Prominent Gay Republicans Helped Smooth the Way for Marriage Bill

Behind the scenes, a group of influential Republican donors and operatives, including some of the party’s most prominent gay leaders with long experience prodding their party to embrace L.G.B.T.Q. rights, banded together with the bill’s proponents in Congress for a coordinated, $1.7 million campaign to persuade G.O.P. senators that backing it would give them a political edge.

Their quiet work helps explain how a bill to ensure recognition of same-sex marriages across the country went from being the subject of an election-season political maneuver that few expected to be enacted to an initiative embraced by a decisive majority of senators, and an unexpected victory for the gay rights movement that will be one of the final acts of the Democratic-controlled Congress.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s arrest in the Bahamas on Monday marks the beginning of a new chapter in the FTX saga, one that will pit the former crypto billionaire against the Southern District of New York.

The indictment is expected to remain sealed until Tuesday morning. U.S. prosecutors haven’t commented, and neither the Attorney General of the Bahamas nor the Royal Bahamas Police Force would confirm the nature of the charges against Bankman-Fried.

The New York Times reported that the charges against Bankman-Fried included conspiracy to commit wire fraud and securities fraud, as well as standalone charges of securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.

The SEC has initiated a separate set of charges against Bankman-Fried, relating to “violations of our securities laws, which will be filed publicly tomorrow in the Southern District of New York,” enforcement director Gurbir Grewal said in a statement on Monday.

A spokesperson for the SEC declined further comment.

The charges could land Bankman-Fried in prison for decades, legal experts told CNBC. But before he ever serves time, U.S. prosecutors have to secure an extradition from the Bahamas back to New York…

As President Biden has made clear: antisemitism has no place in America. All Americans should forcefully reject antisemitism – including Holocaust denial – wherever it exists.

The President is establishing an inter-agency group led by Domestic Policy Council staff and National Security Council staff to increase and better coordinate U.S. Government efforts to counter antisemitism, Islamophobia, and related forms of bias and discrimination within the United States. The President has tasked the inter-agency group, as its first order of business, to develop a national strategy to counter antisemitism. This strategy will raise understanding about antisemitism and the threat it poses to the Jewish community and all Americans, address antisemitic harassment and abuse both online and offline, seek to prevent antisemitic attacks and incidents, and encourage whole-of-society efforts to counter antisemitism and build a more inclusive nation.

From Joe Biden, the “Catholic” President of the US

Today, I signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law. We are reaffirming a fundamental truth: Love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry the person they love.

While, Francis, bishop of Rome, probably agrees by his silence, this is the response from a Catholic website.

    Joe Biden’s Disrespect for Marriage

Although Biden is a self-professed practicing Catholic, his decision to redefine marriage clearly puts him at odds with Catholic teachings about homosexuality and marriage and has drawn repeated rebukes from U.S. Church leaders.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, those who have same-sex attraction are called to chastity. In Nos. 2357 and 2358 of the Catechism, Catholics are told to respect and be compassionate toward people with same-sex attraction, but that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered, contrary to natural law, and should never be given approval.

Marriage, according to No. 1601 of the Catechism, is a union of a man and a woman ordered to the good of the spouses and toward the procreation and education of offspring.

The cops were not there because someone, who should have been minding their own business, reported to the police that the property occupants were not wearing masks or not vaxxed or something along those lines. Was it a planned ambush? Was the partner who reported the missing person part of the plan or someone concerned about her partner?

The police earned themselves a bad reputation for their compliance with the government, during Covid. There should be a Nuremberg 2.0 trial where all those who “were just doing their job” get a fair trial and get punished, if guilty.

There is a tragedy here where two of the cops sent to investigate a missing person based on a request from the “missing person’s” partner get brutally killed. And a bystander, too. That is definitely not okay.

It is taxpayer dollars, so how do the terms of the settlement get classified as “confidential”? At the request of Ms Higgins.

How is it that Ms Higgins holds so much power when she is clearly in the wrong? Any one in MSM asking the questions?

a/ Ms Higgins went into her workplace late night/ early morning on a weekend. It was not official hours of work. She was not asked by her manager/boss to be there for some designated work. She entered her workplace at a time when she should not have been there.

b/ She walked ( or staggered) sober (or drunk) into the (building?) of her own free will. She was not dragged or coerced in there, unwillingly.

So she knowingly did something against the rules of her workplace. Especially, as this is a top-level, sensitive government entity.
There would be security guards to provide evidence of this.

Why is her boss/minister/Commonwealth government/ anyone but Brittany Higgins responsible for her actions and what may or may not have happened?

How, then, can someone who has done something wrong be eligible for a multi-million dollar (of taxpayer money) confidential deal?
