    Twitter and Free Speech

Elon has often stated his position in favour of Free Speech and his reason for buying the platform. Yet, a number of conservatives have been complaining that they are being censored, shadow-banned, suspended or cancelled. The ones facing the banning are those who post anti-Big Pharma and anti-Zionist posts. Is this happening without Elon being aware of it?

To encourage posting on twitter, posters have been able to earn money for their contributions. To be eligible, you need to have the blue tick that you pay for. Until now, it worked well. But recently, users have been sent an email where they have been urged to verify their IDs

Many users have been concerned about this and questioned Elon but he has not addressed this.

Our national broadcaster caved to the Jewish lobby, and is being held to account

    The Age

Antoinette Lattouf has landed a major win in her unlawful dismissal case against the ABC after the Fair Work Commission ruled that was sacked by the national broadcaster …

… She also claimed in her Fair Work application she was told by one of her managers, ABC Sydney content director Elizabeth Green, that Jewish lobbyists were “unhappy” she was on air because she had previously publicly criticised Israel.

In January, this masthead reported the contents of a pro-Israel WhatsApp group that showed organised efforts to target the ABC with complaints about Lattouf and her views on the conflict in Gaza.

Lattouf on Monday said she was pleased the commission had dismissed the ABC’s claim but that the claim itself was a “waste of taxpayers’ money” which had caused unnecessary delays in her pursuit of truth and justice.

“I remain bitterly disappointed that I was fired for posting a fact the ABC itself was also reporting, namely a report of Human Rights Watch about starvation used as a tool of war,” she said. …

Under Gee’s proposal, any person who prevented a cash payment of less than $10,000, would be fined up to $5000; while businesses would face fines of up to $25,000.

The only exception would be if using cash posed a “security” threat for the person or business.

Data provided by The Reserve Bank of Australia showed Australians made 30,859,700 ATM cash withdrawals in February this year — up 3.6 per cent compared with February 2023.

In January 2024, there were 30.2 million ATM withdrawals, worth more than $9 billion.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Andrew Gee said Aussies wanted freedom of choice.

Vaccine mandates ‘a terrible mistake’: ex-CDC chief

In an extraordinary interview with journalist Chris Cuomo, former CDC chief Dr Robert Redfield said Covid-19 vaccines were a ‘terrible mistake’ because young, healthy people didn’t need them.

Former CDC chief Dr Robert Redfield has blasted Covid-19 vaccine mandates, lockdowns as a ‘terrible mistake’.

    By ADAM CREIGHTON
    6:12PM JUNE 7, 2024

Robert Redfield, the former head of the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, said mandating Covid-19 vaccine was a “terrible decision” and lockdowns and school closures were a “big mistake”.

Dr Redfield, an esteemed virologist who led the CDC from 2018 to 2021, said the pharmaceutical giants had a “huge influence” on convincing governments that everyone including children should be coerced into being vaccinated and boosted during the pandemic.

“We absolutely never should have mandated vaccines, it was a terrible decision … the rationale for mandating vaccines for healthy firefighters and policemen, those in the military, hospital workers, teachers, was emotional, It wasn’t and it shouldn’t have happened,” he said in an interview with Chris Cuomo published on Wednesday (Thursday AEST).

Dr Redfield, 72, said the Covid-19 vaccines, which the Biden administration worked to prevent serious illness and death for vulnerable, older patients “over 65” but weren’t suitable for health young people, didn’t prevent transmission and wore off after six months at most.

“If you came down and visited me and interviewed my patients, you’d interview patient after patient that did not have Covid, but are very sick, long covid patients, and it’s all from the vaccine,” he added, in comments that would have been censored on social media and censured publicly during the pandemic.

A ‘v-safe’ survey by the CDC released in late 2022 found 7.7 per cent of around a million American recipients sought medical attention after their Covid-19 vaccination. Western Australian data published last year found the Covid-19 vaccines, which were lauded as safe and effective, caused injuries at 24 times the rate of other approved vaccines.

