    At the beach today and was stressed about my belongings. I just walked over to three blokes and asked them to look after my stuff. It took about two seconds of eye contact to know the blokes were trusted.

    No stress.

    I was only a little lad when Pele was at his peak, before they began just kicking him. For Xmas I got a Brazil soccer shirt. As an extra treat I got the letters P E L E to be stitched on (before the advent of iron on). Mum, a dab hand with a needle, stitched away. An hour later I got my shirt back with the name PEEL. Which sort of made sense to an English housewife. All my mates laughed. But for that I could have been one of the greats.

    Wet season in full swing up here. Every little channel is flowing like a stream, the bigger ones small rivers. If only someone would think to turn these inland it would transform the interior.

    Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Department of Business & Professional Regulation issued another warning surrounding sexually explicit drag shows. For the Dec. 29 ‘Drag Queen Christmas’ show, they warned Ruth Eckerd Hall of Clearwater that children cannot be exposed to “sexually explicit performances.”

    “The Department has reason to believe that this drag show is of a sexual nature, involving the exposure or exhibition of sexual organs, simulated sexual activity, and/or the sexualization of children’s stories,” they wrote. “To avoid action being taken against your license, it is your obligation to ensure that minors are prohibited from attending the Drag Fans drag show.”

    Kirk Cameron held a reading of his new children’s book As You Grow at the Indianapolis Public Library, and the small room allotted to him by the library was packed to overflowing with parents and kids. Cameron’s reading drew the biggest crowds to the library in 137 years, a spokesman for Cameron said.

    This after the library had initially refused to host Cameron and Brave Books, claiming that the message of the book did not align with their values. These are libraries that routinely host Drag Queen Story Hours, and 53 other libraries simply refused to host him.

    I’m listening to Lira’s Roundtable at the moment and the panel had a good laugh at the state of the European leadership elite. There’s Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, and soon Chrystia Freeland will be appointed Secretary General of NATO.

    That brought to mind Isaiah 3:12 –

    Our internet at the farm has been down since Christmas Eve & we have been using mobile hot spot. We had NBN technician in today & discovered that the dreaded mice had chewed through the cable to the dish.

    All reconnected now, but Safari doesnt seem to want to know Catallaxy Files. Very weird. Am using Chrome – but it is still not right.

    This article seems to have the medical techos in a tizz. It is far too technical for me, but I understand that it pretty certain that the Covid shots are capable of creating disastrous auto immune responses and shutdown. It is trending over at Jo Nova’s blog and also, it seems, on Twitter.

    When Djokovic insisted on entering the country without a jab, it understandably hit a raw nerve for many. But it is time to move on. The federal government was right to overturn the ban. Re-prosecuting the fractious debates from the past will not help anyone. And it’s time to let the tennis be the undivided focus of the Australian Open without engaging in further wrangling over whether individual players should be in the country or not. So, let the play begin.

    Novak Djokovic says he is ready to move on from the turmoil of last year and he may well do so. However, I cannot forget what happened. This was never about whether Djokovic had the right to decide what was put in his body – of course he did. This was about a selfish man who chose to care only about his own narrow views and to show no consideration whatsoever for others. He was happy to come to Australia unvaccinated in the height of the pandemic.
    He was comfortable to put at risk every Australian he met during his trip. This is not the sort of man I could ever respect and he can never be a true champion. I will choose not to watch any Australian Open match in which he is a player.
