It is one week since the Hamas attack in Gaza. Across the media, a great deal of discussion. People are reacting by splitting up into factions/groups and choosing a certain position.

Much of it is a response to what is being fed from whatever source they are following. We are all at the receiving end and not immune to the info flowing out. But instant reactions are can be emotional and not rational.

Why and how have we reached this stage?
    Where are we headed?

We learn when we ask questions and listen to other opinions even if at first they may seem to be some conspiracy theory or not in line with what we believe. We can dismiss it later if it is completely baseless.

….. Soviet defector and KGB operative Yuri Bezmenov, specializing in the fields of Marxist-Leninist propaganda and ideological subversion; warned us about the silent war being waged against America as part of a long term plan to take over and destroy the American system and way of life.

    In the video, Yuri explains:
“Ideological Subversion” is broken up into 4 phases:

    1/ Demoralization
    2/ Destabilization
    3/ Crisis
    4/ Normalization

I decided not to use that option because I know I will forget about the updates.

Win7 used to have the pop-up window to let you know that there are updates ready for download. If you were in the middle of something on your computer and did not want the interruption, you could delay it by a few hours. Then when you are ready, you set them to begin and go off to do other tasks.

Hamas leaders rumoured to be sitting safely in hotels in Doha and have told residents not to leave.

They tell the civilians to stay because it is their home and they should stay there. Real reason is to use these residents as human shields in the hope that Israel will not attack if there are civilians.

Questions have been asked about why hospitals and schools are being targetted by the IDF. It’s because Hamas is known to use these locations to store weapons.

    Egypt Can Save Gaza’s Civilians

But Cairo won’t let Palestinians enter from its Rafah crossing.

Israel’s defensive operation in Gaza will be difficult and bloody, as the military tries to weed Hamas terrorists out of a densely populated urban environment. Lest American or European politicians or commentators suffer any confusion about who is ultimately responsible for what comes next, here are a few facts:

Israel’s military on Friday warned roughly 1.1 million civilians to evacuate the northern part of the Gaza strip. The hope is to minimize civilian casualties as much as possible. This is the opposite of Hamas’s strategy in its invasion last weekend, when terrorists staged a surprise assault with an explicit goal of killing or abducting as many Israeli civilians as possible, including women and children.

If Hamas cared about Palestinian civilians, it would encourage them to leave Gaza. But instead it is demanding that they remain. The terror group intends to use its own people and the hostages it abducted from Israel as human shields. Their hope is that either Israeli concern about causing collateral damage or global opprobrium will force Israel to scale back its counter-invasion.

Egypt is the only place to which Gaza’s civilians can flee for now. Yet Cairo insists on maintaining its strict quota for entries from Gaza via the Rafah crossing—with only 800 able to leave on Monday, and the crossing reportedly closed in recent days.

It is strange that the West has accepted refugees who are Muslims when there are so many Christians in refugee camps who should be taken in here. It would be a seamless integration and assimilation.

If the Middle East and the Muslim world are quick to protest and shed tears for their own people, why don’t they take them in. In fact, they can take all the Muslims from the Western nations too, and we could live in peace.

As the post-mortems continue, perhaps some self analysis would be appropriate – this is from Nick Cater behind the paywallian

Albanese should recognise the result as a call for the end to the policy of separatism that began under Gough Whitlam and has yet to be challenged. The self-determination policy, as it was called, was intended to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by granting them control of settlements where they might practice their traditional customs.

The descent of these Rousseauean-inspired idylls into welfare sinkholes riddled with social dysfunction was immediate and is now all but irreversible. The most tragic mistake was the assumption that Aboriginal people held abnormally strong communal values that rose above the wishes of any individual. The free market barely operates across much of central and northern Australia.

Adopting capitalism may have brought a couple of billion people out of poverty in the last 30 years, but in large parts of remote Australia, it is effectively banned.

Saturday’s result provides an opportunity to liberate Aboriginal Australians from the debilitating assumption that they are victims from birth. It is a chance to break the tyranny of low expectations. Every Indigenous citizen should be able to exercise their full rights as citizens to alter the course of their lives for good or ill.

kaycee, I have W10 and an old PC, but the last update took about 15 minutes.

I get an icon on the lower right hand of my screen when an update is in the works. It asks me to nominate a time to do it. I turn it on when I am doing something else.

Frankly, I don’t understand why it takes so long, or is so unexpected.

No fan of MicroSatan, but in this case I don’t think it’s their fault.

Details of ‘abhorrent’ misinformation campaign revealed

Anthony Albanese says a dangerous spread of misinformation is impacting on the conduct of elections and referendums.

The Prime Minister said there were some examples of “totally abhorrent” misinformation during the voice referendum campaign and that Labor was undertaking appropriate processes to deal with it going forward.

Mr Albanese said it was a complex issue given laws should not interfere with freedom of expression but should also ensure elections were democratic.

Ummm, seems to be a bit short on the detail.

It was so slow that I checked with online forums and there were similar complaints.

Luton car park fire caused an estimated loss of £30 Million. There was somewhere between 1,200 to 1,500 cars lost in the fire, and the structure itself collapsed. I’d be very wary about using these multi-storey car parks in the future.

Who is responsible for losses of the Luton Airport Carpark Fire? – BlackBeltBarrister – 5 mins.

The commentator said that the fire started from a diesel Range Rover but some experts say that particular model was a diesel electric hybrid. The hybrid version has a smaller battery underneath the front passenger’s door which appears to be where the fire was coming from according to photos of the event. Nevertheless, the diesel Range Rovers, hybrids and otherwise, have a history of catching on fire so insurance companies now won’t cover them.

Multi-storey car park owners will probably be required to install fire suppression infrastructure soon, more costs to them.

    From the smh

A statement by Indigenous Voice supporters, which the Yes23 campaign circulated on their behalf on Saturday night, labelled the referendum defeat a “bitter irony”. Indigenous Voice supporters said they would take a week of silence to “grieve this outcome and reflect on its meaning and significance”.

The symbolism would be far greater if instead of 1 week, it was 65,000 weeks of silence to reflect. After that period, they can have their Voice, Welcome to country, acknowledgements and whatever else they want.

As long as we don’t have to hear anything about the voice, get welcomed to our country or have to acknowledge that the land belongs to any tribe for the next 65,000 weeks.