“I remember Biden saying, you know, this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. … I was saying, wait a minute, two thirds of the people that I’m seeing infected in Maryland have been vaccinated, these vaccines don’t last”.

Dr Redfield, who continues to practise medicine privately in Maryland, was sidelined in 2020 for suggesting SARS-Cov2, the virus that causes Covid-19, might have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology rather than ‘spilt over’ from the animal kingdom naturally, a theory that’s since become more credible.

In a one-hour interview with Mr Cuomo, whose brother Andrew Cuomo as New York governor became the face of tough Covid-19 mandates in 2020, Dr Redfield said countries “made a big mistake and paid a big price” by locking down their societies for months, on and off for up to two years.

“You know, I’m not sure people will accept responsibility, those people that really pushed it, because it was unfortunate, it was emotional,” he said. “There’s no question there was overreach,

Following China’s example, most governments imposed lockdowns from March 2020, lasting well into 2021 in some jurisdictions, unprecedented policies that triggered massive public borrowing, record unemployment, inflation, social unrest and permanent learning loss, in the US at least, for students from low-income families.

“I was very much against closing schools, I thought the kids were probably safer in schools, most kids were getting infected in the community and from the dinner table, not from the school, a lot of that was emotionalism with teachers,” he said.

Dr Redfield’s interview emerged a few days after Dr Anthony Fauci, president Joe Biden’s former top Covid-19 adviser, admitted in widely reported congressional testimony that the ‘lab leak theory’ was no longer a conspiracy theory and pandemic measures should “consider the balance” of costs and benefits next time.

Rep. Thomas Massie doesn’t care what you think of him, which is pretty great.

Since setting up his channel on twitter, Tucker has managed only two real good interviews. One with Munther Isaac, and this one with Thomas Massie – 130 minutes of an interview worth watching.

Here is a politician, who is one of a kind: Christian, Conservative, intelligent, good sense of humour, hardworking, family man, self-confident (not needing to be liked by others), has the guts to stand up and fight for what he believes in, is America First. He has also used his skills to become self-sufficient and live off the grid. He is not in it for the power, fame or money. So it would be hard for the deep state to control and corrupt him.

If Republicans were really America First/Make America Great Again, they would bypass all the rules and nominate Thomas Massie as their presidential candidate for Nov 2024. But many of them are not MAGA but MTGA (Make Trump Great Again) Their allegiance is to Trump and his allegiance is to Israel – MIGA (Make Israel Great Again). They don’t mind if he leads America and them off the cliff.

Massie, as GOP nominee, could have picked Rand Paul as VP but both are from Kentucky, so that is out. He could choose DeSantis and unbrainwash him on the Z issue. He could appoint Rand Paul and Ron Paul to important posts in his administration. That would be a solid team and together they could get the country out of the mess.

    Michael Tracey

Thomas Massie is one of the best members of Congress, perhaps *the* best, because he’s a genuinely independent thinker and is also extremely well-versed in arcane legislative minutiae. But he has zero influence on Trump. He endorsed and campaigned with DeSantis, and also Trump called for him to be primaried in 2020. Trump did not endorse him in his recent round of 2024 endorsements for Kentucky. Nevertheless, Massie does have to hedge somewhat on his criticism of Trump, such as it exists, because it’s virtually impossible to win as a Republican Member of Congress if you’re overly adversarial to Trump

    .
Magadonians are rushing to find and post something that will discredit Massie. How dare anyone be critical of Trump.

But at the same time, why should adults have limits placed on their freedoms and rights? Those who are not able to handle the content on the internet should avoid it. Approvals are being escalated to Marles regardless of the value of the defence contract, superseding an earlier protocol that allowed low-value deals to be approved by a delegate within the Defence Department.

The government has rejected claims by the Greens that it is “complicit in genocide” by exporting weapons or ammunition to Israel. It says no weapons or ammunition have been sent to Israel for the past five years, and no other military components have been supplied to Israel since the start of the most recent conflict on October 7 last year. “Since the conflict began, no permits have been approved except for items that have been returned to Australia,” Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy told ABC Radio National.

