    When Vaccines meet Science Fiction
    3RD MARCH 2023

The following paragraphs are taken from the book Anyone who tells you vaccines are safe and effective is lying: Here’s the proof – which was published in 2011

‘The vaccine industry never stops looking for new opportunities and researchers are constantly talking about introducing new vaccines. Although new vaccines are forever being introduced, vaccines are rarely if ever withdrawn – even though the diseases involved may be rare or mild. The drug companies can always warn: ‘If the vaccine isn’t given then the disease will come back.’

The search for new vaccines for old diseases is endless. Some plans are imaginative. Scientists have apparently developed a banana vaccine by creating genetically engineered banana plants. There are plans to develop bananas which `protect’ against hepatitis B, measles, yellow fever and poliomyelitis. Other scientists have developed a genetically engineered potato designed to be used as a vaccine against cholera. The active part of the potato remains active during the process of cooking and so a portion of genetically engineered chips could soon be a vaccine against cholera. (I am not making this up.) According to a British nursing magazine, nurses are now calling for a vaccine to help stop the norovirus. Giving a vaccine is, presumably, easier than washing your hands. Similarly, fat people are constantly demanding a vaccine to enable them to keep eating cakes without ever getting fatter. There are, so I am told, vaccines in the pipeline for just about everything ranging from asthma to earache. There is a planned genetically engineered vaccine which will provide protection against 40 different diseases. The vaccine, which will contain the raw DNA of all those different diseases, will be given to newborn babies to provide them with protection for life. Inevitably, countless scientists around the world have spent enormous amounts of money and energy trying to create a vaccine against AIDS. A vaccine that makes sex safe will be worth a fortune.

Naturally, the pharmaceutical industry is constantly searching for more and more new vaccines and wherever they spot the beginnings of a market, a demand, they will do their best to serve up something appropriate. I have lost count of the number of times I have read of researchers working on a vaccine to prevent cancer.

Meanwhile, the drug companies continue with the old faithfuls; the profitable cash cows which keep the billions pouring in. Every year new flu jabs appear on the market.’

On issues that are hot topics, type up your answer offline, in a document. Read it, edit it. Cut off anything that is not in keeping with the rules. Make sure you are providing your opinion or experiences without being rude or inflammatory. Don’t take what anyone says, personally. Don’t get personal in your response.

I use the offline option for my longer comments because WordPress can suddenly have a hiccup and what I have typed is gone. But I also make sure to read what I am saying, edit it, take off any bits that shouldn’t be said on a public blog before I hit that Post Comment button. I still sometimes let through some things I regret when the comment appears, but I try most of the time to say what I want to, without breaking the rules.

There is much in AB Test’s rant which I agree with, for example I noticed that when the protests began in Sydney against the mandates, lockdowns, etc., the protestors were predominately from western Sydney which is where most of Sydney’s Muslim population resides. I cheered them on then and congratulate them now for taking a stand.

He’s wrong though to lay the blame for the degeneracy of western society exclusively at the feet of the Boomers. I’m in that generation as are most of my friends and acquaintances, and none of them like what’s going on and none of them supported it. It seems to me that most of the supporters of gay marriage, transgenderism, and the other weird stuff are in the younger generations.

Similarly Boomers aren’t responsible for high house prices. AB Test is right to say that prices are way too high and it’s a struggle to afford a house in most Australian capital cities, but that’s a government caused problem, i.e., limiting the amount of land available for residential development and ridiculously high taxes and stamp duties on house purchases.

Boomers aren’t without their faults but they aren’t responsible for all the evils in this world.

Two chess players are locked in a match in 1973. Their battle on the board reignites the memory of their first meeting during the Great War of 1914, where a young British soldier finds himself sharing an enclosed space with an enemy German soldier.

Both have just experienced the violence and trauma of the battlefield. The situation is unexpected and intense, but gives both of them the opportunity to look past their differences and rediscover their humanity.

“Pawns” is a short historical drama, and though only 13 minutes long, packs an epic scope in its short duration with rich cinematic detail, artistic ambition and engaging storytelling.

But despite the impressive scope and production value, the film captures the intimacy of two people looking across the chasm created by war and politics — and seeing each other as full human beings.

