Galloway on course to win Rochdale by-election ‘comfortably’, party claims

George Galloway’s party believes it has won the Rochdale by-election, one of the most divisive contests of recent years.

Representatives of Mr Galloway’s Workers Party of Britain said they expected to win the election “comfortably” as votes continued to be counted in the Greater Manchester constituency.

James Giles, Mr Galloway’s campaign manager, told the PA news agency: “It is going better than our wildest hopes. George will win here by a fair margin.”

Mr Giles said Labour’s one-time candidate Azhar Ali, who the party disowned after an antisemitism row, had also failed badly.

He added: “Mr Ali’s family were here earlier to scrutinise the votes – and they left within the hour.”

Independent candidate William Howarth said votes were piling up for Mr Galloway and another independent candidate, local businessman David Tully.

Chris Williamson, a former Labour MP and deputy leader of Mr Galloway’s party, said the result would “send shockwaves through the Palace of Westminster”.

He told Sky News: “It will also, I think, give hope to tens of thousands, if not millions of people in the country who are looking for a genuine alternative, because our democracy has been stolen from us.

“The Labour Party and the Conservative Party are effectively often the same thing.”

He added that a victory for Mr Galloway represented “a total rejection of mainstream party politics”.

Early on Friday, officials announced a turnout of 39.7%, slightly higher than recent by-elections in Wellingborough and Kingswood …

    Scott Morrison, last month.

    1/
    Rally in Sydney

Scott Morrison accused the UN of antisemitism at a rally in Sydney. He apologised to Jewish members in the crowd for their persecution in Australia.

“We are deeply sorry,” Morrison said. “Sadly instead of finding consolation, on too many occasions you found isolation, and even abandonment, and even persecution, in this, a free country. Instead of safety you were confronted with threats and even hatred.”

    2/
    Valedictory speech

A few days ago, he signed off from Federal Parliament. In his valedictory speech, he talked about the values of his Christian faith.

“It is about respecting each other’s human dignity through our creation by God’s hand, in God’s image, for God’s glory,” Morrison said.

“This is the basis for our modern understanding of human rights.”

He went on to speak about his Christian faith and Judeo-Christian values. As someone who also supports and advocates Judeo-Christian values, I am now not sure what they are. Maybe we are referring to different sets of values?

Mr Morrison, what exactly are these values you have mentioned?
And the respect for “human dignity” and “human rights”?

Palestinian Christians living in the Holy Land are persecuted by their occupiers. They have been ill-treated and killed. Some of these Palestinians are descendants of the first Christians.

Can you explain these Judeo-Christian values that were the focus of your speech?

You are concerned about the persecution of Jews in Australia and you are right. But during your visit to Israel, following the October 7 attacks, did you meet the Palestinian Christians who have direct connections to this Judeo-Christian heritage? Did you have any words of consolation and comfort for them and the persecution they suffer in their homeland?

Hamas have been in power since 2006. But how and when did Hamas come into being?

    1/
Israel’s historical role in the rise of Hamas

The international focus on the war in Gaza has helped obscure the fact that Israel in the 1980s aided the rise of the Islamist Hamas as a rival to the secular Palestinian Liberation Organization and its dominant faction, Yasser Arafat’s Fatah.

    2/
The conflict in Gaza is all the fault of Hamas?

Hamas Has Destroyed Israel (But Not How You Think)

Israel is going down a dangerous road in Gaza. Their stated goal is to eliminate Hamas but in reality there is no way they can achieve this goal. Hamas does not pose a long term threat to Israel, it never has and it never will. October 7th was the result of a failure in Israeli defense, not an advancement of Hamas military capability. The reality is Israel wants to take over the entire Gaza region and these horrific actions against the people in Gaza are the biggest threat to the long term security of Israel.

Israeli soldiers then proceeded to indiscriminately open fire on hungry Palestinians, killing dozens and wounding hundreds.