Some items have been sent from Australia to Israel in recent months, Conroy said, but all involve equipment that is being repaired or modified and returned to Australia for use by the Australian Defence Force. The equipment is not used by the Israel Defence Forces. The government has acknowledged that Australian companies make components for the F-35 joint strike fighter, which is made by Lockheed Martin in Texas and supplied to more than a dozen countries, including Israel.

In short: President of the Palestinian Football Association Jibril Rajoub was denied a visa to Australia to join the national team in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

Mr Rajoub claims the move was a “political decision”, as advocates such as Craig Foster described it as a “real concern”.

What’s next? The Australia versus Palestine game will kick off just after 10pm AEST at the Perth Rectangular Stadium.

Josh Frydenberg planned return to politics
The Zionists would have found a way to get their man to win and become PM. Sadly for them, Jeff Kennett was one of those loud voices that protested.

Josh Frydenberg would need the Victorian Liberal party to make an “unprecedented” decision to discard Kooyong candidate Amelia Hamer and facilitate his political return…

Former premier Jeff Kennett, a Kooyong local and a supporter of Ms Hamer, told the ABC it was “disappointing” that Mr Frydenberg was considering a return, and that he would create a disruption if he followed through.

“He has made a decision not to stand … I think that should be the finish of it,” Mr Kennett said.

    “No-one is owed a seat.”

And so Joshie has decided he is not rushing back into politics and supports the candidate his party has chosen to contest his former Melbourne seat.

mh, I did not respond to your comment when you posted it, last month, because I was caught up with putting together the content for that thread.

It does appear that there are only two of us here on a regular basis. And Cold-Hands who posts the Week in Pics on the weekend.

Adam did say that there are hundreds of regular visitors to the blog each month. He must be using some program to get those stats. So based on that, there are readers coming in regularly to read this blog. But we don’t know about it because we don’t have buttons for Likes, Upvotes, Followers. And we don’t get any feedback by way of comments.

There may be those who have plenty of time and go blog-hopping to check out various blogs. But there may also be some who don’t have a great deal of spare time but still come here to read what we post.

This blog is different because we have no personal attacks or abuse/ridicule of commenters, no idle chatter or gossip. It is mainly a respectful sharing of news, information, opinions and so on.

German poet Heinrich Heine was once asked why men no longer build cathedrals. He replied:

Cologne Cathedral took 632 years to complete. Does modern man have the necessary conviction to build something like this today?

I log in every day. My computer access is mainly for correspondence and discussions re issues affecting the rural community as well as shared use for a home business. Audio is too disruptive to the work schedule so I am unable to access blogs or youtube and rely on reading summaries. As such I do not feel competent to engage in analysis of politics and world affairs including the ongoing wars. This blog does shine a light on many issues that I would otherwise be unaware of but cannot influence.

You are underselling yourself if you believe that you are not competent to take part in discussions on the blog. It is a Free Speech site and this is an Open Thread so you can post on any topics that you are comfortable with. It doesn’t have to be about the wars or global issues. It doesn’t need to be a long comment with some detailed analysis.

If you are checking in everyday, you could share some general news. Even just one sentence about what is being reported in the papers or radio or TV.

Something that Albanese said or Dutton did. Or news about Covid, climate change, health, woke issues. There are so many news items that don’t just posted here because there is a limit to what the two of us have time to post.

If you are involved in community projects you could share something from your experiences there, if they are not private and confidential info.

OK I will take up the challenge.
Whilst the east coast is inundated with rain, some parts of Kangaroo Island has been under a rain shadow. The season breaking rains normally fall in March with Anzac Day being the breaking point for sufficient run off for sowing crops.
This is not unprecedented. A farmer who has passed on a few years back told me this happened on the year he married – the rains did not fall till June when it was then too cold for the seeds to germinate.
We have just had an inch of rain. Volunteers are being rounded up to plant 150 tree seedlings that have been nurtured until the soil would support them. These are revegetating a recreational walking trail.
There is unlikely to be a hay harvest this year. Lambing has occurred with two-thirds losses of newborns.
This will be a year when community resilience will be tested.
