Rome doesn’t figure in the story in any way, that’s just some Catholic bashing going on.

Old bloke, my comment does not relate to the negativity around the Pope and Vatican by non-Catholics. It is based on the interpretation, within the Church, by devout Catholics.

Here’s some Biblical references to the “mystery” nation called Babylon from the Prophets, this future nation (at the time of their writing) was referred to as the Daughter of Babylon,in the New Testament it’s referred to as mystery Babylon, or Mega Babylon (Babylon the Great).

As you can see, there’s no way that Rome is being referred to.

I’ll check out the link and references in your comment and respond later to that and share what I have read in the past about the Antichrist, from other sources.

Interesting situation the Government authorities have got themselves into. In many countries they have created new well funded sub-bureaucracies called Anti-terrorism, then the Ruskies, Shia, Kurds and Syria wipe out the ISIS Caliphate. The Yanks have now decided that school mums are terrorists. At the same time the authorities can’t tell us if anything is a terrorist attack. After all the Jihadis are proud of what they do. The cops know straight away. The Anti-terrorism units need something to justify their budgets.

Why is it that Hillary Clinton, the Bidens and any other Presidents have also not been indicted in similar circumstances? If a crime was committed then the same rule should apply to all.

But is all this really a surprise? It is obvious that there is something going wrong in the US. The swamp has been there for a long, long time and needs to be drained.

I am waiting for legally qualified Americans, who are objectively watching the drama, to evaluate what has happened. To explain the situation clearly, so that those in the GOP who want what is best for their country can make the decisions that need to be made.

Tucker was saying that the deep state opposed Trump primarily because he was against the perpetual war machine (from a comment he made in 2015).

That was one reason, I think the main reason was because Trump saw no benefit in maintaining America’s hegemon, all those foreign military bases are too expensive to maintain. Trump’s world view was for a multipolar world together with a semi-isolationist foreign policy, make America great again by concentrating on America’s internal needs rather than trying to maintain a hegemon by sabre rattling.

My thoughts are that the deep state has nothing on him. Epstein was the mere indicator of the massive control of people through threat of exposure, extortion and blackmail. All the techniques they are using on Trump show their MO. Being independently wealthy, smart, able to negotiate and with enormous loyalty means he is untouchable to the intelligence agencies. They can’t control him.
If he gets back in, he now knows how politics works and will expose this system of extortion. But I doubt he will make it.

From behind the pay-wall – resistance to planned obsolescence

Retailers may still be reeling from the challenges of online stores, but they now face another disrupter in the shape of sustainable shopping and the circular economy.

It’s a challenge that is forcing some big outlets, including David Jones in Australia, Britain’s Selfridges chain and big brands such as Rolex, to do what might once have seemed unthinkable: get into the business of reselling their used products online. In Britain it’s a website called Worn Again; here it’s RELOOP on the DJs website.

The trend is being driven by societies, especially their younger members, that hate waste and increasingly look for ways to recycle goods from T-shirts to television sets.

They’re not wrong to call it out. A recent Deloitte Access Economics report calculated that about $2.5bn worth of unused merchandise is wasted, some of it going to land fill, every year in this country. That’s merchandise – clothes, toys, whitegoods, electronics, books, furniture, bedding – that retailers simply cannot sell, even if heavily discounted.

All that waste has also generated a partnership between retailers and a not-for-profit called Good360, set up in Australia in 2015 by Alison Covington. Having read about a similar group in the US, she wondered “If not me, who?”.

Her charity, which now has 30 employees, connects retailers to charities who distribute goods direct to people in need.

It has partnerships with 450 businesses and 3500 charities and disadvantaged schools and distributes about $100m worth of goods each year.

Now Good360 has partnered with the Australian Retailers Association to launch a program, Inner Circle, in which retailers, including Big W, Linen House and the Winning Group, commit to working with the charity.

Australian Retailers Association head Paul Zahra, the former CEO of David Jones, says the circular economy is a mindset shift for retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers.

“What we’ve got now is consumers saying this is just not good enough,” he says.

He applauds Covington for showing that “pre-consumer excess inventory” can fill a need. He says part of the problem is that premium and luxury brands don’t want to discount their product because it affects the way the product is perceived.

There’s also a problem when retailers order too much and can’t move product, even if discounted.

And while AI will in future probably refine inventory management, for now it remains an inexact science and subject to consumer whim.

The good news is that retailers and brands that resist the Good360 model are pursuing other ways to deal with excess inventory – for example, by setting up discount outlets or outlets under a different brand name to offload product.

“A lot of the newer retailers are doing much more customisation where they only produce the product when the customer has actually ordered it,” says Zahra.

“Environmental sustainability is emerging as the biggest issue and opportunity for retailers. There’s a whole model in the future of retail where retail shops are seen as showrooms and then you order online and the inventory is held centrally.

“We’re moving away from the disposable economy to the circular economy. We’re seeing brands selling products in the second-hand market because they think they should own this market.”

Covington is now looking for government funding – $5m a year for five years – to scale up her charity, which now can only manage to distribute about 5 per cent of the waste merchandise. About 30 per cent is clothing. “We’ve been asking government to fund what we do, just like they fund food waste (distribution),” she says. “We haven’t received any significant funding. We serve 3500 charities, helping them through drought, flood, fire.

