What is the fixed-rate mortgage cliff, and when is it?

Fast-forward to 2023, and 880,000 fixed loans written at rock-bottom interest rates are set to switch to much higher variable rates.

According to the RBA, about $350 billion – or half of all fixed rate credit – mortgages will expire this year. This is what is sometimes referred to as the “mortgage cliff”.

The remaining 38 per cent of fixed rate credit, which includes about 450,000 loan facilities, will expire in 2024 and beyond.

The pain will be felt most acutely between now and September, when one-third of fixed-term credit will expire, and affected households will be forced to absorb the 350 basis point increase in the cash rate over the past year.

London | Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has denied he was planning a mutiny or coup against Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying he was merely protesting against Russia’s conduct of the war in Ukraine and its deadly impact on his mercenary forces.

“We were marching to demonstrate our protest, not to unseat the government,” Mr Prigozhin said in an 11-minute audio post to his Telegram social media account.

His further backdown from his weekend seizure of a Russian military command in Rostov, and a subsequent march that took his Wagner forces to within 200 kilometres of Moscow, came as Russian news agencies said Mr Prigozhin could yet face criminal charges.

    Old bloke,

I went through some of the links, on the list, in your comment from the Richard Coombes book. The Biblical references listed come from three books: Jeremiah, Isaiah and Revelation, and there are repetitions to some verses.

The Babylon in these books could be a new future place, or a current city/country, only it has a different name. It is described as a meeting place of world leaders, many rivers, immigrants, military power, art, cosmopolitan, use of drugs, occult, sensual lifestyle and so on. There are many cities/countries that would fit into that description.

I came across this book, last week. Had a quick speed read through some parts and a detailed reading of the relevant sections.

An article in today’s paper mentioned that Labor and the Yes side is worried about the poll results. They plan to get aggressive in their campaign, and it will include door-knocking.

I think if someone knocks on our door, instead of shutting it or saying we are voting No, it may be better to be non-committal and engage them in conversation. Ask them questions about the Voice – the what, who, how, where, costs and so on – questions which would reveal the real negatives about the Voice. No need to be rude or angry, just polite questions and see if they can answer them. Debate the issue. Maybe some of the volunteers will realise the pitfalls of this referendum.

If any of you have questions that would be good to ask these Yes campaign volunteers, could you share them here? It would help the rest of us. Just add a label like “Voice question” and add your question/s. We can then put all the questions together and be ready when the door gets that knock.

We need to start with the basics…

    *Just who is indigenous?

    *Is Bruce Pascoe indigenous?

(Claims descent from 3 mobs, each of whose Elders deny his claim; Has no indigenous people in his documented family tree, yet claims to be indigenous).

*What standards will be applied to acknowledge indigenousness?

It used to be a threefold test: the ‘three-part’ definition of Aboriginal identity “An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a person *of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
*who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and
*is accepted as such by the community in which he (she) lives.”

Since 2016, Tasmania has dropped the requirement that there is documentary evidence of Aboriginal descent, so you just need an Indigenous mate to accept you, & you’re on the gravy train. Given that taxpayers’ dollars will follow this determination, it needs a bit more rigour than the Tasmanian model- which many Palawa are protesting, as they find they’re being outvoted by blow-ins under the new rules.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signaled he deterred his Russian counterpart and long-time ally Vladimir Putin from eliminating failed insurrectionist and Russian paramilitary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin after his attempted coup over the weekend.

“I also realized that a tough decision was taken (Putin hinted at it in his address) — to eliminate those involved. I suggested that Putin should not rush to do it. I suggested that I talk to Prigozhin, his commanders,” Lukashenko said on Tuesday, in unexpectedly frank and exhaustive comments reported by Belarusian state agency Belta.

… Lukashenko described a “completely euphoric” Prigozhin throughout their negotiations, who “talked using only swear words for about 30 minutes” and made forthright demands to speak with Putin and be handed over Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and army commander Valery Gerasimov — the frequent subjects of his discontent.

“No one will give you Shoigu or Gerasimov, especially in this situation,” Lukashenko claims to have told Prigozhin. “You know Putin as much as I do. Secondly, he will not meet with you, he will not even talk on the phone with you in this situation.”

… The Belarusian leader noted the Wagner brass were “extremely dissatisfied” and were exercising pressure that stoked Prigozhin’s rebellion.

“As far as I could understand it, they strongly influenced Prigozhin himself. I had figured it out beforehand. Yes, he acts like a hero, you know, but he was under pressure and influence of those who were in command of assault units and had seen those deaths,” Lukashenko said, alleging he nevertheless warned Prigozhin he would be “brushed like a bug on your way.”

Sweden Dumps Climate Agenda, Scraps Green Energy Targets

Sweden has just dealt a severe blow to the globalist climate agenda by scraping its green energy targets.

In a statement announcing the new policy in the Swedish Parliament, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson warned that the Scandinavian nation needs “a stable energy system.”

Svantesson asserted that wind and solar power are too “unstable” to meet the nation’s energy requirements.

They may be on the prowl in shopping centres too. Usually, I don’t have time and just ignore the activists, but this is one situation in which I plan to stop and ask a few questions.

The Wagner mutiny has made Putin stronger

All our media want to believe that the Russian president has been weakened. So that’s how they report recent events in Russia. But I’m not so sure that the Wagner fiasco has weakened Putin. In fact, it might have made him stronger. Here are some of the reasons I suspect he will be celebrating:

My question would be that as our indigenous brothers and sisters have the same voting rights as I do, why should some people have extra privileges in shaping and influencing legislation than I do?

Howard was responsible for setting the party on the path to broad churchism. He did it so that he could hang on to power for as long as possible.

The broad church in the UK.

Andrew Brigden put the “Child Protection Bill” which seeks to prevent children from being socially transitioned without their parents knowledge in school, before parliament.

It wasn’t just Labour that voted No, some “Conservatives” joined them to defeat the bill by voting No and thus supporting the grooming and mutilation of children.

Even with a Tory majority, the Conservatives lose.

    ….

The voting illusion at election time.

Senator Hanson on Wednesday was asked about the 4BC report of a possible Brisbane name change, describing the idea as “insane” and “ridiculous”.

“How insane is this, to actually want to change the name of Brisbane, that’s been called Brisbane for what, 150 years plus,” she told Sky News.

“And generations have grown up under Brisbane. All our birth certificates, marriage certificates, where were we born? Brisbane, Australia. All our tourism — people overseas know it as Brisbane. And we’re going to change it to a name that — I can’t even remember what you said, within matter of a few seconds — I can’t remember. And I have no intentions of actually wanting to remember. So the fact is, to me it will be Brisbane.”

Brisbane, founded in 1824 as the Moreton Bay penal settlement, is named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, the sixth Governor of NSW from 1821 to 1825.

Parts of the area on which the city is built are referred to as Meanjin by the Turrbal people.

Sky News host Stoker said there was “very little to be achieved” by renaming things their Indigenous equivalents.

“We should all respect and treat as our equals the people in this country who have Indigenous roots,” Ms Stoker said.

“But that doesn’t mean we need to rewrite history. It doesn’t mean we need to change the name of everything. And it doesn’t mean we need to carry a black armband about everything in our past.”

‘…referred to as Meanjin by the Turrbal people.’ lol
