I tried my hardest to sign that one in time, but despite several attempts it would not ever send the email for me to confirm and thus complete the signature.
There was a text box saying it was a beta test site set up because people had been having difficulty with the proper one.

Bushkid, I came across this petition only after it had closed. But you tried to sign and were unable to do so due to the beta site error.

    The e-petition page says:

Welcome to our beta site. We’ve improved things to make it easier for you to sign, create and learn about petitions. Email your feedback to petitions.committee.reps@aph.gov.au

They are asking for feedback, so let them have it.
You could email them and explain the problem you faced due to the Known error. Add a screenshot of that page with the text box. Let them know that this could have affected others wanting to sign as well and those unable to sign or even those with slow internet connections would simply have given up. Suggest that they should add a few days to the deadline to allow those unable to get in due to the beta error to be able to sign the petition.

I can’t see the name of the person who started the petition but if they receive feedback from others, they may consider this and if so, let us know. Those of us who missed it could sign the petition.

I was talking about Google image search.

What does it matter. I said I would concede it.

But if you are talking images then are they encouraging drug use? Does the context indicate that it is a bad thing?

When I was at school in the 70’s (when there was public indecency laws) I remember a section in our Harry Messel science books that talked about drugs – made it sound horrible.

The logic being presumably that if you want people to be able to make informed judgement about unsavoury things they need to be informed.

    Drugs exist.

Without the lesson we would only have known what ill-informed kids said in the schoolyard outside teachers’ hearing.

I was told off for referring to myself as a first gen Aussie ‘wog’, in Canberra, when “WOGS OUT OF WORK”, banners where flying everywhere.

My email to a mate OHMS on how the Pakis were going in the cricket was swallowed for racism. I expect i am under investigation somewhere. I am not losing much sleep.”
    ______________________

The same people who admonished me for referring to myself as a ‘Wog’, were fine with ‘Jew Jokes’, because that’s how they cope with Jew Hate, and exclaiming, ‘Thank God the Paki’s are here!’, because everyone had to see how racist they weren’t, but it was the imagined undertone (indoctrinated propaganda), that ‘white Aussies’ & ‘white Wogs’, needed checking & belittling lest people see ‘white supremacy’ being praised.

Like I said, Canberra is broken.

BTW, I grew up with “Wog” being a term of endearment (well earned by working with with Aussies in the Snowy Scheme & other hard, dangerous jobs), unless it was delivered in that tone that told you it wasn’t.
Come to think of it, The Bastard PC Police even robbed us Aussies of Our Cultural Right to give words countless meaning depending on the delivery & inflection.
They robbed us of the Australian-ism of being able to make, “mate”, a deadly threat & “C@#t”, high praise.
    Bastard PC Police Bastards!

The suburb I currently find myself in has a quite high profile bikie headquarters in and there are bikies going about their “business” most hours of the day. The speed limit outside the cafe I do most of my reading at is one of those 40kph areas. Periodically one of the old school bikies goes through at about 80 on a custom Harley with straight through pipes (probably stolen to order).

    68/60,000 =.001133 or .11%

Meanwhile from Woolfe’s link, between added debt and loss of production , this has cost us possibly $2 trillion. (my estimate).

    From the Australian

Senator Sarah Henderson creates hotline to dob in ABC Nick Tabakoff

    32 minutes ago August 15, 2021
    1 Comment

On the week of the 60th anniversary edition of Four Corners, relations between the federal government and the ABC’s flagship current affairs program are about to hit an all-time low.

Diary has learnt that prominent Coalition senator and former ABC current affairs host Sarah Henderson has lobbed a grenade into the anniversary celebrations by establishing an encrypted email account that will allow ABC staff to dob in what she describes as “concerning decisions or incidents”.

And it’s clear the prominent government senator’s provocative move is particularly focused on Four Corners, and the program’s star investigative reporter Louise Milligan.

Henderson’s salvo comes in the wake of high-profile stories Milligan has filed about government leaders in the past year, including her story examining the alleged links between Prime Minister Scott Morrison and a prominent local QAnon follower, as well as stories involving allegations about the private lives of cabinet ministers Christian Porter and Alan Tudge.

Last week, the ABC also paid out a defamation suit brought by another Liberal MP, Andrew Laming, against Milligan over one of her tweets, resulting in $79,000 being awarded to him in court-ordered damages and an estimated $50,000 in legal fees.

Henderson has claimed last week’s payout demonstrates “a clear case of discrimination in favour of the cosy club at Four Corners”, after it issued a warning last week to staff that they needed to take responsibility for their social media activity.

“It is a farce by the ABC to state it has no editorial or legal responsibility for the personal social media posts of its staff, and then pay taxpayers’ money to benefit one reporter,” she said.

The ABC maintained last week that it had “decided to pay Ms Milligan’s costs in this matter, a decision arising from particular and exceptional circumstances”.

An ABC spokeswoman said: “In March, Ms Milligan in good faith published several Twitter posts regarding Dr Laming. One of those posts contained an honest error that had been widely reported by numerous other journalists and politicians on social and mass media.”

But Henderson has raised the stakes in the battle between the government and its own broadcaster.

“Other ABC reporters, particular junior reporters or those working in the regions, don’t receive these types of benefits,” she said. “It’s for this reason that I am asking ABC staff to email me anonymously and securely, via an encrypted Proton email account, about other concerning decisions or incidents at Aunty. I worked at the ABC for some nine years, so I don’t expect that the Milligan payout would be an isolated incident.”
