Ben Geeves:
Using Ben Orr’s original vocals, I thought I’d try to remake the 12″ version using my own instruments (Using – KorgM1, Korg01, AccessVirusKC and Roland JV2080). I did it because I really love the instrumental section heard once near the end of the 7″, and wanted to hear a few more variations of that in my 12″, especially during the intro. I had to sing some of the backing vocals, the “who’s gonna drive ya, who’s gonna drive ya” chord that repeats occasionally (I hate my voice btw but after applying loads of effects I’m almost unrecognisable, phew!). I didn’t want to stray too much from the sound of the original (I’ve always loved the song, it’s perfect as it is), but I couldn’t find a perfect match for all the instruments, my snare drum is a bit thunderous, and I might have overdone the synthy strings a little. It’s a work in progress anyway, I’ll probably make a few tweaks after I’ve heard it back a few times.
– I made the video out of the film ‘One From the Heart’ because I’ve always had a thing for Teri Garr. She does some excellent dancing during the film I thought might be good to mix some of that with this song. The film has been heavily criticised in the past, it’s a shame because you get the feeling that it could have really been something exceptional. Anyways, the film does have a special look and there are some exceptional moments in it that stay with you.
Enjoy and thanks for visiting.

Steve,
I agree with you that much of “official” history is rubbish, but I don’t agree with John Levi if he’s claiming that much of Sydney was pre-existing when the early white settlers arrived.
For example, he was looking at a photo of the Rocks area in Sydney (photo dated 1920ish) and saying that the buildings were looking very old. Of course they looked old, they were old, that part of Sydney was occupied from the late 1700’s.
And they looked dirty as you would expect, electricity was generated all over the place using coal fired generators, so there was plenty of soot. Also, private residences were heated by burning coal and wood, smoke and smog everywhere.
There’s also the fact that he was using old black and white photos so naturally everything looked dirty, grey and grimy.
He was also amazed that there were so many tall stone structures in Sydney (built by prisoners in his view); they were all iron or steel structures with stone facades. He doesn’t seem to believe that previous generations were capable of building impressive structures, I think it’s a form of vanity to believe that only the current generation is capable of such creativity and engineering abilities.
That said, thanks for posting his links, I like listening to the fellow. I’ve got no idea who he is, but he sounds like a companionable sort of a bloke who likes to tell stories while flicking through photos while also smoking his dope.

We can agree to disagree. He’s not alone with his thoughts. Approach an engineering firm today, leaving out all the current regs, and ask them to build that 20 acre building in Chicago from the world fair using the same tech at the time.
Example
If the time stamps on the construction are to believed ( wank ) the past past builders were clearly more efficient than those at present.
Tartaria was real ( 96% confidence ) and we are being duped. Many more than Levi are commenting on it, as posted above and quick dismissal is not so simple.

Clueless tourists above remain clueless. Not their fault. Check up on G-earth, and all the trees planted circa WW2 are covering up ancient sites like you would see in Turkey and Malta. Good luck learning about that at the nearest tourist bureau.

Many boarded and disembarked the ship at the various little jungle towns the ship stopped at until we reached the town of Alto Monte which was like something from a Hong Kong kung Fu movie. But who were these people and why were they dressed in robes and gowns? I disembarked to find out…

A couple of comments about the Uke war…
About a week ago Russia publicly called for negotiations. They have done this in the past and its a signal that some offensive operations are about to begin somewhere on the front, it’s to give the Ukes an opportunity to respond with a cease-fire and a sit-down and have a talk.
Usually, the western media has responded to these Russian offers of negotiation by mocking the Russians and declaring that they are almost defeated etc. etc., but they haven’t said anything about the latest offer, there’s been no media mocking or anything, just complete silence.
The other thing worth mentioning is that the Ukes are running out of ammunition and artillery shells and NATO is struggling to even partially supply the Ukes needs, yet the Ukes keep up their artillery and rocket attacks on the civilian areas in Donetsk City and other large population areas. The HIMARS rockets they are firing indiscriminately into the civilian zones cost the American tax payer $100K each, just to blow up some residential home and kill a couple of old age pensioners or some young children, maybe NATO should tell the Ukes to focus on military targets to make better use of what they give.

It’s fascinating to watch the Labor ideologues implode. First super (I’ll only put it in a little bit, trust me) and then the barely contained desire to hit on the family home. A bit more of this and they could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the next election, especially if inflation and recession continue to be threats to people’s survival and economic security.

Fifa’s appointment of supermodel Adriana Lima as its first global fan ambassador five months before the Women’s World Cup is “tone deaf”, says former Fifa council member Moya Dodd. Dodd, a former Australia international who served on the committee for Australia and New Zealand’s successful bid to co-host the World Cup, said Lima’s public image was an “odd fit for an organisation that says it wants to empower girls and women”. Dodd, a member of the Fifa Council from 2013 to 2016, also referred to comments Lima made in a 2006 interview with GQ magazine in which she said abortion was “a crime”. Lima’s publicist Laurent Boye said the model’s stance had changed: “We can proudly say that Ms Lima has been promoting a healthy lifestyle for several years and like many people, her position on many LGBTQIA+ and women issues has evolved and she is considered an ally.” Lima pictured. Disaster Compilations:

With as much as 12 feet of new snow over the past week, and seasonal totals surpassing 41 feet, California’s Sierra Nevada is buried.
So much snow has fallen that homes are engulfed and roads resemble canyons. More is on the way this weekend, with the National Weather Service office in Sacramento forecasting an additional three to four feet.
“Expect disruptions to daily life including dangerous/impossible driving conditions with road closures and whiteout conditions at times,” the agency tweeted. “MOUNTAIN TRAVEL IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED!
In the wake of the blizzard early this week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) declared a state of emergency in 13 counties affected by the winter storm, including several in the Sierra Nevada.
As one data point, the Central Sierra Snow Lab received 87.2 inches of snow in 72 hours early this week, bringing its seasonal total to 531 inches, the most on record through February. The snowpack in the region is now above the full-season average.
Although disruptive, the snow is a blessing for the state’s water supply. According to the federal drought monitor published Thursday morning, the percentage of the state experiencing at least moderate drought conditions plummeted from 84.6 percent to 49.1 percent in the past week because of all the precipitation. Drought covered nearly the entire state on Oct. 1.
Meanwhile, skiers are in heaven. “I have to say I’ve been skiing here for 40 years — I’ve never seen conditions like this,” Gary Wayne told the Los Angeles Times.

Speaking of those in the media who owe mea culpas, I recently posted a Peter Hitchens video of him debating Ukraine with some old bat on UK tv.
At the time I was thinking he was more impressive than I had given him credit for. However tonight I was watching Hitchens from 11 months ago, and it was all about Putin’s gone mad, invasion makes no sense, Russia has the GDP of Italy therefore there is no way Russia can sustain anything, etc.
But today Hitchens has rediscovered the history of Ukraine – the US backed coup, the eastward NATO expansion, Russia provoked, Ukraine corruption.