At this point, it appears the three front-runner Presidential candidates for the 2024 US general election in November are the following Democrats:

1/ Joe Biden, Democrat, and running as part of the Democratic party
2/ Donald Trump, Democrat, but running under the Republican banner
3/ Robert F Kennedy, Democrat, but running as an Independent.

Here is one Democrat attacking his Conservative Republican opponent.
He claims he is going to get everything done in 3 months, 6 months, a year.

    Some of the comments:

    – I remember when he said this in 2016.

    Guess what. Nothin got done.

    – He couldn’t get it done in FOUR years

    – Again, WHY DIDN’T HE GET IT DONE IN FOUR YEARS?!? He said it should ONLY take a year, but he got NOTHING done in four. WHY?!? And why does the MAGA cult allow him to get away with it?!?

    – All talk no action. Can’t govern. Will sign anything the Democrats put in front of him if they say something nice about him.

    – He had the WH, a Senate majority, and a House majority for 2 full years.
Did none of the stuff he says he can fix in 3 months.

    – Same crap

    – Well he didn’t get it done in four years, so…

    – Do these people forget that he was president for four years?

    – What a jealous man. I wonder why he harbors such resentment? Must be all the accomplishments Gov. DeSantis had in this past week alone. He should feel grossly inadequate.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bipartisan bill into law authorizing the release of grand jury transcripts from an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

The new legislation, signed by the Florida governor on Thursday, will allow a public release of the jury’s transcripts from the 2006 probe into Epstein’s abuse of underage girls. The new measure goes into effect July 1….

“The public deserves to know who participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking,” DeSantis said in the news release Thursday. “Nobody should be protected from facing justice due to their wealth or status, and those who harm children should be exposed and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

    2/
DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

To comply with the Florida Board of Governor’s regulation 9.016 on prohibited expenditures, the University of Florida has closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, eliminated DEI positions and administrative appointments and halted DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors.

Conservatives will whinge about what is going wrong and how it should be set right. They get a candidate who has proven in the past that he does what he says he will do. If he says he’ll need 8 years as President, it means he is going to do a thorough clean up in that time. He isn’t about charming talk at a podium, he is about action.

But given a choice between empty promises or real action, guess what the Maga-GOP prefers?

Barnaby Joyce was part of a uniparty delegation that went to Washington DC, months later, in a bid to prevent Assange’s extradition to the US.

Yet, during last month’s Parliament motion to free Assange, the libs voted NO.
What is the explanation for that?

The motion said this: “Mr Assange remains incarcerated in HMP Belmarsh in the UK, awaiting a decision on whether he can be extradited to the USA to face charges for material published in 2010, which revealed shocking evidence of misconduct by the USA.” That reflection on the US was a huge stumbling block.

The Libs thought it was an unbalanced criticism of the US. So they could not vote in favour. Take a look at the priorities of the party that is supposed to be supporters of free speech and freedom of media. They thought it was more important to keep the US happy than do what is right by Australian citizens. If it was the other way around, and an American citizen was being held in the Aussie prison, would the US stand by this?

Even more strange, the current Oz government is lefty Labor. The current US government is lefty Dem. Yet, Labor and the Greens voted Yes.

As for Barnaby, he has lost his credibility with all his personal dramas played out in public. He has no negotiating power with the LNP.

Some tried to get Barnaby Joyce to vote in favour of the motion, but the former Nationals leader was in a difficult position. He argued the case for Assange as part of a group of MPs who travelled to Washington DC last September, but voting for the motion on Wednesday would mean crossing the floor and, in all likelihood, giving up his shadow cabinet position. He left the chamber before the final vote. Other Coalition MPs were also absent.

Instead of the vote of 86 Ayes – 42 Noes, the vote could have been 128 Ayes – 0 Noes.
Or even higher if the Coalition members who walked out or were absent has come in and voted YES.

Is the LNP really a party we can count on to support Freedom, Free Speech, Free Media?

Will they overturn any Disinformation Laws that may get passed by Labor or will they simply vote Aye in this case and help the passage of the bill?

