Labor set to form a majority of at least 77 seats in the House of Rep

Incoming Labor Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to form a majority in the House of Representatives.

At least 77 seats are likely to be called for Labor and 54 for the Liberal-National Coalition.

The Greens are looking at clinching four seats, in what leader Adam Bandt has labelled a “Greens-slide”.

I think this is not good if Labor has majority on its own. If it depended on the Greens, it would be a dilemma for Labor because they had said no deal with the Greens.

On the other hand, if they are not dependent on the Greens or the Teals, it may be less horrible than we can expect. But then, Labor has enough extreme lefties in their ranks.

Expect plenty of Sri Lankan boats to arrive. Not just because of this case, but there has been an economic collapse in Sri Lanka:

The situation facing Sri Lanka’s citizens is dire. Soaring inflation has taken the price of basic goods out of reach for many, and extreme shortages of food, medicine and fuel mean people have to spend hours queuing in the extreme heat while shops have been forced to close. For months, there have been peaceful anti-government protests, driven by anger with the political elite. But in recent weeks, they have turned violent; one politician has been killed by a mob, and others have had their houses set alight.
