good citizen, she drives Bosch to the jabbing centre to get the jab.

It is about the masks, jabs and “Trust the Science”.

We also hear about that insurrection to stop the certification of the election. Ballard watched CNN to get the news – the lawlessness, storming of Capitol to try and change the result of an election in which 160 million people voted. No names are mentioned, but the bias is clear.

I had pegged Connelly as a good crime novel writer with Conservative leanings, not a lefty-wokey.

But who knows – maybe the publishers lean on and “advice” that certain points need to be included in his novel as:
    – Promote masks and vaxx
    – Add diversity-inclusivity with a non-white female detective
    – Also a qwerty “couple”

He has sold enough novels and made plenty of money. He needs neither fame or fortune to sell a novel. So if established millions-of-dollars novelists submit to their publishers’ selling points regarding their novel content, it may be that they don’t have strong convictions.

Yellen told a World Economic Forum virtual session that while the debt-to-GDP ratio is higher than in the past, the interest burden “is very manageable.”

The Biden administration’s fiscal policies that pair further spending plans with tax increases are “designed to make sure that those interest payments remain manageable and the debt to GDP stabilizes at manageable levels on a long-term basis.”

This update is rated R for language. I drop an accidental F bomb. Sorry.. but I was upset talking about scientific censorship, and faking the earthquake information. I get upset when people do that.

Someone has a problem with me calling out the professionals. Someone shut off my stream while I was calling them out. Lucky I was recording!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and they sure seem desperate to stop what I’m doing.

I’m watching for a M8.0 range quake in the next few days, and suddenly all the deep earthquakes stop WORLD WIDE?! Yeah right.. sure guys.. whatever you say!

It would appear someone (or some group) is committing scientific fraud in regards the seismic info from the professionals.

READY FOR RISHI Rishi Sunak’s allies launch blitz on party bosses to ‘send in men in grey suits’ to oust Liz Truss from No10

Truss will be gone by the end of the week, to be replaced by Sunak. He won’t be there for long either as there will be an early election and Starmer will move into No. 10.

Kwarteng gone. Elensky curse coming for Truss. Sunak next in line