Americans in 16 states (and one US territory) cast their presidential nominating votes this Super Tuesday, when the only real source of suspense was whether former president Donald Trump would sweep all 15 Republican contests from his last remaining rival, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Haley dashed that hope, narrowly winning Vermont, though that was her only success on a night when Trump racked up more wins by double-digits.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie has invited Gabriel Shipton, the brother of imprisoned Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, as his guest for this week’s State of the Union address.

The Kentucky Republican decided to bring Shipton as part of his message that the U.S. should drop Assange’s criminal charges and stop seeking his extradition.

“The U.S. government’s ongoing effort to prosecute Julian Assange threatens the First Amendment rights of Americans and should be opposed,” Massie said in a statement to The Courier Journal.

“During his term in office, I asked President Trump to pardon Mr. Assange, and I was disappointed by his failure to do so. President Biden should stop seeking Assange’s extradition and should instead drop the criminal charges currently being pursued by the Department of Justice.”

Biden’s State of the Union Address will be delivered to a joint session of Congress on Thursday evening at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

Each representative and senator is allowed to bring one guest to the event.

    Gabriel says:

🚨🇺🇸 Last month, Joe Rogan had “prison reform activist” Sheldon Johnson on to discuss the unfairness of the US justice system.

Johnson was just out after serving a 25 year jail sentence.

He explained how unfair it was that he was sent to prison for as long as he was, and Joe Rogan agreed that Johnson’s story reflects a huge problem of racism in the justice system.

Today, Johnson was arrested after police found a severed head and limbless torso in his apartment. The victim’s neighbours reported hearing “Please don’t. I have a family!” before hearing two gunshots.

The police found the victims decapitated head in Johnson’s freezer and the limbless torso in a blue bin in his apartment.

Maybe the problem here isn’t systemic racism.

This is a late response to “Everyone mut do the same thing to stay safe” and Kaysee’s first question “Were the covid vaxes safe and effective”

    FWIW

“Of course you remember the phrase “safe and effective.” How could you forget? That phrase fueled every single vaccine mandate. Well … it was always a lie, even before they found out the shots didn’t work, right from the start, and the Grand Jury Report explained exactly how they did it.
This is critically-important: the federal agencies like the CDC and the FDA played a rhetorical shell game on America. And the corporate media helped them hide the definitional pea. First of all, when government officials called the vaccines “safe,” they were using a legal term of art.

In other words, when they said safe, they deceptively relied on a highly-subjective legal definition that doesn’t actually mean “safe” — but never said so.

Here’s how the Grand Jury Report explained it:

    image.png (in link)

In other words, the vaccines were never considered “safe” in general. When Fauci said the jabs were safe, he meant they were “safe” compared to the relative risk posed by the virus (“relative freedom from harmful effect” and “the condition of the recipient”). All the CDC and FDA had to do was decide the virus was more deadly than the bubonic plague — which they did — and then virtually anything could be considered safe, no matter how risky it really was.”

“Even worse than helping the agencies mislead people with a legalistic definition of an everyday dictionary word, the media never even asked the agencies to explain the risk/reward matrix. So they got away with using a totally-subjective standard that wasn’t tied to anything — certainly not to anything scientific.”

The term “effective” is nearly as bad. When the government said the vaccines were “effective,” they used a weasel definition for that word too. Legally speaking, the term “effectiveness” can be based on a regulatory determination arising from clinical trials, as you would expect, or from “other data.”

    ‘Other data’ is undefined.

“There weren’t any clinical trials proving effictiveness — Pfizer never even tested for that. The regulators relied on “other data” to conclude the shots were effective. The media never asked the agencies to explain what their “other data” was that caused them to determine the vaccines were so “effective.” From the report, citing federal statute:”

    image.png (in link)

“It was all wordplay, right from day one. They tricked us by secretly using a different definition for common dictionary words, a stealthy different definition than what we thought they meant. They will blame us for not knowing the legal meanings of those words and stupidly assuming they were using lay definitions. But they are experts, you see, so how can you expect them to speak plainly?”
