Eight isn’t enough: House speaker drama will require a ninth vote

The eighth vote on the House floor to elect a new speaker didn’t do the trick.

Vote-leader Kevin McCarthy again ended up with 201 votes, and 20 Republicans again voted for another Republican member of the House.

The only change of late is that some of these 20 Republican holdouts are redirecting their votes. Two of them voted for Rep.-elect Kevin Hern of Oklahoma, while another, Rep.-elect Matt Gaetz of Florida, voted for former President Donald Trump. The remaining 17 votes went to Rep.-elect Byron Donalds of Florida.

A 21st lawmaker, Rep.-elect Victoria Spartz of Indiana, voted “present” again.

The result means a ninth vote, and possibly others, will be needed before a speaker can be found. That vote could happen later Thursday, or Friday if Republicans seek to adjourn for the day.

They still don’t get it. Being a jeehardi is not a solo enterprise. This is an extended family religion. Rewards are given to the whole family. Zahab’s martyr death ( her hubby) means the extended family go to the front of the queue to enter paradise. (Like being buried on the Mount of Olives – if you’ll excuse the Abrahamic analogy). The rewards of convincing your son or cousin to become a martyr are eternity in Paradise.

The last time a similar event happened we got the mega-quake in Japan-2011.

A large X1.2 class solar flare has occurred on the Eastern limb of the Sun. (left side viewing from SDO)

You should be able to see the flares trajectory in a few hours going into tomorrow on the ENLIL page:

As with past X class solar flares which are on a side facing Earth, we can see increases in charged particles as well as solar wind. The incoming charged particles (when excessive) can be seen on the SOHO satellite(s) C3 view

When the charged particles arrive with the solar wind in the next 2-3 days from now (1/5/2023 8pm central) you can watch the compression of the magnetosphere around Earth here:

Once the compression of the magnetosphere occurs, and a buffeting of the magnetosphere happens with excess protons /cm3, and solar wind speed increases… I think of the incoming solar storm with strong solar wind like a wind storm.. and the charged particles like rain…. if you combine the two.. its like a hurricane… not just a wind storm!

Within 2-3 days of the arrival of the x-class flare, usually we see a noteworthy increase in deep earthquakes, and shallower larger earthquakes. Also, keep an eye out for earthquakes by pipelines, power grids (lines and stations), even railroad tracks.

Summed up.. an x-class flare facing earth has occurred, it takes 2-3 days for the charged particles w/solar wind to arrive. Once it arrives, we watch for an additional 2-3 days for an earthquake and volcanic increase. Next 7 days basically.

    Susan Bassi:

This video is about the process of disqualifying a judge who failed to make disclosures about his connection to a secret club with lawyers, cops and reporters.

Taxpayers paid for the dinners of judges, lawyers, cops and reporters from mostly San Jose Metro and San Jose Mercury. For thirty years they met in secret. The meetings were not publicaly noticed and most Sheriffs , Lawyers and reporters did not get an invite.

The judges say it is permitted. The law says it is not. Without cameras in court, we can’t see the conflicts, the closeness and the crony relationships that influenced legal proceedings , tainting trials, headlines and local elections.

Judge Towery once was employed at the state bar to protect the public from bad lawyers. He protected the lawyers and then as a judge protected them further, denying due process by failing to make his disclosures about the secret Judge Club that was by his invitation only . Towery protected lawyers such as Thomas Giarardi. He appointed lawyers in cases to represent children, or to act as private judges. He inflicted harm on hundreds of families. His wife, Karyn Sinunu Towery was a prosecutor, who was argulably worse to those trapped in criminal proceedings.
We are investigating who knew and how many cases were impacted.

This week has been a difficult one in the Massachusetts Law Enforcement community.
Three active-duty Law Enforcement Officers, all from South Shore communities, passed away suddenly within the last seven days. One of whom, 25-year-old Officer John F. Santos of The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, would have been a member of the Massachusetts State Police 88th Recruit Training Troop. He would have undoubtedly served a long and distinguished career with this department.
On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, Officer Santos passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after succumbing to a Brain Aneurysm. He was also a member of the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant, and served overseas in 2019. Officer Santos has a fiancé and an unborn son.
On Thursday, December 29, 2022, Officer Sean Besarick, a 24-year veteran of the Brockton Police Department, passed away suddenly at the age of 48-years-old. Officer Besarick was long-time member of the Brockton Community, graduating from Brockton High School in 1992 before serving in the United States Navy for six years. He became a member of the Brockton Police Department in 1998. Officer Besarick is married and has two daughters.
On Saturday December 31, 2022, Officer Christopher A. Davis, a 17-year veteran of the Stoughton Police Department, passed away at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton at the age of 42-years-old. He was a member of the Stoughton Police Special Operations Unit and was the department’s defensive tactics instructor. He has been awarded numerous commendations from the SPD during his 17 years of service, including a Distinguished Service Award in 2012. Officer Davis has a fiancé and a daughter.
The Massachusetts State Police offer our most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of these three dedicated service members. May they rest in peace.

This McCarthy bloke sounds like a no-hoper as well as a RINO. Those opposed to him aren’t against him per se, they just want assurances on budget limitations, border security, and other “conservative” values.

Instead of negotiating with his detractors, which is what a politician is supposed to do, he ignores them and tries to have them bullied into submission. He sounds like a nasty bloke who can’t function as politicians are supposed to.

A couple of weeks ago I watched a Patrick Lancaster YouTube video about how he went to a small village on the outskirts of Donetsk to distribute food and Christmas presents to the children living there.

The village lady mayor took him around the village as she knew which families had children living there, and they passed the local school which she said wasn’t in use as all the children in the Donetsk region are studying at home due to missile strikes on their schools. Then she mentioned that Russian soldiers were presently billeted in the school building.

Which makes me wonder, was this the village near Donetsk where 89 Russian soldiers were killed with missile strikes?