    Omeleto:

In the midst of the Cold War in the 1960s, a cosmonaut named Alexander orbits in space, adrift around the earth in his space capsule. He has lost all navigation and communication systems, and he will soon lose his life-support systems.

Alexander soon discovers an Italian radio frequency where a Sicilian radio engineer named Alvaro is working the night shift. The two men form an intense bond as they work through the night and Alexander reckons with the journey that led to the space capsule in the first place.

But as Alexander drifts away, the newfound friendship between the men may not last the night, and help Alexander find his way home.

Writer-director Andrej Landin takes a meditative, thoughtful tone in his sci-fi short about the mythic “lost cosmonauts” that were a supposed casualty of the so-called “space race” between the U.S. and the Soviet Union to be the first to send a human in space.

The story has the plot points and development of a thriller, with its elements of space travel and potential disaster. But the beautifully considered craftsmanship and pacing are steady, introspective and measured, with an emphasis on emotional resonance. The images have an elegiac power, full of natural beauty, light and texture, emphasizing just how rich life on earth can be.

Alexander’s memories of his training — and a particular love affair with a fellow trainee named Tanya — suffuse the film throughout via flashbacks, bathed in the golden hues of warmth and contentment. It can be hard for shorts to integrate flashbacks into the storytelling, but these memories form the sociopolitical context of the story, as well as the emotional core of the film — and give viewers a palpable sense of loss once we realize just what Alexander is losing as he floats in space.

Through the understated dialogue and the equally subtle, resonant performances that bring it to life, Alexander’s bond with Alvaro forms his final, last attachment — one that helps him come to terms with his fate, appreciate the richness of the life he has to leave behind and find meaning in the sacrifice that he made before he left earth.

“Into the Silent Sea” falls into a rich tradition of sci-fi films that use the vacuum of space and the unthinkable breadth of the cosmos as rich metaphors for the human condition, in all its ultimate helplessness and solitude. It takes its time to tell its story and develop its characters, but the result is a moving, emotionally immersive cinematic experience that tells an unusually full and complete story, with an ending that is bittersweet in its wisdom. As Alexander says, “We live as we dream… alone.” But we do carry the richness of memories and love within us, providing some comfort in our final journeys.

Inside Bakhmut, the Ukes blew up the bridges over the river which divides the city without first evacuating their troops stuck on the eastern side, there’s no way those people can retreat now.

This morning there was news that the Ukes had blown up the bridge on the last road out of Bakhmut heading west so the thousands of conscripts left in the area are also stuck there now. The retreat has been a shambles comparable to the US Army fleeing from Afghanistan.

I agree with Col. Macgregor, the Russians should just head straight to Kiev and force a surrender now rather than drag it out with their slow progress which could take many months.

The Ruskies should at least consider slaughtering the Poles that are their fighting.

Use the 90/10 Rule to Decide Where to Live

Whether you’re moving across town or across the country, there are a lot of factors to consider in deciding where to live.
To figure out which factors to prioritize, it can be helpful to use what we call the “90/10 Rule.”

A family has been left heartbroken after a ‘beautiful’ young woman collapsed and died suddenly in her father’s arms despite his best efforts to try and save her life.

Libbey Peverall, who was just 20-years-old, was not known to have any underlying health conditions when she suddenly passed away in traumatic scenes at her family home in West Drayton, Greater London last Monday.

Libbey, who had aspirations of becoming a beautician, was described as loved by all who knew her – and her shocking death on February 20 has devastated her parents and brother…

For the finale of his five-night residency, which was the first of its kind to take place at the Royal Albert Hall, Simon Green aka Bonobo invited the Hall’s Associate Artist and acclaimed organist Anna Lapwood to join him in the show’s finale ‘Otomo’ (co-produced by O’Flynn).

In an act of near complete spontaneity and coincidence, the two met whilst Anna rehearsed in the building late at night after Simon’s fourth event at the venue. Fast forward 18 hours and the two were performing live together in a truly spine-tingling collaboration.

No, it won’t. Because psychology doesn’t work. Especially psychology by ageing hippies.
