I have just been informed by my energy retailer that price will go up from 1 July 2023. Currently, I am paying 23.269 c/kWh. On 1 July, it will be 31.739 c/kWh. That is a 36% increase.

Go and get a second job. I did. And just as I thought I am now ahead, 36% comes along.

The ‘science of story’, like many lies, has a tiny basis in truth.

Things like myths and legends, fairy tales and so on which have been passed down through many generations often contain truths about human behaviour, historical events and so on. But they are invariably mixed up with changed dates and characters, additions and deletions, etc.

They have nothing to do with science, more like anthropology.

One of the so-called proofs was the Dogon tribe of the Republic of Mali mythology that Sirius has a dark companion each 50 years. And so it does! So there!
However as Sagan points out this was known around the 1930s and explorers were venturing into Mali to research tribal customs and knowledge. Stories shared around the campfire easily become part of the tribal knowledge passed down. The ZNPP has been under attack for many months by the Ukrainians and has experience artillery shelling and commando raids across the lake which no longer exists since the Ukrainians blew up the dam. The Russians demanded in the UN that the International Atomic Energy Agency send inspectors to report on the damage inflicted by the Ukrainians, the IAEA inspectors arrived and saw the damage but they said it was caused by some unknown party.

The UN is well past its use-by date, it’s now, at best, a useless assembly, just look at the IAEA, the WHO, and some other agencies.

I don’t think that Finland will take down the EU, but the new government in Helsinki is making life difficult for Brussels.

It may be that Finland wants to impress its new masters – NATO. So much for a new right-wing government. Still has the WEF-stench.

Vladimir Putin says an “armed mutiny” led by the chief of the Wagner paramilitary group is a “stab in the back” for Russia, accusing those involved of treason and warning that anyone who takes up arms against the Russian military will be punished.

In an emergency televised address on Saturday, Putin said he would do everything he can to protect Russia and that “decisive action” would be taken to stabilise the situation in Rostov-on-Don, a southern city where Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin said his forces had taken control of all military installations…

The insurrection by Wagner chief Evgeny Prigozhin is a “hideous betrayal” and should be quelled in order to protect Russian unity amid the conflict in Ukraine, the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has said.

In a post on Telegram on Saturday, the Chechen leader offered a scathing rebuke of the head of the private military company, denouncing his actions as “a knife in the back” and “a real military mutiny.”

Kadyrov stated that an armed conflict is not the time for personal grudges, saying “the rear should always be safe and secure.” “Just imagine what the guys in the trenches feel now, with their face to the enemy and with their back to a treacherous gamble.”

The Chechen leader added that Wagner’s actions could only result in “bloody consequences.”

After doing a manual update to Windows, it looks as though that turned auto-updating back on again. A subsequent unexpected auto-updatehas left my PC is frozen again at the boot-up stage, and winding back the update(s) or going back to a restore point have not fixed things. Looks like another re-install is in the offing. Hopefully normal activity will resume shortly.

Looks like Putin has wrapped this one up quickly

The criminal case, launched this weekend, against Wagner Private Military Company founder Evgeniy Prigozhin will be dropped and he will leave Russia, the Kremlin announced on Saturday evening.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that Prigozhin, a Saint Petersburg Tycoon who made his initial fortune in catering, “will go to Belarus.”

He added that Wagner’s fighters will not be persecuted, taking into account their efforts on the frontlines of the Ukraine conflict. Peskov explained that President Vladimir Putin’s team “have always respected their exploits.”

Those PMC contractors, who refused to take part in the mutiny – and whole units did not – will be allowed to sign contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry, Peskov stated.

The PMC group launched a major mutiny overnight, seizing control of the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District in the city of Rostov-on-Don, as well as advancing towards Moscow. The insurrection was stopped late on Saturday, following talks between Prigozhin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, with the PMC leader agreeing to return his units to their “field camps.”

    Wagner boss is leaving Russia
    By Christopher Harris
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, could be seen leaving the district military headquarters in the city of Rostov-on-Don in an SUV in a video posted on Telegram on Saturday by the Russian state news agency RIA.

Prigozhin had earlier agreed to end a rebellion against Moscow’s military leadership after mediation from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, and the Kremlin said he would be moving to Belarus under the deal they had agreed.