“The demand has been growing: we did $5m in February, $12m in April, and in May, we’ve just done $17m worth of goods. The demand just keeps rising every month, but we could do more if we received government funding. That’s the only thing holding us back.”

Good360 operates nationally via websites, with a warehouse in western Sydney.

Covington says the waste is across all product lines: “Think about seasonal clothing, homewares, think about the way that towels and cushions all have different seasonal colours now.”

Selfridges runs the Reselfridge concept: a “resale, rental, repair, refill and recycle ecosystem” which circulates used goods and is designed to “keep products in circulation for longer”. Part of that concept are pop-up stores called Worn Again for luxury second-hand shopping. A recent report suggested Selfridges wants 45 per cent of their transactions to come from circular products and services by 2030.

Rolex is also “owning” the second-hand market in watches, which is booming. It certifies pre-owned Rolexes which are then sold by certified retailers, ensuring the all-important authenticity of the brand.

Zahra notes another trend – renting goods, such as clothes. Outlets include GlamCorner, an “on-demand and subscription clothing hire” operation where you can rent a designer dress overnight.

GlamCorner has been in a partnership with David Jones since 2020, with a hub on its online platform and its Sydney store on Elizabeth St. Last year, the retailer and GlamCorner set up RELOOP which allows customers to “recommerce their items through resale, rent, recycle or repair”.

All these Parliament shenanigans about the unsafe environment for female politicians.

Case Study: Dealing with toxic males in the workplace.

Heard this story from a caller on talkback radio.

The lady sounded like someone in her late sixties or seventies. She was narrating an incident that took place when she was quite young – probably 40+ years ago. She worked in the secretarial pool of a very big company. All the secretaries sat and worked in one room and would be called by managers for dictation and secretarial work. There was one manager, Kevin, who was the groper, and the secretaries hated working for him. They would talk about their experiences.

One day, our radio caller was asked to go to his office to do some work. She went in and took the dictation. Then groping Kevin asked her to get some files. So she opened the filing cabinet and while she was looking for the files, he came up behind her and put his hands on her breasts.

Caller: I was young and quite agile so I lifted my foot and hit him where it hurts most. He was clearly in pain. I walked out of his office.

She was worried what would happen now. Sometime later, the very Big Boss came into the secretarial room and walked around. He seemed to be looking at the floor. Then he walked out.

Soon after, she got a message that she was wanted in the Big Boss’ office. She was wondering what would happen.

Big Boss: What happened in Kevin’s office?
Caller: So he complained about me?
Big Boss: No. I was in the Men’s Room when he came in. He seemed to be in great pain and had white shoe polish on the front of his trousers. You are the only one wearing white shoes today.

Groper Kevin was kicked out of the company.
No workplace laws, no dramas, no feminixt whingeing about toxic males.

The caller explained that she was young at that time, but she would often overhear her older sister and friends talking about how to deal with certain males and hitting them where it hurts the most.

There are real situations and environments where women are being sexually abused, attacked and molested. And it would be hard for them to fight back or defend themselves.

But the Parliament of Australia being an unsafe work environment? Those fragile women don’t wear shoes with heels? Maybe our talkback lady caller could give them a few lessons in self-defence.

If women politicians in this country are not prepared to go to the police to report sexual abuse, what kind of leadership and example are they providing to ordinary women in the same situations?

    Old bloke,

I tried to download from your link the America the Babylon by Richard Coombes zip file. It is a very large file and I was having problems trying to download it. It was taking so long that I gave up.

I will look through the points you have listed and the references. Will take some time to go through that. On my To Do task list.

If women politicians in this country are not prepared to go to the police to report sexual abuse, what kind of leadership and example are they providing to ordinary women in the same situations?

They’re troughers, like they their male counterparts, in it for the money until the signal a bit of publicity won’t cost ’em anything ..

But the Parliament of Australia being an unsafe work environment? Those fragile women don’t wear shoes with heels? Maybe our talkback lady caller could give them a few lessons in self-defence.

Yes, I agree these cossetted females are a disgrace to the species.
Turn around and slap a face or say loudly “Keep your hands to yourself”. These are not downtrodden check out chicks trying to keep body and soul together.

I recall when I was in Japan, Japanese males took advantage of the crush to press up against females. Japanese females responded by announcing “Oh, there seems to be a “Japanese equivalent of masher” in here and looking into the faces of the offenders.

Their ABC tells us there are 2500 people in hospital with Convid. It’s a pandemic I tells ya. People falling over dead everywhere I go so it must be true.
Dorinda Cox given lengthy interview and we’re all racists if we vote No. Happy to oblige.

The NIAA has a budget of $4.5bill and a workforce of 1300. My calculator says that’s $3.5mill per employee. Money well spent, I say.

I’m sure Australians will find many reasons to vote NO.
All the dictatorial shit like changing the names of world-famous places like Fraser Island will be a catalyst to tell the overlords to get stuffed.
Not allowed to walk up Mt Warning. Just say NO.
sTan Grant – just say NO.
